I don’t understand the practice when plates are cleared by the server, the used utensils are removed from the plate and put back on the table. In this case, put on a white tablecloth. Does the Ritz-Carlton have a shortage of flatware? Not a very sophisticated or appetizing practice.
The food was very good, but not many choices. A lackluster buffet.
Food and service was wonderful!
The food was excellent and the atmosphere is lovely. The service was excellent as it always is. We both had the cobb salad with fresh crab meat. They have the best ice tea in St. Louis. It is always a pleasure to dine there.
Always love the Ritz - great food at reasonable prices, friendly staff.... and you can have a conversation!
I always love to go there for birthday lunches with special friends! It’s beautiful, the food is delicious (V available) and the service and employees are exceptional. We had a great time. It’s a tradition. I’m going back with a bff and godchild in a few days.
For those of you who used to go to the Sunday Brunch at the Ritz STL years ago, over all quality has gone done significantly. The lay out and arrangement was very poor. First, the chairs are plastic, table cheaply made and unstable. Our table almost fell over. In addition, the table are cramped together to a great degree and table itself very small. To say the least, uncomfortable. The food was OK but no black caviar as before. Prime rib server would not cut the slab in the middle when I asked for a rare piece. So all in all, it was an OK Christmas Brunch but it lacked the class that Ritz brunch had in the past. Ritz could do much better in my opinion.
Servers were super nice and the food was outstanding. We had a tiny table by the buffet right in the middle of the path everyone else took to get to and from the buffet, so that was not ideal. Tables were small and crowded, and the chairs were also very small. Table was also very awkward because one of the two of us had to straddle a table leg no matter how we turned it, and the tablecloth was too long and we kept stepping on it. But we’ll go back next year because the food was wonderful. We’ll just request a table on the perimeter!
Service was terrible. This is the 5th year I have gone for Christmas brunch and I won’t be going again. The food was wonderful, as usual, but service was awful. I asked several times for a refill and never got it. Check was wrong when I got it and then it sat on the table for 15 minutes before the server came back (still without the refill). They were busy but the service is normally so much better. Time for a new Christmas tradition.
Perhaps it was the holiday but the service seems designed to leave you looking for servers to order etc. it’s a very slow place for average food but beautiful ambience.
We were there for a previous holiday and had the same result so it’s on us for not remembering it’s better to eat at the buffet versus the standard menu at the grill. So even if they say they are open for lunch avoid that hour of the day and wait for dinner
Best pancakes in St louis and great service. Waitress was incredibly accommodating.
Used to be a much better food items to choose from, needs to improve cigar bar menu
This is the second year we've had Thanksgiving at the Ritz. The staff who work there are wonderful. The variety of foods is really good. Desserts are fantastic. It's always festive; we love it.
We celebrate our birthdays with lunch at the Ritz and have for many, many years. We love it!!! Aida the server is great and very charming and helpful. We always have liked all the employees. The food is yummy!!! Veg friends like the quinoa. I often order fish or a salad. It’s so pretty in the dining room, and on birthdays, we love the special desserts! We also have gone on other occasions including, in past years, to Sunday brunch. My husband and I like to go to the Grill for special occasions.
The food was good but overpriced for what you get. I could get the same food , just as good for half the price at other restaurants.
VERY LOUD politically opinionated guests at table next to us
Our group of 4 waited for over and hour and our food NEVER came. There are obviously issues in the kitchen. I would rate it a zero but that was not available either. Definitely not to Ritz Carlton standards.
I was very pleased with the service. Aida was our server she was very attentive and welcoming.
I took a friend here for her birthday. We had an inordinately long wait time from the time we were seated until we got our menus, and then another long wait when we asked for the lunch menu instead of the brunch menu, but after that it was all fine. The food was very good and of course the atmosphere can't be beat.
Excellent service. The waitress was so very nice and helpful. We had a very nice time and the buffet was delicious. We will be returning!
We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at the Ritz Carlton Restaurant two days in a row. I particularly liked the eggs Benedict as part of the buffet. My husband enjoyed the chicken apple sausage and the omelette station where they will also make eggs over easy perfectly. Also, The coffee was fresh and hot. I would be happy to go back there. The selections were ample but you can only eat so much we would have to go back several times to comment on all the foods. The restaurant was aesthetically pleasing and very clean. The staff was accommodating and very professional.
The coffee was hot and fresh! The eggs Benedict was wonderful!
