We went for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Food was delicious, was surprised how casual it was, but that didn't bother us. Great wait staff! Dessert choices were wonderful and not the run of the mill! Looking forward to going back again!

I very much enjoyed my meal here. My only negative is the lack of gluten free entree. I ended up having a burger with no bun which was delicious, but they pride themselves on healthy and none of their entrees were gluten free. They had many gf appetizers though.

The Root restaurant is the best food in Oakland Co as far as we know. My husband and I have been going since the opening. Their bartenders make OUTSTANDING specialty drinks like the walking dead :) so very good and we have NEVER had bad serve or food!

Nice Napa style restaurant for all occasions. The tasting menus is great and has optional wine pairings. There is outdoor seating. It’s fantastic to have this style and quality in White Lake.

We had the loveliest brunch! It was Mother’s Day and could have potentially been chaotic but it was stress free, delicious and the service was wonderful!

I am torn about leaving an honest review......you might get sooo crowded that we won’t be able to get a table next time.....we travel from Brighton and the food and service is sooo worth it. Glad they take online reservations for any number of guests, not just parties if 8 or more.
Decor acoustics food and service....top grades.... pat from brighton

We had not been to the Root for a few years, but it was as wonderful as we had remembered. We went for our anniversary and they gave us each a glass of champagne and we shared a dessert on the house. Our food was spectacular as well as our service.

We arrived post movie. I had been in the day before with my son that recommended the craft cocktail experience ..and that didn’t disappoint. Matt was our bartender and was an excellent host as well as highly skilled in the art of craft cocktails.
As a result of this pleasant experience, I decided to return the following evening (Sat.) with a guest and made dinner reservations. We were sat right away which was wonderful and immediately attended to by an assistant to the server. After 10 minutes, however, of nothing more than water on the table with a restaurant only partially filled with guests, my friend went to the front desk and asked if we even had a server at all.
The server ( Chris B) who finally arrived stated the reason he didn’t realize he was supposed to be waiting on us was (quote) “because the restaurant is so slow they cut down the number of servers and nobody really knows what section they have so even though I saw you sitting there I didn’t bother till somebody told me to take you. What would you like to eat? ”. He was abrupt and unprofessional, at best, start to finish. We spent close to $300.00 and are unsure whether to chalk this evening off as a fluke or just never return.

Our 3rd time at this restaurant. My fried bologna sandwich was outstanding. My husband's rib eye was "so-so" ....not terrible but not great either! We were disappointed with the limited menu. ..no cooked, only raw fish. Great staff. Liked Princess Aurora!

We went for a birthday party (5 in our party) and had a wonderful time. Chris was our server (have been served by him before and always wonderful) food was fantastic, and all around great service service made for a fantastic experience.
I’ve been here many tines before, for date night, lunch, or dinner with the girls, and one of my favorite place to dine.

Nice atmosphere, good brunch menu, and an excellent Bourbon for Breakfast cocktail. Would recommend The Root Breakfast Sandwich, the Quiche was a bit dry. Service was pretty good and an overall positive experience. Would return and recommend to others.

We went for our daughter's Birthday. Her favorite place. However, this time ... 4/18 there were ZERO vegan options on the menu. :( Not a problem.. she placed her order and had the shrimp put on the side. I was bummed.. birthday dinner and she has to compromise (same thing happened last year at Slow's where they were "all out" of all their vegan offerings) so.. here we are again.. same situation. No biggie .. she was there for the Banana Cream Pie.. she said it when she sat down! I ordered the salmon.. it was cooked perfectly and tasted divine! My husband had the Tapas and those were also to his liking. Then came time for dessert! Banana Cream Pie Please!!!!! Her mouth was watering .. AND THEN THE OTHER SHOE DROPPED!!!! I'm sorry we are all out of Banana Cream Pie! WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! I will go here again.. but I am calling first to be sure they actually have the food available that we wish to order! I am hiring a personal chef to come to the house for her next birthday.. this is just too crazy!

Excellent! The honey lavender pancakes are amazing. My date had the chicken and waffles which was perfectly cooked. The waffle was sweet and soft with some crunchy edges.
Had coffee with our meals, in which we ended up buying some to go. Thanks for the great experience!!

We both ordered steaks... ribeye for him and NY strip for me... requested they be cooked medium - they closer to a medium well. I wouldn’t say either steak was tender. Expensive for the food that we were served. Wouldn’t think to go back.

We have been coming to the Root since it opened. Since Chef James opened up his restaurant in Hael Park it is quite clear his influence is greatly missed.
There was a time when the wait staff was extremely knowledgeable about the food, how’s it prepared and how it’s aerved The last three visits for us this has not been the case. It appears it hasn’t been dusted or cleaned in a while. We were seated on the right side wall and there was a lot of dirt and dust in the ledges.

Ordered prime rib with stuffed baked potato. Not only did they both come to the table cold the Prime Rib was nowhere near the temperatures it should have been for how we ordered it.
Until they get their act together I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and quiete frankly many of our friends feel the same. The place was noticeably empty and it’s a shame. Maybe if they stop spending all the time at Maple Grove they can bring this back to what it once was. We were very disappointed.

Ordered the halibut special and it was outstanding. The service was nice and friendly. I would have liked to have seen a few vegetarian options, and perhaps a gluten-free choice as well. The food here is excellent, albeit a bit pricey for a "regular" night of going out to eat.

This was the first dining experience at the root that left me disappointed. The new menu cut the vegetarian options I have grown to love over the past 7 years. Sadly, until/unless the menu offers vegetarian entree options, I will not be returning.
