The Root Restaurant & Bar
Brunch was so flavorful and delicious! The price was reasonable for the quality of the food.
Food was amazing as always. Service was subpar this time however. Also, they tried to give us the worst table in the house - small, near the kitchen doors, and with a cold draft - and said sorry we are filling up. There were obviously other tables. Isn't that why you get a reservation when you have a special occasion, so you don't get an uncomfortable spot??
Never can go wrong at the Root
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner. We enjoyed the atmosphere, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and excellent food and drinks. This is sure to become one of our favorite places.
This use to be our go to date spot. New ownership and poor quality food and portions for the $$ have made this restaurant just okay. We probably won’t be back
The hostess was inexperienced and had us waiting 30 minutes after our reservation, while there were many open tables. The food was a huge disappointment, it had been one of our favorites but clearly the chef has changed. The pasta was over cooked, and stuck together in clumps. Very average
Other than the minor wait for our table on Valentine's Day with a reservation, everything was impeccable.... great food, friendly service & warm ambiance. Thank you for a very enjoyable, pleasant Valentine's Day dinner with my teenage sons!😊 We will certainly recommend!👍
We went to the Root for Valentine's Day. The service was excellent. My lobster risotto was very good - excellent flavors and the lobster was not overcooked, however, at $36 for the meal it was very small. My husband had the Brick Chicken. The flavors were excellent, but the chicken was overcooked and dry. He also requested a different side and was charged an up-charge of $2. The waiter did not mention an up-charge and it was just potatoes instead of polenta. Considering what they charge for dinners, this seemed a bit petty.
Previous dining experiences were more favorable than our last visit on 2/14/2019.
Not a fan of employees sporting a full bushy beard while preparing & cooking foods, least of all the main chef. Beard nets may not be required by law but it just looks plain unsanitary. The other kitchen workers had their hair under bandana handbands or baseball caps.
Our waiter questioned why I ordered a side salad because my lobster risotto was of significant size as it came in a "big bowl". It was not.
Side salad was a plate of arugula lettuce with 3 radish slices on top with scant dressing. Not a very wow factor. Did they run out of other raw veggies that could have been added? Very plain.
When we asked our waiter what temperature is considered medium rare (for beef tenderloin) cooked at (my husband did not want anything too rare), his reply was 125-140 depending on the size of the tenderloin. (???) Obviously he did not know what he was talking about. Main entrees were excellent.
I had a great experience here about 5 years ago the food was excellent. I dine here for Valentine's day and my husband and I were seated in between two other couples. I believe they call that New York style seating, I would have loved if the hostess had asked if we had a seating preference. So that was a buzz kill for an intimate atmosphere. I ordered steak and potatoes. The steak was charbroiled and bland, my baked potato was hard. I can say that the drinks were good. For the same amount of money you can go to Joe Muer and have a great dining experience.
Excellent as always! Our waitress Karen was great! Valentine’s dinner was delicious.
Our Valentine's Day dinner was lovely. We had a table we liked, our favorite waitress (Katie) and the food was delicious. Several suggestions and recommendations were simply perfect. Thank you to all involved.
Great Food and Staff in a Great Restaurant. What more do you need to know? Add a Great Crowd dining there!
Our experience at the root was great. The service was fantastic and the food was very good as well.
The entire night was excellent and we will be back.
We had to wait over 30 minutes for a confirmed reservation. I understand it was not the fault of the restaurant, but of a RUDE patron who does not understand a restaurant is a business and not your personal home to entertain. They took care of us after we were sat and it was a great meal after that point. For all those that believe you need 3 hours at a restaurant on a busy Saturday evening, try Chuck E Cheese, not somewhere actually trying to make money!
Always good food ,hot sauce is a must !
One of the best meals we've had in some time. Amazing!
Enjoyed it. Food was great. Someone was always there to take care of our needs
Great service, friendly staff. Huge portions, brunch is out of this world. Delicious and fun, unique farm to table experience. Highly recommend.
Cool place with good food... nice concept
Not enough people in the restaurant need to advertise lunch
First time back since they went under new ownership. Ambiance was the same, that has never been an issue. Salads were excellent but the soup and the shrimp entree had a little too much spice. Be careful when ordering the French onion soup as it is not a clear beef broth but rather a thick brown almost stew consistency (did not care for it). The drink menu was great.
Excellent food!, Great service! Will go back!
Tasting menu was incredible
A little on the pricey side but the food is locally grown or organic and it is very good. Good for a special occasion. Our server was very good, as they all have been on previous visits. I would recommend The Root.
I am at the root for dinner all the time, it is always a great experience, but this was brunch and it was terrible. My father got sick from the food, the service was awful, they changed the whole menu....would not recommend brunch at ALL
Brunch was excellent but not many options without egg
Great food and atmosphere. Service was great as well. Like the local supply of ingredients.
Excellent food, as always! Crispy seared salmon with white beans and gnocchi with shrimp were both wonderful. Service was attentive. Love this place!
Service was very slow despite not being crowded at all. My fish dish came and reeked of ammonia - clearly spoiled. No idea how the chef didn't catch this while preparing.
First time eating here. Food was Devine and the atmosphere was fun and inviting. It was very quiet when we went for brunch. Good prices for the quality food.
Consistently good food, interesting menu with some old favorites as well as some more creative options. Portion sizes are generous. Waitstaff experienced and knowledgeable.
Awesome brunch. The biscuits and gravy were outstanding. The breakfast sandwich is really good and so are the chicken and waffles.
Love the vegan chickpea curry entree. My waiter was awesome!
Everything aspect of the dining experience was great - especially the world-class, reasonably priced quisine. We are returning customer and return for a good reason.
Pork belly is the best! Great prices for flights during happy hour. Quality food.
Great place and the food is great! We love it there
They deliver Farm to Table perfectly. Every meal I have eaten here has been so delicious. Whether brunch, lunch or dinner. They NEVER disappoint.
Second time here. Last time the food was a bit better.
Great food, great service.
