Great drinks and great food. Had so many apps didn’t have room for dinner
I was disappointed with the limited menu choices and the waitress recommended the Kung Pao Shrimp which I found too hot and very small for a main course
We tried the house and vegan prepared menus with wine and beer pairing. The food was all delicious, and the service was top notch. We’ll definitely be back!
We went for our daughter's Birthday. Her favorite place. However, this time ... 4/18 there were ZERO vegan options on the menu. :( Not a problem.. she placed her order and had the shrimp put on the side. I was bummed.. birthday dinner and she has to compromise (same thing happened last year at Slow's where they were "all out" of all their vegan offerings) so.. here we are again.. same situation. No biggie .. she was there for the Banana Cream Pie.. she said it when she sat down! I ordered the salmon.. it was cooked perfectly and tasted divine! My husband had the Tapas and those were also to his liking. Then came time for dessert! Banana Cream Pie Please!!!!! Her mouth was watering .. AND THEN THE OTHER SHOE DROPPED!!!! I'm sorry we are all out of Banana Cream Pie! WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! I will go here again.. but I am calling first to be sure they actually have the food available that we wish to order! I am hiring a personal chef to come to the house for her next birthday.. this is just too crazy!
Awesome time and great food for brunch!
Excellent! The honey lavender pancakes are amazing. My date had the chicken and waffles which was perfectly cooked. The waffle was sweet and soft with some crunchy edges.
Had coffee with our meals, in which we ended up buying some to go. Thanks for the great experience!!
We both ordered steaks... ribeye for him and NY strip for me... requested they be cooked medium - they closer to a medium well. I wouldn’t say either steak was tender. Expensive for the food that we were served. Wouldn’t think to go back.
We have been coming to the Root since it opened. Since Chef James opened up his restaurant in Hael Park it is quite clear his influence is greatly missed.
There was a time when the wait staff was extremely knowledgeable about the food, how’s it prepared and how it’s aerved The last three visits for us this has not been the case. It appears it hasn’t been dusted or cleaned in a while. We were seated on the right side wall and there was a lot of dirt and dust in the ledges.
Ordered prime rib with stuffed baked potato. Not only did they both come to the table cold the Prime Rib was nowhere near the temperatures it should have been for how we ordered it.
Until they get their act together I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and quiete frankly many of our friends feel the same. The place was noticeably empty and it’s a shame. Maybe if they stop spending all the time at Maple Grove they can bring this back to what it once was. We were very disappointed.
Love it every time we're there!
The daily cocktail was awesome, the food always wonderful and Chris was especially great server.
Ordered the halibut special and it was outstanding. The service was nice and friendly. I would have liked to have seen a few vegetarian options, and perhaps a gluten-free choice as well. The food here is excellent, albeit a bit pricey for a "regular" night of going out to eat.
Our waiter was fantastic and the food was awesome as always.
We chose the tasting menu (both the vegan and the meat eater one) a long with the wine pairing. The food AND the wines were fabulous. Wait staff was wonderfully attentive!
I was looking for a nice place to take my adult children to dinner and found this place. It was also highly recommended by Hour magazine.
This was the first dining experience at the root that left me disappointed. The new menu cut the vegetarian options I have grown to love over the past 7 years. Sadly, until/unless the menu offers vegetarian entree options, I will not be returning.
Easter brunch! Amazing as usual!
Always a great experience. Good food and service.
It is our goto restaurant. We love everything about it.
We love The Root! It's locally sourced expertly prepared food...a treat every time we visit!
It's so dark in this restaurant that I recommend you take a flashlight. When it's still light outside the contrast between the light shining in the windows and the dark interior makes it difficult to see and then it gets worse when it gets dark outside. The food was just okay but rather expensive. The service was good.
I have a large amount of fun teasing my father over my $100 meals. This phone call with my father was that I was happy to pay $100 for the meal as everything was outstanding. Not an inexpensive place at all, but the food is always top notch.
Took my wife for her 35th birthday. Had a great time. She had the fish and I had the fried chicken. Both were excellent and she enjoyed the special drink she had as well.
