The Ritz-Carlton Grill Ratings and Reviews
Valentines Day set menu was excellent, but the hostess seated us next to the kitchen door. The dining room was only half full with many good tables empty during our meal. The dining experience was unpleasant with a constant parade of waiters moving past our table. We are Clayton residents and this was our first visit to Ritz-Carlton Grill. Most likely will not return.
We had so much fun! The service was perfection - our own great server and all the people assisting her, and the lovely host. Everyone went out of their way to do something special. The food - wow! We loved every single course. We also lucked out and got a bottle of Mondavi Select Cabernet Sauvignon as part of the meal. Thanks - we’ll be back for the next special occasion!
We celebrated our 50th anniversary at the Ritz Carlton Grill. The evening was quite lovely. Our server was attentive without being obtrusive. We both ordered the filet, served in a salt block. The steaks were prepared as ordered and using the hot salt block to further sear and season was great. The side of asparagus was just just right.
Our desserts completed a wonderful dinner evening and we certainly return.
Once again our dinner at The Grill was outstanding. We got a groupon that said a $186 dinner was $100 which was great and we didn’t feel like we were going on the cheap. I had the Halibut which was outstanding and my wife had the filet which didn’t feel small even at 6oz.
The dinner came with a bottle of wine, salad and an outstanding dessert. And the service was awesome.
This is an underrated experience in St.Louis.
The food was very good but the service was awful. The waitress was not friendly, wouldn't look us in the eye, and was very soft spoken. She brought us bread and drinks and then we sat for about 20 minutes, not really sure if she was our server or not, she never introduced herself. It was very far below our expectation at the Rtiz.
Had not dined here in a number of years. The weight staff and hostess where professional, polite and friendly - everything one expects from Ritz-Carlton service. Unfortunately, the place was dead. I could see this being more active during the week and for earlier dinners, still, it was shockingly quite at 7:30pm on a Saturday. The lobby bar and Cigar Club were plenty active but The Grill was less than "happening", even for the older demographic which tends to be more comfortable with this price point. The food was good, though far from inspired. I can appreciate a simple menu but The Grill's menu was more uninspired than brief. Admittedly, I don't tend to have dinner when traveling and staying at other Ritz-Carltons (usually just breakfasts and lunches), so perhaps there just ins't much focus on providing an exciting dinner option; that being said, at the prices charged, a more inventive menu with more exciting options and better wine selection would still seem appropriate for the venue. I always appreciate Ritz-Carlton service and professionalism, but I think The Grill needs a complete overhaul in terms of menu, decor and general focus. Perhaps an expanded menu with some updated dishes that would help draw in more customers. Then again, maybe that's just not a concern. As for me, I don't see a reason to return to The Grill anytime soon.
The food portion of our evening was excellent. The Cesar salad contained just right amount of anchovy in the dressing. Our filet entree was prepared as ordered and was tender and flavorful. Our issues were with service. Twice water was spilled on the table, once by the bus boy and once by the server. No apology and no clean up. Second, our completed salad bowls remained too long on the table before being removed. For the most part service was just OK but totally indifferent. This is the Ritz Carlton and they should do better. Overall my wife and I had a nice evening but it should have been a great evening.
The Grill was closed for the evening so we ended up in the dining room. The staff was wonderful and the chef walked around and made recommendations... then came back as we were finishing up our meal for more pleasant conversation. It was a great meal: impeccably prepared and graciously served.
