The Riggsby is a classic. It’s intimate, nostalgic, a little lost in time, cozy, kind of refined, yet definitely playful. The Riggsby is part of the neighborhood. It’s the “go to” place, where the bartender treats you like you’ve been coming in for years, even if it’s your first time stopping by.View Private Dining Details
What Insiders Are Saying
Attached to the Carlyle Hotel in DuPont, The Riggsby does everything “classic” extremely well.
The Riggsby was a great restaurant. Food was great - make sure to try the smoked trout. The bar was well stocked with a really superb bartender.
One of our favorite spots for brunch in DC!
Can't say enough good things about this spot! From the first greeting from our server to the closing "thank you" from the manager, it was a pitch-perfect experience. Highly-recommended for a date night or special occasion; the dining room nails the "supper club" ambiance.
Service needs improvement. Staff were rushed and feigning interest. Oysters were the worst I’ve ever had.
I read reviews of patrons before I chose to book my dinner at the Riggsby. The reviews which lauded the quality of the food and service were spot on.
The chicken dish was simply gorgeous. The service was excellent.
I would be glad to return when next I’m in Washington DC.
One of the best restaurants I have been to. The food was delicious and the service was great!
My family went here for my mom’s birthday and were so pleased with the courteous service, the high quality of the food and its presentation, and the cozy ambience. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Everything we hd was truly delicious. I highly recommend the deviled eggs, goat cheese and jalapeño croquettes for appetizers and the beef Wellington and spaghetti specials. We had the chocolate cake for dessert - it won an award in the Washingtonian magazine for being the best in the city. I can see why. We love coming here and will be back!
?The waiter was excellent - very helpful with useful suggestions for a vegetarian mea for one of us.
Food was great - as usual!l
Sunday Brunch with my boyfriend and friends. Everything was delicious right down to their famous chocolate cake. I wanted another one to be honest. SO good. Will definitely recommend!
Fabulous dinner for FIL’s 70th Birthday!
Our server who began with the table was bad. The bar was backed up which was no fault of his, but he was dismissive and rude when asked what the issue was with drinks after 15 minutes. Meanwhile the restaurant was empty but the bartender had a full bar of diners- ie he wasn’t paying attention/didn’t care about the drink orders from the restaurant. The server also disappeared for 10 minutes.
I will give a lot of credit to the manager. He came in and took over the table and he was fantastic. I come here often and the server and his reaction would have made me not come back, but the manager really did a great job and should be commended.
Great neighborhood gem
The food was good and the atmosphere was kind of cool, but there was nothing super noteworthy. The bar looks cool - seems like if I came back, it would be to have a drink at the bar.
Great find. Visiting the Georgetown area for a few days. Best service we’ve had in a restaurant in a very long time. We had multiple folks stop at our table to make sure everything was ok. The entire staff pitched in. It was great to see. Would definitely go back.
Clearly no Captain at the helm. I dined here previously and had a delightful meal, but then again the owner/chef was in the kitchen. Times have unfortunately changed as the kitchen appeared to be staffed by short order cooks. The salmon entre was so salty that it was inedible, lamb chops were served on a pool of greenish goo and tasted like old muton. My wife’s duck serving was so small that even with her petite frame left her hungry. A side order of zucchini was also served on the green goo. At $100 a head without a bottle of wine - what a joke.
Great food with impressive seafood selection , friendly professional wait staff always 2 steps ahead. A neighborhood gem with a cozy environment that makes you want to come back for more. Arguably the best happy hour in Dupont or Logan. With no store front signage Riggsby has a clubby atmosphere that adds to the overall charm of this restaurant.
What a gem! Our first visit to The Riggsby was Labor Day weekend. The food -- incredible! The wine list -- exquisite! Cocktails -- perfect! And I found why they have the best chocolate cake in the District. Especially the service -- Robert was great. Strong recommendations, attentive. I cannot say enough about this place.
One of our favorite spots in DC, never disappoints. Cool mid-century atmosphere. Great food!
Excellent service, delicious food, cool Art Deco setting. We’ll be back!
Amazing place. The service was excellent. The staff is very warm and friendly. I loved the food and they even gave me a free dessert for my birthday!
The food was very average and the service was not good. There was a lot of staff around but no one seemed to have a defined role or assigned tables.
Nice ambiance and staff. On time reservation.
Very good gazpacho. Food delivered on time.
Rest of meal was fine, no complaints but nothing special. Nice presentation
We went to the Riggsby for the first time during Restaurant Week. The food was delicious! It is great for brunch with half price bottles of champagne. The spaghetti dish was absolutely delicious with so much flavor. Definitely going back!
My friends and I had Restaurant Week brunch at The Riggsby and highly enjoyed it. We all tried different things from the tasting menu and everything was great, especially the desserts! Service was very friendly - we never felt rushed, and they were accommodating to my friend with a dairy allergy.
I passed by The Riggsby in the past because I felt iffy about going to a hotel restaurant when there are so many new exciting places in the city, but it has a great ambiance and feels like a small, tastefully decorated tavern. Will definitely be back.
Staff were caring and attentive when visiting for brunch with my partner to celebrate our anniversary, and even included a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. Food was excellent!
Great service at table and food! Hostess needs some work, but everything else great!
great food - try the salmon:-), great service, love the atmosphere
We ate there during restaurant week with thier special menu. We both had the salmon which was wonderful.
Con: even after an Opentable reservation, we were told there was a “glitch” and had to wait approximately 20 minutes to get a table.
Pro: they gave us a complimentary cocktail.
The food was very good and the atmosphere was lovely.
We hadn’t dined here in several months, but we had a superb meal. The roast chicken is excellent, as always, but the real star was the duck confit, which is a new addition to the menu.
A bit pricey but worth it. Great food and service. Halibut is great as well as the salmon. Salads are big, they can be an entry by themselves. Roasted chicken is a must to try. Chocolate cake for dessert is the best.
Love this place! Good was amazing and service was top notch! Great find!!
Many waiters at many times.. distracting and no continuity of service. My Branzino was not as juicy as I had hoped. Maybe because it was a Monday night.
Even the Caesar salad was not up to par for a restaurant as fancy as The Rigsby. My partner had the roasted chicken and he liked it very much.
The Riggsby is a great place. The staff is friendly, attentive and professsional. The brunch food is great! I highly recommend the spaghetti. And they regularly update their cocktail menu.
Wonderful experience, as always. Introduced yet another friend to The Riggsby and it did not disappoint!!
CONSISTENTLY EXCELLENT FOOD , WAITERS, NEVER DISAPPOINT
As usual, welcoming service and excellent food. One of the best places in DC to have a fine dinner with conversation.
Came for the lauded pancakes which were mediocre at best...luke warm with a strangely sandy texture. The rest of the food was lackluster. Another DC disappointment where the hype equals an underwhelming and overpriced event. On another note, I have had the cocktails here before and strongly recommend all the items on the classic cocktail menu.
Went for Sunday brunch. Food was good, the service better.
Some of the best food in Dupont, Logan or Adams Morgan today. A hidden Gem located at the Carlyle Hotel. Lively scene at bar, attentive service and creative cuisine offering great variety.
