It was divine. The food is AMAZING that is an understatement. Never fails
They had great personal touches! You made my anniversary date wonderful!
Food was good, but not amazing. Staff was friendly and efficient. Ambiance and views are exceptional. Expensive.
Nice restaurant. Was pretty loud with high school kids for prom. Would have liked to be seated away from them. Food was good.
The view was spectacular. I think the buffet could have had a wider range of foods especially since it's $42/plate. The atmosphere is good and the dessert was so so good! Perfect for a date night or special occasion!
Extremely expensive. The food was nothing exceptional. The view was beautiful and the staff was professional, but these did not compensate for the food quality and price.
The atmosphere is top notch with breath taking views and a great ambiance. I will admit a bias against buffets so take my review about the food with a grain of salt. The food was good for a buffet and the prime rib was not well done so that is a plus. Much of the rest of the food was strait from the Cisco truck warmed and on the buffet line. You get your $42 dollars worth via the amount of food you consume and not via the quality. The buffet seem like the last vestiges of old Utah except it was missing green jello. I will return but more because of the location, ambiance and the historical feel of old Utah.
My wife and had a very good dinner in a quiet and delightful atmosphere. We had planned to go to the Tabernacle Choir practice and when my wife saw the sign in the window for the Rooftop Restaurant, we said we should get a reservation and have dinner at the Rooftop Restaurant. Sure glad we did.
We picked the roof as the spot to celebrate our anniversary. It was great. love the ambiance, the piano player was excellent! The food was so tasty. There were so many different kinds of foods and desserts. Oh and the view wow. Our experience was excellent we will definitely be back. Thank you Roof Restaurant!
We were visiting from California and we loved it! The view, food, and service was worth the price.
Upscale buffet with amazing views of downtown Salt Lake City. Large selection of salads and entree's, but the most amazing part was the prime rib. I have never tasted prime rib so tender and juicy! No knife necessary.
Oh, and don't forget the deserts. The caramel bread pudding was amazing as was the mint chocolate cake.
Went there with my wife for our anniversary. It was a great experience.
This restaurant was an experience. The food was so delicious and the buffet comes in small portions so that you can try many different items. The best items of the night were the prime rib and the fresh, warm rolls.
The Roof was a great spot for our special occasion. We had an excellent view and the live piano playing was exceptional. The food is good, but pretty pricy for what you get. It’s an experience worth doing at least once. I would leave the kids at home since it’s more upscale.
90 minute dine time is great for taking your time to eat, soak up the views and stare into your dates eyes. Parks is free for 3 hrs with validation.
$42.00 per person AND CHILDREN ARE RUNNING AMUCK. My wife, and I were celebrating our 14 year anniversary. The Food and people made me Dizzy, light headed, and nauseated. At least 20 kids running around. Service was Awesome. We gave a $20 tip (Most I've ever gave anywhere). After two plates I was too sick and my wife started getting sick. We had to leave. I will NEVER return here. There are FAR BETTER Restaurants to eat at. The Chefs here seriously do not know how to cook food. The chicken was old. The carrot cake was stale as ice. I have 4 children, all under 12 years. Children should not be allowed in a place charging $42 a person. RIDICULOUS. As stated above, this place made me sick. We will NEVER return.
This is definitely one of the best restaurant in Slat Lake City. The Roof Top is super Clean, the staff are there to give you a warm welcome, and the food is excellent. The only limitation is that the buffet option is quite restrictive. We loved it and will visit again!
I didn’t feel it lived up to the hype. Service was great, but food was just average. Meat was over cooked so that was disappointing. But our server Janet was very nice and accommodating for our large party, which we appreciated.
It was buffet only, no alcohol and no coffee. Still food was good and atmosphere was excellent
Desserts were lacking..bread pudding was cold
Key Lime pie was good but other items tried had little taste
Flank steak was good-Mashed potatoes were on the runny side
Waitress was good at 1st but attentiveness decreased when it got a little busy
Lemonades would be nice with more than 1 refill
I have always loved the Roof. When we lived out of state we planned one night of a vacation to Utah for an evening at The Roof. My only complaint this visit was the lack of selection and the salad/pasta bar as well as the freshness of the shrimp. Don’t let that stop you. It’s well worth the cost.
It was a great experience overall. It has exceeded my expectations. What a lovely place.
