The Rosedale Diner Ratings and Reviews
Food was phenomenal!! Tried the poutine, ceviche, streak, and salmon dishes. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. Did a two course meal with a small dessert and all portions were generous without being too much. Gluten - free options were provided to my dinner date with Celiac and waitress was knowledge of the issue and helpful with menu choices. Will definitely return next time I'm in Toronto.
It is definitely overpriced for a diner. The air conditioning really didn't work and the backyard patio is dumpy.
The waitress had to be asked several times to bring small requests like a finger bowl and napkins for the ribs.
Sadly, This restaurant is not up to Summerlicious standards.
Food was delicious although I was told that they could make my wagyu beef burger rare as they grind their own meat. The burger was medium as I had been misinformed and they do not grind their wagyu beef. Had I been given the correct information, I would have ordered something else. While the burger was good, I would prob have preferred the rib. The duck pâté was incredible and pot de crème chocolat was outstanding. My husband loved the rub in his steak however I found it to be too spicy. Overall please with meal. Def recommend this restaurant.
We went for Summerlicious 2016 and were impressed with the selection. It's nice to have a choice of 5 apps and 6 mains! The Petite Duck Poutine, Pan Roasted Rainbow Trout (that avocado crema is divine) and Grilled Flat Iron Steak were definite highlights. The window seat was lovely. Nice cocktails.
What I appreciate most about the Rosedale Diner is the service. We travelled from East Lansing, Michigan and again we were not disappointed. The place is hip, the food is good and the atmosphere is outstanding. If for some reason Trump is elected which I doubt we might regulars.
Once again, I suggested to friends of mine to meat for diner at the Diner and they loved it! Love the friendly atmosphere, the very pleasant waiters and enjoyed the food. The vegetable tajine was quite a success with one of my friends; I had the chicken D. always juicy and extremely tender + cooked to perfection. My other friend had the hamburger and she commented on how juicy and tender the meat was.
We came across this diner by searching for restaurants to visit for winterfest. Since it was on the list of restaurants we didn't really research to see what the restaurant was like or the menu and thought reserving through the winterfest website that is what we were going for. It was our first time attending a winterfest and let me tell you...it was a disappointment, especially for the kids. When we arrived it is a very small 50/60's style diner and not very well kept...
After we were seated we asked what was available for winterfest and the waiter said we don't offer that until dinner...that was not advised when we booked this place. Although we travelled from Newmarket to the city :/ we didn't leave because the kids were starving. We ordered drinks and in my coffee the spoon, which was already inside the coffee stale food stuck on it!!! I think this is all I will have to say...go again? No...refer? probably not...
We have visited the Rosedale Diner a number of times and the food has always been excellent. The restaurant is comfortable, the atmosphere is pleasant and it's a good place to go with friends. The only downside is that the music tends to be rather loud. Overall -- highly recommended!
I love the Diner - have been coming here since I was a teenager ordering prosecco and sitting on my favourite banquette table in the back room. I am even almost used to the renovation but will forever miss the library book wallpaper!
Great hummus dish for me the vegan, great menu in general for everyone and absolutely love the little cans of prosecco - lucky they do not sell these at the LCBO!!
Will be coming for thirty more years for sure.
Was here for winterlicious 2016. Service was excellent, our server was very attentive and polite, even offering to try to accommodate my father, when none of the desserts were to his taste. The diner is very small and I wouldn't recommend going with a group larger than 4, even with 4 our table was a bit cramped. Food was good, but not exceptional, however portion sizes were very generous. Definitely more of a casual, diner like style as the name forgoes. Overall, the excellent service made the dinner enjoyable.
We went out for a bite after a concert and used open table to secure our spot. The diner is an intimate spot to eat at and we shared a good bottle of a semi dry riesling wine with our meal. The Calamari was done properly and had a lovely dressing. The mains included a lamb shank on special with salad and potatoes, a lamb burger which was perfectly cooked and a piece of pickerel which was done well. Desserts were exceptional and the service was friendly and engaging. I will be back again and highly recommend the Rosedale Diner.
Rosedale Diner doesn't have a lot of tables but that's ok! If you come here on special occasions (e.g. Christmas) and you didn't make a reservation, be prepared to wait.
We ordered a Mac & Cheese, Duck Confit and the calamari. Mac and cheese was a tad on the sweet side and needed some salt. Duck confit had an excellent glaze and fork tender meat. Calamari... I couldn't stop eating it! It had some good heat.
A great casual place with charming ambiance and delicious, eclectic menu. Great for meeting friends or having a romantic dinner. In summer, the garden patio is magical and in winter, the Rosedale Diner is cosy and intimate. The service is great and the staff are all very friendly and accommodating. It is definitely a neighbourhood local, but you don't have to live in the neighbourhood to love it as a regular spot for brunch, lunch, cocktails, or dinner. One of my favourite restaurants in the city.
Rosedale Diner is my favourite restaurant for when my husband and I get a date night. We come here every single time. It feels special, and romantic, the food is amazing and the service is great. I kinda feel like I am over at a friends' place for dinner and I can't wait to see what they have cooked for me!
The vegetarian selections are delicious (and I am not a vegetarian but have had several dishes), thoughtful and creative - not just some token vegetarian choice thrown on the menu. Try the hummus. Try the chicken. Try the tagine. Go for brunch - the BEST poached eggs. Just GO! You will be so happy you spent your evening at Rosedale Diner!
We picked the Diner because it looked like a nice place to catch up with friends. We did not want to be someplace too stuffy, or in a pub no matter how upscale, The Rosedale was a great find! The food was reasonable priced with large portions. The drinks menu was if I recall higher priced, but the bartender did a fine job mixing drinks and it was nice to watch the man at work. My friend got the Table d'hote and it was a great value. We all enjoyed sharing her Bread Pudding and it was very fresh and appealing. My friend was stuck in traffic and I called to hold our reservation and the Diner was so nice about it - we felt welcomed when we arrived. Great waiter, nice night! But my steak was over cooked and I wish I tried the ribs instead.
The dinner we had was absolutely amazing, but the service just not matching up. It was almost impossible to get any attention from the waitress we had, not because the place was crazy busy(it was busy), but because she was constantly playing/ texting on her phone.
Although the food and cocktails are amazing, we would not return anytime soon.
