The Root Restaurant & Bar
It was delicious and the service was excellent! Not pushy but very attentive. I brought my parents from out of town and they loved it! These foodies were very happy!
Found via reviews on Google. Brought friends from out of town and all of us were thrilled with the food, the service, the ambience. Thank you so much for a lovely evening!
Since it was sold, its not the same Root.Limited menu so you have to go with the features which are also limited and $30+. We need and want an upscale choice in White Lake, Root could be that place.
This restaurant it consistancy awesome. We always drive out here to eat and then go do our big food shopping at the Kroger.
Love the Root. Come here a lot. Would love to see a new menu. Will be back
Ordered the hamburger and thought it to be the best one I’ve ever had.
Awesome food! I wish you offered crab cakes for brunch/lunch.
Awesome brunch and they let our dogs on the patio
Brunch reservation for four at noon on Sunday and there were fewer than a dozen seated tables; parents arrived first. Food and drinks were ordered together.
French press coffee and a mimosa took about 15 minutes to be served for my wife and myself.
Food took nearly 45 minutes to be served which were basic orders: salad, soup with a side of crispy bacon, the root plate and vegan hash.
Seems like either our server had forgotten to put our ticket in or the kitchen ignored it for about half an hour.
When the side of bacon arrived it was warm and flimsy so I asked for it to be cooked crispy. It came back half burned to an inedible char. I understand that it's thick-cut bacon and takes longer to cook, but there's no excuse for burning it. Bacon is a staple and very easy to cook correctly - especially when the restaurant was at less than 1/4 capacity.
I don't recall our server's name but she was young and presumably new. The buck stops with the manager or whoever is put in charge of quality control. Whoever that person is never checked on our table or I would have let them know at the time instead of this electronic feedback.
The reviews and pictures on Yelp all looked really great and perhaps it's a completely different restaurant for the dinner service.
Our service was horrible. The ambiance and quality of ingredients were excellent but are not worth the premium menu prices when the service doesn't match.
Great place to spend an anniversary dinner. My husband really enjoyed his prime rib dinner and when he says he would get it again...that means he really liked it.
Great food and service. I am a vegetarian and they accommodate by letting me order a side of the gratin potatoes which is usually served with the steaks.
Always great. Always interesting things to eat.
Ran out of Chicken that someone in party wished to eat. Offered nothing in consolation given limited menu. Forgot a cappuccino. Was disappointing experience! Will not return.
Great food, beautiful restaurant and kids menu food with excellent quality and it is free on Sunday dinner
Great food ( as always ) for Father’s Day brunch - however, it took nearly an hour to get our food after waitress took our order.
We ended up getting outdoor seating which was lovely. We ended up choosing the tasting menu which gives you 5 courses . The first course one of us chose the Sea Scallops and I chose the Brie encroute which came with an arugula salad and thinly sliced apples. Very well done...extremely delicious - almost licked the plates. The next course we chose the salad and the curried Brussel sprouts. Both were very good. Then came the intermezzo (lemon chartreuse sorbet to cleanse the palet) Then onto the entrees The fish of the evening was cooked to perfection and the fingerling potatoes were spot on. I chose the curried chick peas and cauliflower with jasmine rice. The flavor profile was delicious yet the rice was undercook and a little crunchy for my taste. The dessert was a banana cream pie w/roasted marshmallow and I had the blueberry rhubarb lavender pie. Both were great. As for drinks - the wine list is nice and chose one to suit the meal. There was a bourbon drink (forget what its' called, yet it's smoked) Overall a very lovely evening outside and the meal was fantastic.
Great food. Great service. One of my favorite pksces
Chris is an outstanding server! Excellent balance in terms of conversation and business related to the dining experience.
We sat outside and was wonderful. We ate appetizers, dinner, desert and had beer and cocktails everything was great.
Tasting menu was a great sxperience
always good. you can count on a nice meal and great service
A group of car friends get together each Wednesday and go to a different restaurant for lunch and have burgers.
This week was our 300th! To celebrate we picked an extra nice place to go and we were not disappointed!
Very best service and food! Recommend it highly!
Btittney was faboulus person. She shared the recipe for your new Sangria. She updated us on Matt's condition.
I was disappointed that when I returned my steak that was rare when I ordered medium, It was forgotten and then overcooked! Meanwhile I hungrily watched my dining guests finish their meals. Finally my steak was returned cooked properly and they comped my meal.
Great waiter. Food was delicious. I had the gnocchis and shrimp, so good.
Wait staff was very accommodating and attentive. Food was delicious!
Second time here and again all 4 of us had delicious fresh food and great service.
This has been my favorite restaurant for years. Our visit in May, 2019 was very disappointing. There were not very many people there but our service was extremely slow. Worst I've ever had. Tried the prime rib and was very disappointed. Wasn't cooked as requested and sauce was cold with a film over the top. Based on this experience, I may not return and will pause before recommending.
Uninspired food, ok service. We wanted casual- burger and a sloppy joe which both were so lacking in flare or distinction it could have been a Kirby’s. No flare, no imagination. The beet salad was very good but stingy on the beets and apples
The food was delicious! I docked a star for service because our server was a little scattered. We did come in on Mother’s Day and I could tell the server had a big section which I was understanding of. But, along with that we were charged $8 for my sons mac n cheese when his kids meal should have been free (kids eat free Sundays 4-9pm). I would’ve rather shared my meal with him than pay $8 for his own. Unfortunately, my husband paid without checking the bill first. Overall the restaurant was amazing and we’ll definitely go back!
We often choose this restaurant for after hours dining or dessert...always friendly, food is always good, atmosphere is wonderful.
Service was below standard. Drinks not refilled, we were basically forgotten about. While it was Mother's Day, the restaurant was not full and didn't seem busier than usual. The already limited menu had several items 86'ed. Waited 20 minutes for a table, even with a reservation. We have tried The Root for brunch on two occasions but we won't again. Not up to par with other upscale brunches in the area (Milford, Clarkston.)
I normally have wonderful things to say about the root however we specifically went here to celebrate Mothers Day and were very disappointed. It took over an hour for our food to arrive with no update from our server how much longer it would be. In fact he avoided our table. After the food arrived there was no apology for the delay. He did not come back to check and see how the food was despite my numerous attempts to wave him down. In addition there was no “happy Mother’s day” comment from him. Again, we would normally rave about them but we were quite disappointed in service and food quality on such a special day.
I took my Mother-in-law for Mother's Day. We enjoyed a wonderful brunch of Lavender honey pancakes and a side of bacon. Both were very good. Our only regret, that we didn't order different meals so we could try the eggs benedict! The mimosas were also very good as I opted to try the grapefruit instead of the traditional orange and loved it!
We had the most delicious meal and our service was equally as excellent.
The food and service were both amazing. We had a great meal for under 100 bucks and will definitely be back.
Expensive for the portion size of entree most fine dining restaurant offer a salad and bread.. not here.
It's noisy and slow service..
Water glasses are kept full and tables cleared quickly.
Food was amazing. It would be nice if there were a few more options. The menu was very limited in selection.
Was seated promptly. The scallops were a fabulous appetizer. Sweet potato bisque was excellent as well. I wanted to try something different and had the chickpea and cauliflower curry. It was solid but could have used some more pizzazz. Adelsheim Pinot was excellent.
Katie, our server, was very attentive and delightful. Overall, a wonderful dining experience. Becoming one of my favorites.
Good food , good atmosphere. Limited selections and a bit expensive.