It was fabulous: quiet atmosphere, attentive service and validated valet parking, an added bonus. Very fun time.
I liked the venue for Mothers Day. I thought the price was outrageous - $90 per person for a buffet!!
Lovely setting for Mother’s Day Brunch. The restaurant was filled to capacity which limited the intimacy that one gets used to of most Ritz-Carlton establishments. Several notable St. Louisans in attendance, food above average, and excellent service.
Was disappointed as we had the Easter brunch. There were 12 of us and we were jammed together at our table. There were not enough waiters taking care of the tables. The presentation of food was awesome and the selection varied. I would not do a busy brunch there again. There was an adorable display of live chicks baby ducks and goats and rabbits.
Was not blown away by the food, especially at a premium price for the Easter Buffet. Our small room was extremely loud - they need to do some work in there. Our party of 5 was seated at a table for 8, so conversation was difficult on top of the poor acoustics.
Very nice overall. We celebrated a friend’s birthday. Had lunch.
used to be one of the best brunches in St. Louis, very disappointing now. Very simple selection, service is poor, some of the staff needs a lot of training. Couple ladies who worked there for many years are the only positive value left to this sad place. Wont go back for brunch to this place again, after so many chances to see if any improvement was made, but it is only more disappointing every time we try.
Not worth the price. The crab cakes and sushi were the best part. Nothing else special
Elegant Christmas buffet! I was looking for a special place for Christmas dinner. We were visiting from out of town with a relative who is unable to cook. The Ritz delivered. This is apparently an on-going tradition but I was not aware of it. The staff was wonderful, so friendly and attentive! The food was varied and extravagant, just what's called for on a special day. It's pricey but worth it.
Came for th brunch for Christmas. There was no brunch available as hotel occupancy was low. Orders from the menu. We had 6 people and 5 were unhappy with their food. Everything was very overlooked. Our waitress was nice but didn't come back to refill drinks. We got our own Coffee pot after waiting several minutes. Our breakfast was $30 ea and certainly not worth it.
I always like meeting client at the Ritz for lunch. It's easy to get seated. It's quiet. The service is terrific and personable. The food is good and competitively-priced.
Fantastic as always! The staff are amazing! We wI’ll be back!
Brunch was pretty good although pretty limited compared to past visits. The good news is that the price has dropped to just $25 per person, the bad news is that the scope and grandeur of the brunch buffet has been majorly cut back. Bear in kind we went on a Sunday, when you might expect the brunch to be more special than a weekday.
Now, it is closer to a Ritz version of other hotels' breakfast buffets. You still get omelettes as well as fresh waffles but the sushi, smoked fish, lunch entrees, and desserts are all gone. In their place/remaining are the standard bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, as well as pre-made eggs benedicts (pretty tasty). Was worth the $25 but we would've happily paid up to double that for the grand ritz brunch experience of prior years. Also, service was acceptable but clearly a step down from the past as well. I'd describe it as somewhat slow (coffee and mimosas took a while) and definitely less polished than expected. Host up front was very classy, however, with greeting us. Gentleman cooking omelettes did a good job cooking but seemed a bit stressed despite a light crowd. Frankly, we got a bit of an impression that we were putting him out by politely standing near his station while checking it out and considering our order and whether to place it at that time. We hadn't even said anything to him yet when he told us he'd be with us in a minute, as if the possibility that we might order then, as he finished his prior guests omelettes would be inappropriate. When we did order we felt compelled to inquire whether it was an "ok" time. He warmed up and was fine at that point. All in all I found myself wondering if they had a separate, nicer brunch in another restaurant at the Ritz. Perhaps there isn't a market for fancy Sunday brunch these days. I went from being awed in two prior visits to mildly underwhelmed. Mimosas were very good, however they were $14, a price more in line with their original brunch but less fitting to this version
Kids were too loud and nobody seemed to care.
We enjoyed our lunch for our son's graduation from college. Great lunch choices, wonderful and welcoming staff, tasty food and a feeling of luxury in the room. Very nice experience.
Lunch was good. Dessert was amazing.
Brunch with mother and my son. WONDERFUL.
Mothers Day Brunch was excellent!
The Ritz Restaurant is generally very good. Not today. While you can't beat the atmosphere for conducting an business meeting, the service and length of time it came for our meal to arrive was unacceptable, especially for the Ritz.
Cream on table curdled in the coffee, service was not attentive, and it took a very long time for our breakfast to come to the table.
