Service was dreadful, food was marginal at best. Overpriced lukewarm food served by untrained wait staff. Whatever happened to the old Rookwood? I will never go there again, so disappointing for such a potentially special evening!

I usually love eating here, but this time was not as enjoyable. They put us at a table that people must've just moved from, there were waters at the table already with straws in the glass. There were no napkins of silverware and the waitress was tough to reach throughout the evening. It felt like we were bothering her and we thought about leaving early a couple times.
The table was wedged up against a pole and the music was horrible pop music making for an uncomfortable experience.
Like I said, I usually love coming to this place, but this experience really shook things up. Not worth the price tag, at all.

I did not like the music choice. Every song that came on was one I disliked. Please don't play covers of Staying Alive or anything by Grimes. Thank you.

This was for our company holiday luncheon. We made reservations in a timely fashion. When we got there, we received a table that was near the restrooms on a riser. The table and some of the chairs wobbled. I would have thought making reservations in advance would allow for a nicer seating arrangement. Our waiter was not attentive to getting fresh drinks and some of our food was not correct. Another employee that was doing more than his part let us know they were short handed yet somehow he managed to get us additional drinks. This was just not what we were hoping for as our special occasion.

This is a very nice casual dining location . The food is always very good
Service at times can be a little slow but our server t the was friendly and. Very knowledgeable about the menu and accommodating with our requests.
My only criticism is on many occasions, I feel the
the hostesses could be a little more friendly

Our room was an old kiln which is kind of cool...apps of upscale hanky parks, board of charcuterie were yummy. Main dishes included eggplant, past of the day-pasta carbonara, very good steak-ribeye with rosemary fries, and confit chic and dumplings. Dessert s'more topped things nicely. Our server was friendly and attentive so we left him a large Christmas tip-after you see the Christmas Carol...it's what u do:)

Great Sunday Brunch. My Real Deal Pastrami Sandwich was a treat and so were the the truffle fries. My wife had the Double Bypass from the brunch menu and she also enjoyed her meal. Two thumbs up for the bloody Mary too. We will definitely be back. An excellent location for out-of-town guests. The view of the city and the river from the parking lot is worth the trip.

Very accommodating wit table, view etc. in corner with great view out window. However, if was traded for comfort level. Felt like we were dining outside. Outside corner extremely chilly spot. Good ok, not anything special, and was not very warm as well. Fun experience though, if you have never seen the kilns. I deviated from my normal menu item, one of the burgers, which are amazing. I won't make that mistake again. The truffle fries are also up there on top of the charts as well. So, in a nutshell, ask to be seated in the center of restaurant, and, get a burger! You'll be all set.

We met another couple at the restaurant. We've been there a couple times before but only to sit at the bar for drinks and appetizers. So this was our first table dining experience. All the staff was friendly and attentive, but the food experience was under our expectations. All four of us were disappointed.

We'll probably stop for drinks at some point in the future but with so many other choices around we'll not dine there.

Food was good, service was good. Went there for a birthday celebration before going to the Playhouse. Even with mentioning the birthday in the reservation, nothing special or any birthday wishes given by the staff as I have experienced at other upscale eateries.

Went before and loved it. This time the quality and tastes were not consistent. We will come back, but I had to apologize to my friends after I had raved about it.
The server was great at first, then she disappeared even after we asked for another wine and salt.

Hoping for the owners' sake that it was just an off night after Thanksgiving.... Took 15 minutes after half our party were served our drinks to learn they didn't have the bottle of wine that the other half had ordered. Took another 10 minutes for my beer to arrive. Forgot to enter one of our dinner orders into the kitchen. We had many questions about the descriptions on the menu, though in fairness, the food wasn't all that bad. Unfortunately, the entire meal was one long, awkward wait for something to be fixed after another.

Food was excellent. Wait staff was good, not great. Ambiance reflects a restaurant that doesn't seem to think much about reinvention or just a little bit of cheeriness. A bit old school, and I don't mean the kilns. They're awesome. They don't seem to care to communicate the history or keep it interesting. Still, we enjoyed it. Just hate to see them not be all they could be. One of the few restaurants that wasn't hard to get into day after Thanksgiving. That shouldn't be the case

The food was outstanding! The portions were a little small for the price, but so delicious! The atmosphere was also great. The service, unfortunately, was terrible. It took forever to get our first drinks, and we never got the refills we requested more than once. Our waitress acted surprised we never got our drinks, yet she was the one who was supposed to bring them to us. The table next to us also had to ask for drinks multiple times and cancelled their desserts because it took too long to get them.

We've been to the Rookwood many times. This visit was below our expectations.

I had the pork schnitzel. You gett a tiny portion of pork, a tiny portion of spaetzle, and a big honking portion of cabbage (this probably cost them 10 cents). It was okay, but hardly worth the price. The Hofbrahaus in New Port gives you much, much better and cheaper.

My wife had the chicken n dumplings. She liked it. It's a small plate offering, but at $16, not sure it was worth the price.

On a positive note, the beer and wines we ordered were very good. And the pie of the day (apple) was to kill for.

Bottom line: We like the drinks and desserts, not looking to come back for dinner.

The food was very good and it was an enjoyable time with my wife. The biggest concern was that it seemed the organization of the wait staff was insufficient. It took a long time for staff to respond to requests and bar requests were very late as were some other items. The only item handled quickly and efficiently by the staff was the check.

Service and food were both acceptable but not great. We were craving hamburgers and had remembered that the burgers here were rated well in a recent Cincinnati magazine. But the burgers were overcooked (we ordered medium rare and they arrived medium well), the bread had the consistency of microwaved bread and the accompanying French fries were soggy and tasteless.