Amazing as always. Thanks again for a memorable meal.
Our first time there and will be back. Our server was outstanding and made great recommendations!
We had been to The Root a few times for dinner and lunch. This time we went for the Brunch and it was great! The service this day was better than we have had in the past and the food for Brunch was interesting and delicious! It takes us a good 45 minutes to get to The Root from our home, for Brunch, it's worth the drive. We will definitely visit again for Brunch.
Great food, great service. Amazing interesting drinks, menu very interesting and uses local farms.
My wife and I enjoyed our visit to the Root immensely.
Service, food, and drinks were fantastic—as always!
Great service and wonderful food
My husband and I had been to The Root Restaurant before and loved it. We wanted our adult children to experience the food and atmosphere there too. We went for our daughter's 25th birthday. She is gluten free and happily, had options to choose from .
Our server was wonderful, attentive and professional.
Can't wait to take my other family members there too!
Always love this place, but we always go when it's cold. My only complaint with this trip was we were right by the somewhat drafty window. Can't wait til it's warm, I think they have a patio too!
Great evening!! Food was wonderful and service outstanding!!
My friends and I enjoyed our lunch. Chris, our waiter, was friendly and knowledgeable. The menu was varied. U recommend this restaurant.
I was skeptical when I heard James Rigato left the restaurant quite some time ago. However, this was a lovely experience all around. My siblings and I had our monthly get together here and had zero complaints. The tasting menu was lovely. Well done.
Food was good, but our group preferred a wider variance of menu choices.
The Onion soup was excellent, and the waiter was on the ball. We all enjoyed lunch. I will be back!
Had a great lunch at Root yesterday. Ryan did a great job serving and the kitchen was great as usual.
The tables for 2 a little too close ! The food delicious. We were given a little bit of champagne to celebrate our anniversary and that was a great gesture. Thank you !
I have eaten at The Root many times since it opened and always had a good meal, great service and good value, butI will not eat at The Root again anytime soon. When we first walked in, the hostess wanted to seat us immediately, even though we were early and the rest of our party hadn't arrived yet; She was annoyed when we wanted to have a drink and wait for them. Our server was pleasant, but did not appear that knowledgable on the dishes. In the past, I have always been impressed with the staff's knowledge and ability to accommodate special requests. We ordered the brussel sprouts appetizer, without bleu cheese, since 3 out of four have a dairy allergy; it came with bleu cheese on it, so we sent it back, My husband ordered the fish special, which was ahi tuna on soba noodles. He requested to substitute the noodles for rice, and was told not they couldn't do that and the server didn't offer any other option. He requested to speak with the manager, who came over and advised the same without offering any other option, other than to say that they only had a certain portion of rice and couldn't substitute. I can understand the portioning issue, but come on, it was white rice!!! My husband then asked for a vegetable and she said no, same thing on the portion side, so he finally said how about a salad? The manager agreed, and brought out a dish of plain arugula with about 2 radishes on it, which was pretty pathetic. All the main dishes then came out, and I have to say that compared to meals we have had there in the past, the portion sizes were tiny. I would call them appetizer size, not main entree size, especially for the prices they were charging.
All in all, we were very disappointed in the whole dining experience; I had heard that the original chef/owner was no longer involved in the restaurant and there was a new chef. I always considered The Root a higher end restaurant but they'll have to improve their service and selections if they want my business anymore!
We were there for a birthday, which came with a complimentary dessert for the birthday person. Service was great, as usual, including accommodation of my multitude of food allergies. Some new things on the menu (cocktails and food) along with the different daily specials. One of the more interesting cocktails was a hickory-smoke/maple/bourbon/cherry John Collins. Great wine by the glass selection at reasonable prices and variety.
Food was very good, and the service was excellent. We always enjoy eating at The Root.
Our usuals for brunch didn't disappoint. The Chicken and Waffles are to die for. Chicken is tender an juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside! The bacon is the best I've had but you have to like salty. Happy Customers!