The food was really good. Went on a night with prime rib and ham and was almost full by the time I got to the main dish. Desserts were great.
Excellent ambient and the service was great excellent people too
The salad bar et al was very good. The prime rib was above average but disappointed they could not/would not give me a med-well slice. The steak slices, pork and chicken were dry and over cooked. The deserts were excellent. The servers were excellent. Based on the quality of the hot items the cost was overpriced. A better value at $30.
it was mine & my husbands first time there. such a beautiful spot! & to top it off, SEEING THE VIEW of the beautiful temple & the rest of SLC! I HIGHLY recommend this place to people who are dating, engaged or even JUST married. it’s so worth it! SUPER BEAUTIFUL :)
Overall, I thought that the experience was amazing. The view was breathtaking, and we loved the live music. Only thing was that we weren't really impressed with the buffet quality given the pricing. However, the desserts were indeed amazing. Just wish the entrees were more impressive, or perhaps at least more varied than the large selection of meats.
Loved it. Great food.
Took my fiancée here for Valentines Day. Everything was perfect. The food, the music, THE DESSERT... the only thing is that I feel like it’s a little too pricey. But I understand you are mainly paying for the view which is spectacular. The service was great. :)
It was amazing. Berkeley our waitress was amazing. The food was so good, and environment was just beautiful.
We loved coming here for our Valentine's celebration. The food is always amazing and it is such a romatic setting. The view is so breathtaking. Our server Derek was awesome. He was super nice and helpful and we enjoyed it more because of him. Derek took good care of us and we really appreciated that!! We love coming here for special occasions and eating the delicious food! Also the live piano music really sets the mood! Loved it!
The first time we tried to get to the restaurant was on a December weekend and although we had reservations 5 months in advance, it was impossible to find a parking place within 5 blocks of the building. We were in SLC 45 minutes before our reservation time and didn't even come close to making it to the Roof on time. To their credit, they didn't charge us the no show fee due to all the events going on downtown that evening. Plan ahead, especially on weekends in December.
We did make it in to the restaurant the evening before Valentines Day and had a very nice table next to the window overlooking temple square and downtown. Great views and enough spacing between the tables that we didn't feel we were sitting in on other peoples conversations. The entire staff were friendly and very helpful with recommendations and service. The prime rib, fish and shrimp were delicious. The other items tasted like food that had been sitting out in a buffet and not so fresh. Take small samples of things that look good the first round and get a feel for what tingles the taste buds and then gorge on the good stuff after that. To me, it seems the price tag is a bit steep for the food but I figure it makes up for it in service, location and all you can eat. Having a great date to share it with certainly makes the experience so much more enjoyable. Bon appetite.
Went to this restaurant as it was labelled on of the best culinary experiences in SLC. The best way to describe the dinning experience would be a cruise ship on the 10th floor. There is nothing gourmet about a buffet.
The ambiance and views are incredible. The food was nothing special.
The roof is a great choice for any date night! It has a great view, friendly hosts, servers and waiters/waitresses. Food quality is amazing! You can’t go wrong with this restaurant!
The restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance is perfect. The view is gorgeous.
The price is a little high for the food arrangement in my opinion.
We were so disappointed. We used to go to the Roof 2 to 3x a year and we haven't been for about 2 years until last Saturday. The hostess looked like she just woke up. We asked our waitress to take our photo and she told us that she's so busy at the moment and she'll find someone else. The food was average. We will never go back nor recommend the Roof.
I liked The Roof restaurant tonight and it was a great evening. The piano was a little too loud and my date couldn’t hear from me for a while. Sometimes I felt like I had to shout to talk to her which was frustrating. The food was great but I wouldn’t say it’s worth $50 a plate. I’d rather have an entree I liked and an unlimited salad bar. The salad was super fresh and one of my favorite parts of the meal. Prime rib was meh, but I’m not a prime rib fan so don’t base you trying it on my opinion.
The food was great. The view was so incredible. Do NOT sit anywhere near the piano. It was incredibly loud and literally impossible to talk to my wife across the table without shouting. It kind of spoiled the experience.
Just a fantastic place to enjoy good food, great view, relaxing environment, kind and polite staff.
Just a great dining experience
The prime rib is always great but refills of specialty drinks are extra. The music is great but if you're expecting a formal atmosphere with a dress code look elsewhere. My husbands thoughts were "it felt like a rich Mormon funeral".
