The Rotunda at Neiman Marcus - San Francisco
I had called at least four times mid Dec. to try and make reservations. I never received a return call.
I did make reservations one month later by using open table. Every time I tried to call I got the answering machine.
We were seated promptly and service was good. My guests enjoyed the Lobster Roll and Prime rib sandwich. I order the burger medium and it was well done and dry.
I would come back and order the prime rib sandwich or lobster.
Wonderful lunch with an old friend. Food was good, servers attentive. We were able to linger over our tea without feeling rushed. Lovely experience. Thank you
Apart from the unnecessarily rude hostess (Rochelle?), we had a fantastic experience. Our server Nick was fantastic and the food delicious. Classic SF
Excellent food. Stunning setting so closely under the stain glasses dome of the Rotunda. Waiter, Charlie, was excellent. Hostess team is always frustrating to deal with in terms of how they assign tables.
Wonderful service and food!!! Very beautiful atmosphere.
Double birthdays. We were well attended to, our waiter Joe was fantastic, and the maitre’d/managerJohn was likewise outstanding.
Service was impeccable.
Service was super slow. It took a long time for us to place the order, receive our tea and bites, and get the bill. Afternoon tea hors d’oeuvres were mediocre, and the desserts were especially bad. We took a bite out of each one and regretted consuming the calories.
Wonderfulmseafood salad ..
The service was very nice. My waiter was very helpful and courteous. The bus person was very nice and provided very good service.
The food was terrible. My mom ordered salmon and it was VERY salty. Then she ordered the steak as I did. It was terrible and full of grizzle. There was more grizzle than meat.. never tasted so much fat and grizzle in a steak. I was very very disappointed. For the price I expected a good meal.
Excellent service. My entree was excellent. Overpriced but we knew that before we made reservation. Great place to go for a very special occasion. Popovers are still the best bonus ever!
Tea service is wonderful
Excellent all around and we will be back again and again!
The restaurant is beautiful and the service is excellent, however the food was very mediocre. I had higher expectations considering the price, so I was a bit disappointed.
Lovely afternoon high tea as always!
Great service and atmosphere! Our server Thomas was very attentive and didn’t rush us. Will definitely be back again.
I went with my 7-year old granddaughter who had been there twice before. She really appreciated the ambience now that she’s 7!
They fit us in, since we missed our noon reservation as she got to my house very late, and we arrived at the reservation very late.
Our server Boni was extremely pleasant and wonderful. Food was amazingly excellent as always.
It is always a lovely experience, the waitstaff is nice and efficient. The food is delicious, but a bit over priced.
Despite having a 1:45pm reservation we weren’t seated until 2:30!! We had told them this was for a special occasion (wedding anniversary) and still we saw other people who came in after us being seated ahead of us. We were invited to wait at the bar for our table - the bartender was exceptional! We kept noticing empty tables and would go to the rude hostess who finally decided to seat us at a really off to the side table. The server we got was fantastic. Attentive and polite. But nothing special was offered for our anniversary even though we saw the table beside us had a little candle on a cupcake brought out to celebrate her birthday. We ordered the high tea for $50. We got 5 mini “sandwiches” and 5 mini desserts - none of them were exceptional. Not worth the money.
The nicest wait staff I've ever experienced. Fabulous room. Great menu and everything is delicious. Relaxed
A wonderful and elegant place to have lunch .
A personal favorite !
Superb food and excellent for an elegant business lunch
Food was unexceptional. My coworker had the cod sandwich and the bread was burnt on both sides. I had the short ribs. The noodles were oily and it looked like it had been sitting too long under the heat lamp. Will not go back for lunch there.
Everything was excellent - just like I remembered it. The popovers, as always, were amazing and irresistible. I had the chicken salad - really nicely prepared, with not too much mayo or dressing on the greens. My daughter had, and loved, the hot seafood salad. If you haven't been there before - I know you will be impressed with the beautiful view of Union Square.
Have been going to the Rotunda at least once a year for a long time. I think the food preparation is not as outstanding as it once was --- more similar to Nordstrom cafe. Items no longer represent the outstanding price. Service is always excellent. Best part, of course, is the popovers and the consomme.
I do wish they would make it easier to make reservations -- by phone, voicemail is the only option. Open table has times, but during busy seasons it would be nice to speak to reservation person.
The perfect ladies that lunch spot.
We went for lunch and, frankly, the food was less in every way. Smaller amount, more average in taste.
Fabulous! We enjoyed it!
Will NOT return
Service: almost non-existent
Food: below average
We waited half hour for the window seats but server refused to give it to us even though there’s one open and we are the first one in queue.
Lovely locale , excellent service but a miss on the food- very ordinary at those prices.
We arrived early for a late Saturday lunch, were greeted warmly, and seated immediately at a nice table. Servers were friendly, attentive, and professional. Two of us ordered from the lunch menu, and one ordered afternoon tea. The signature popovers with strawberry butter were delicious, but the complimentary chicken consommé was too salty for one companion, and tasted burnt for the other, so I drank all three cups, even if they were obviously from the bottom of the stockpot - a treat perhaps for Mrs. Patmore, but not to be served to Countess Grantham. My cod sandwich was crunchy and delicious, but my companion's chicken salad was oddly seasoned, and not to his taste. My other companion's afternoon tea was presented lined up on a slab of stone, with savory finger sandwiches and tea cakes side by side. This clichéd attempt at modern style was totally out of place in the ornate setting, and seemed almost an insult next to the 3-tiered silver stand served to the party of four at the next table. A simple polished metal tray for one would have been more appropriate. The contemporary music was not loud or obtrusive, but detracted from the mood. The Rotunda is making a mistake trying to be hip and trendy in their presentation, or too adventurous in their seasonings. They should attend to details and stick to the classics.
Fabulous as always!!!! Would always recommend to anybody that wants a fun afternoon with great food
the popovers were amazing!! definitely better than regular old bread.
We had to wait awhile even though we had a reservation but they could not have been nicer. The view ,servers and ambiance was top cabin. We each ordered something different an each meal was delicious. Definitely a Special Occasion Winner!!!
Great experience from start to finish. Our waiter was delightful - excellent service and pacing. We popped in for a quick early lunch and had some Iron Horse sparkling, shrimp and crab louie, NY Strip Steak. All exceeded expectations. The amuse, popover, and mint chocolate at the end framed the meal nicely. Thanks for a great time!
Everything was just perfect.
I made the reservations online for High Tea and made the time for 1:00pm when we arrived we were told Tea service does not start until 2:00pn and we were welcome to have lunch or return in an hour
We chose to sit but this was not the experience we planned
We not a good value or what I planned for this event
We tried to make the most of it but disappointed
