Brunch was pretty good although pretty limited compared to past visits. The good news is that the price has dropped to just $25 per person, the bad news is that the scope and grandeur of the brunch buffet has been majorly cut back. Bear in kind we went on a Sunday, when you might expect the brunch to be more special than a weekday.
Now, it is closer to a Ritz version of other hotels' breakfast buffets. You still get omelettes as well as fresh waffles but the sushi, smoked fish, lunch entrees, and desserts are all gone. In their place/remaining are the standard bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, as well as pre-made eggs benedicts (pretty tasty). Was worth the $25 but we would've happily paid up to double that for the grand ritz brunch experience of prior years. Also, service was acceptable but clearly a step down from the past as well. I'd describe it as somewhat slow (coffee and mimosas took a while) and definitely less polished than expected. Host up front was very classy, however, with greeting us. Gentleman cooking omelettes did a good job cooking but seemed a bit stressed despite a light crowd. Frankly, we got a bit of an impression that we were putting him out by politely standing near his station while checking it out and considering our order and whether to place it at that time. We hadn't even said anything to him yet when he told us he'd be with us in a minute, as if the possibility that we might order then, as he finished his prior guests omelettes would be inappropriate. When we did order we felt compelled to inquire whether it was an "ok" time. He warmed up and was fine at that point. All in all I found myself wondering if they had a separate, nicer brunch in another restaurant at the Ritz. Perhaps there isn't a market for fancy Sunday brunch these days. I went from being awed in two prior visits to mildly underwhelmed. Mimosas were very good, however they were $14, a price more in line with their original brunch but less fitting to this version
The Ritz Restaurant is generally very good. Not today. While you can't beat the atmosphere for conducting an business meeting, the service and length of time it came for our meal to arrive was unacceptable, especially for the Ritz.
Cream on table curdled in the coffee, service was not attentive, and it took a very long time for our breakfast to come to the table.
The ambiance was great. the hostess was excellent. However our waitress was very aloof or was inexperienced. The omelet and waffle bar was taken in back, which was fine, but I couldn't get any answers about what my options were. Also she was hard to track down, and in the back a lot. The sausage was overcooked and inedible.
Also a heads up about the $13 basic bloody mary would have been nice.
We went out to the hotel bar for another drink and $36.00 for two cocktails was a bit much. Also more aloof stares from from the bartender, as we asked drink questions during our order.
I wouldn't have minded the pricing so much, if the service was adequate.
NY day brunch here was amazing! Full-on buffet with tons of options: sushi, waffles, made-to-order omelettes, prime rib, fruits, desserts, everything you can think of. The ambience is beautiful and elegant, and the service is truly outstanding! Tons of help available, all ready to meet your every need. It is pricey, but hey - this is the Ritz! It's also the best. Highly recommend for a special occasion brunch. You won't be disappointed.
Excellent buffet offering. Very good service. Wide variety of foods amazing displays. The food was fantastic. We have been here several times for a Holliday brunch and we are never disappointed. We also enjoy the regular restaurant as well. It always feels great to be there.
We love to come here for brunch. The food is consistently good. The wait staff is very attentive but not disruptive and the atmosphere is bright, and quiet which works well for our elderly parents. Unlike many restaurants, we can all hear each other and have a conversation.
We went to the Ritz for their "Ultimate Spread" breakfast on Father's Day. I was fearful of higher prices, big crowds and pretentious staff (my husband likes a little pretention now and then). I was thrilled to be wrong. The welcome was warm (even for my squirmy 6 year old), the seating immediate, the wait staff very friendly and down-to-earth, the room was lovely and the price was fantastic! They don't put on anything "special" for Father's Day and they don't raise the price, either. So for $23/adult we enjoyed pancakes, waffles, eggs benedict, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, yogurt, much fresh fruit, omelets to order, many special add-ins and toppings for pancakes and waffles. They are wise and provided a large, tri-fold coloring/activity page for the kids which really kept him engaged. So, not only were we pleased with the experience and the food, when the bill came our server had taken our son's meal off the bill, even though we anticipated paying the kid's half-price amount. She said she was pleased to see a boy try so many new things - so kind and encouraging. We will be back!
To say we thoroughly enjoyed our entire dining experience would be a huge understatement. Everything...the surroundings, the service and the food were JUST PERFECT. Josie took great care of us and the rest of the staff did too. They all worked as a team. The food was great and the cost actually very reasonable. We will definitely be returning...because even though we live in St. Louis we felt like we were on vacation.
A birthday luncheon for my best friend; it was a great choice. The service is always impeccable, friendly without being cloying. Josie took care of our table and took notice of the fact we were celebrating a birthday. A very nice surprise was their signature chocolate cake-dense, rich and heavenly. Have never been disappointed at our Clayton location Ritz Carlton.
Went for brunch. It's nowhere near the amazing variety of options it once was. Average breakfast buffet at best and a basic a la carte menu. Service was also lacking in comparison to visits a little less than a year ago. Will be finding a new place for brunch.
The Ritz is just a classic, you can't go anywhere and receive the service, and dining experience that The Ritz provides. It was my Birthday and everyone from the hostess to the servers wished me a Happy Birthday, the chef sent out a special piece of cake on a small tray with Happy Birthday written in chocolate. I felt like a queen, and my husband and I were just blown away with everything. The buffet is presented so well, and the chef making the omelets was great, bringing it to the table, so you did not have to stand in line, with a pleasure to serve you sir". You must go once to experience this wonderful brunch.
Service was slow and spotty. My colleague asked for a refill on coffee from 4 different people before it was actually done and then there were a bunch of coffee grounds in the coffee and no one around to help fix the problem. Food was not that good and overly expensive. I had a burger that had BBQ sauce that soaked through the bun and I couldn't pick up. Cooked well instead of medium as ordered.Took a long time to get our food and a long time for the server to check on us.
Took an out of town client to the Ritz for lunch with the hopes of impressing them - this did not happen at all. It took over 35 minutes to get our food (sandwiches & salads for 5), which seemed unreasonably long for lunch & then my client's steak sandwich was partially raw. Not medium as ordered or even rare, but completely raw in the center. Someone in the kitchen had to have cut up the steak for the sandwich & after 35 minutes it was crazy to me that raw food was sent out. We had to make a meeting so there was no way we could wait for the food to be corrected so my client just ate the parts of the sandwich that were cooked. Other people at the table commented on the saltiness of everything (pasta, chicken on salad, grouper for sandwich)
The Sunday brunch at "The Restaurant" has incredible omelettes cooked in front of you per the ingredients you request! Special tables with the best fruit, biscuits, different meats, oatmeal, pancakes, plus an extensive breakfast menu make this the best Sunday brunch in St. Louis! Did I mention the wonderful coffee?!
My wife and I made last minute reservations for Valentines dinner at the Restaurant at the Ritz, and it turned out really nice. For starters, the White asparagus cappuccino soup was fabulous. It was duster with grilled priscuitto, hearty and tasty. The spinach salad followed, and was great. Sweet, salty, tart and a boiled egg, great combo, and fabulous. The main course was a small filet, well cooked. The blackberry infused sauce was nice, but I was glad to have it on the side, as it would have been overwhelming. The side of bernaise my wife had was excellent. The desserts were great, my wife had amaretto ice cream filled profiteroles and I had strawberry and white chocolate mousse. Both were great. I would go back again.
