Phenomenal tea in a beautiful setting. Excellent service .
My husband's burger was good but they should have told us that if i only one person orders high tea, you only get it on a small platter and not on the tiers. Our server asked if that took it away from my experience and I told her it did. Also, unlike Lovejoy's Teahouse, the high tea spread was not abundant or a good variety. Go there for the crab and prawn salad and burgers.
Been looking for a gem like this in SF and finally found it!
Having properly dressed people, good quality table service, cool ambiance, good music is a very rare combination in SF and The Rotunda has got it all together! Great lunch location:)
Wonderful! Will go again and bring friends and relatives.
we enjoyed afternoon tea service with champagne, everything was great. waiter was amazing, atmosphere was great, definitely worth the price. we will be back!
Always enjoyable to dine at the Rotunda, especially if there is a fashion show that day. The food is always fresh. The service is always just right.
Awesome service and great location when shopping. Short rib pasta was wonderful. Some items were a little lackluster, such as the poke. But overall a good experience.
Brought my 12 year old grand-daughter. Our afternoon tea was great -- elegant
environment - wonderful food - a great memory! Thank you.
It was just perfect. My friend was very impressed. Tea selection was very good(do wish they had more decafinated teas). Great treats, and plenty. Worth every penny.
Thank you for making the effort to locate the table section we requested. We did'nt mind the 30 minute wait. The wait staff never rushes people and that is appreciated.
I'm from Sacramento and visit San Francisco a handful of times a year. I'd been here once before and thoroughly enjoyed it, so was looking forward to a return visit. Service and setting were impeccable. The popovers are a particularly nice touch. First class all the way.
Excellent food, drinks and service. Location memorable. More an experience than a lunch. Would definitely go back.
Actually it was not busy because still early, most of customer can seat in even they arrived earlier than their reservation time.
Only me, I was waiting there for more than 20 minute until I asked: Do I have to wait until my friend came in so I can seat? The staff said there is still 10 more minutes until my reservation. ~~ Okay~~
I was thinking What happen to other customer, they can seat in after they walked in; no matter their reservation still early. Is it because I am a Chinese? Hope my thoughts is not the reason~~
Anyway, my steak is over cooked, really hard to chew. My friend order a Portobello steak, it’s very oily & small portion. Food is poor & over priced!
Beautiful food and drinks. Great service. Wonderful atmosphere.
A wonderful Saturday lunch. Service is always outstanding. Charlie will be missed while he is vacationing in Europe. Only downside is annoying Aubrey Brewster and his non-stop conversation at the bar.
Exceptional food and service! My favorite place to eat!
great service, love the popover, delicious lunch, wish they had weekday tea
Delicious and high quality
Was lucky to get a booking during a very busy lunch service. Set half way up the chi-chi Neiman Marcus store and overlooking the rotunda this seems a favourite spot for ladies that lunch so the decibel level was a little higher than I would normally like. We had a simple tuna nicoise and Aperol Spritz which was served in a timely fashion by an energetic waitress. Views were lovely and will be better when the mess of roadworks in Union Square have been dealt with.
We were served a 'popover' to start with strawberry butter. I remarked to the server that in the old country we call them Yorkshire Puddings and he looked at me like I was crazy. When I told him that we eat them with roast beef he looked even more perplexed. At this point I gave up!
Always a favorite with my daughters and friends ♥️
Slipping a bit.
We have been going to The Rotunda for tea regularly for years and overtime it seems to get a bit less special. The ladies at the check in desk were very nice but our waitress was not very friendly. With tea at $45 one expects at least a smile. Perhaps it has become so popular that the servers don't feel the need to be nice. Also, I ordered the gazpacho soup special which was fine but when the waiter set it down it kind of slopped out of the bow and the waitress did not even apologies.
There seems to be room on Union Square for another tea place!
Afternoon Tea at Neiman has always been exceptional with the atmosphere, location, and service. They’ve recently updated their tea menu and the food has definitely improved. Neiman is back on top for afternoon tea in SF.
Ask to be seated near the window when booking.
Before I lived in the Bay Area, I always made a point to have a meal at the Rotunda when I visited San Francisco. Now that I live here, I have made a tradition of going once a month (or more).
To dine here is to be a patron of the culinary arts. The setting, refined service, the consistently beautiful dishes create an occasion that is hard to fine in today's world. Elegance, refinement and fun.
Dress up and treat yourself.
Excellent food & better service
My family has been having lunch at Rotunda for years, and frankly I am disappointed in how far downhill the dining experience has come. The host staff was dismissive and rude, the menu is not as impressive as it once was and the decor is beginning to look tired and the glasses on our table were very dirty. As usually the consommé was delightful, and the champagnes by the glass list one of the best in San Francisco however the service did not make us wish to return.
Wonderful table. Delicious food. Great service. And fantastic view!
Was wonderful. I was having tea with my mom, future mother in law and sister. Wanted to impress and also have a fancy ambiance for us to gossip and develop family bonds. Both my mom and mother in law loved it and want to make it a tradition !!
A special treat to celebrate my birthday, love this restaurant during the holidays. We were lucky to get in and receive a window table. To celebrate my birthday. Food delicious, service from staff superb. Look forward to returning again.
This is a beautiful and historic space used to good advantage is serving quite good fare. I would like to try its tea service in the future. Very popular; be sure to have a reservation.
Beautiful space, comfortable but elegant. Service was very friendly and still upscale/professional
My daughter and I have a special fondness for the Rotunda and she was in town visiting so, of course, we went to one of our "faves"! We like the service and feel very pampered there. In addition, we love the popovers!!
Great service and food was excellent !
Everything was outstanding. The only issue we had was the woman’s bathroom was closed and it was not convenient to go upstairs to the 5th floor to use the restroom.
Everything was phenomenal. Thanks so much!
Staff is great!!!!! Love them
Arrived on time and our table was not ready. Ten minutes later we were seated (2 top). Chatting and excited to catch up, our waiter was pleasant. Service was casual and our food arrived hot. In the meantime my 15 year old daughter arrived earlier than expected, so we took the nearby empty chair to have her join us while we finished up our meal. Let me back track a little. My daughter asked the hostess if she can come into the restaurant to look for us, since we were not answering our phones, uncertain if we were there. The hostess denied her, so she left. At a pause, I noticed her text and told her we were still in the restaurant. Poor girl, already in a state of frustration, sat down and joined us. The table next to us was reset for the next guest, no comment on the missing chair. As the guest were being seated by the hostess, she asked for the chair back rudely. My daughter, politely stood up and gave up the chair, while we all looked at each other with a feeling of being dismissed. Note to hostess, there was an extra chair next to the table where the new guest sat. Noticing our discomfort, the hostess offered to look for a larger table with hesitancy. To minimize the stares, and the pretentious look by the hostess, my daughter volunteered to leave. Warning*** if you are not dressed with designer clothes or what not, you might feel like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman." It's San Francisco, this shouldn't be happening in our diverse and beautiful city.
Although our server, Nick was very friendly, attentive and knowledgable I would not recommend the Rotunda for lunch. My chicken breast with cauliflower couscous were awful. The very tiny dark grey chicken portion and gigantic cauliflower couscous portion tasted as if they had been cooked the day before and reheated to serve the next day when I ordered it. This meal had the taste color and texture of being leftovers and I don’t eat leftovers. Not a good thing to serve to someone who expects better from Neiman Marcus.
I didn’t what to make a fuss and send it back because I was hungry and didn’t want to cause any drama for the friend who was with me.
The Rotuda has great ambience and service. People watching is a lot of fun. For these I do recommend this restaurant. For the food I do not.
