The food was great! The ambiance very enlivening. Will go back soon and often with friends. Great value!
The service was superb
It made our evening
The food was delicious, literally amazing. The service was great. Perfect for an expensive date night.
We went to Riggsby for a business lunch. The restaurant was not crowded, we were seated promptly (we had reservations), and we were served in a timely manner. I will return!
Fun, and posh ambiance, and food is always good. Though this time the wedge salad lettuce was a little on the wilted side and I don't know why they can't provide a full wedge. Regardless, fun menu items, albeit a little overpriced. Usually able to get a reservation when in a bind on the weekend.
I am not sure how to rate this restaurant to be honest. While everything I saw leaving the kitchen was beautiful and looked tasty. And the food we received was definitely fine, while not being anything special or memorable, on the level I would come back and try some of the other menu items EXCEPT the service was so exceptionally bad I will not return. Our waitress when she came to the table at all, not once but three times dropped items on me from behind, which I can deal with since none was liquid. But she did not apologize once for it. We ordered a bottle of champagne for mimosas and after she slammed the bottle into the table, again with no apology just left it there. From what I can tell we were the only ones not offered a ice bucket to keep it in. Not once but twice did another person in my party get up to refill our tables coffee with the carafes they had sitting out at a station and then another time to refill our water. The manager did bring our food out and I could not tell if this was because our bad service or just because. Either way for a bill of $170.00 for four people, I would say go somewhere that provides just even decent service.
The service was outstanding. The food was good but not amazing. We enjoyed the first course better than the entrees. Still a nice experience though.
So disappointed with the food. Tasteless omelette, cold Benedict, and overcooked poached eggs in a $21 hash.
*Update: manager sent personal follow up emails to learn more about the meal and how to improve. Hope to return soon for a meal. Thanks for reaching out, Josh.
Beautiful restaurant- excellent food and service. Beef carpaccio was delicious, as was the pork chop and the creme brûlée. Highly recommend!
We stopped by for lunch on Sunday. Food was ok, but overpriced. The service was slow and inattentive. This is our second and last time eating at Riggsby. With so many interesting, excellent places around, no need to spend our money on just something barely average.
Excellent service and chicken Caesar salad for lunch. They seated in us in a quieter area as requested which was perfect. Nice ambience.
They did not have all the wine advertised on the menu. And service a bit slow.
It was overall good, but they sat our party at a table in the bar area and the bartender was a little overwhelmed tryin to serve us and all the other customers.
Fantastic service and delicious food!!
Service from the beginning was erratic but they rallied to compensate us for the slow start. Still, too many missteps for a dinner that costs $150 per person. Food was good except for cioppino that was more sauce than broth and way too salty. Shame because the seafood in it was really good.
Excellent food and service...as usual
Very fine chicken preparation. Excellent strip steak. Terrific service.
Used to be so good! Not so great Saturday evening. Drink was watered down (left to sit too long). Chopped salads had none of the promised thousand island dressing...pasta special was bland and noodles over cooked; cheese course was a mess (and sever made up the names). Took a look over at the kitchen and the chef was yawning in the pass through. Not a good sign. C’mon Riggsby you have so much going for you - but you need to try!!!
This was a huge disappointment. We booked dinner based on online reviews and the fact that it was close to our hotel. The service was incredibly poor from start to finish. The hostess barely greeted us and had trouble finding our opentable reservation. This was at 6:30pm on a Friday night and the restaurant had just two tables seated. We were a few minutes early and she asked if we wanted to be seated. It was an odd question. What else would we do? Stand at the entrance? We ordered drinks that never came. Nor did our appetizer. After 15 minutes, a food runner appeared with our entrees and remained silent when we told her our drinks and appetizers were missing, slinking away backwards to set our food to cool on a counter within view. Our waiter appeared and casually informed us the bar was out of one of the drink ingredients. So, just one of us finally received a drink. This caused the runner to carry back our now lukewarm meals. We decided to decline when the waiter asked if we wanted still wanted our appetizer. The worst part: the food was terrible! A below average hamburger with stale French fries and and a pasta steeped in a tasteless tomato and corn water. Even copious heaps of grated cheese didn’t help. We couldn’t wait to leave. There was never an apology. It was very strange. One last negative tidbit—there were dead bugs visible in the drum light pendants overhead. Yuck.
This is a nice, ordinary hotel restaurant. Neither good nor bad. As such, it was a disappointment. I was expecting an exceptional restaurant that just happened to be in a hotel. This was not it. There was nothing objectionable about it, but I see no reason to come back. The food was good, capably prepared, but not exceptional.
Hidden gem! Not sure why we never heard of this place but it is seriously good. Every dish was wonderful service was great. The waiter was knowledgeable and helpful. Lovely, old school ambiance.
A+ for ambiance. This was a great choice for my out of town friends. Service was attentive and pleasant. Prices are reasonable for the portion! Home sliced potatoes come with almost every dish.
The only issue (which was fine we ordered regular drinks) I though went the menu stated $15 for their mimosa box that included champagne. 1/2 off meaning regular was $30...
To our surprise it was 1/2 the bottle ranging $55 & up plus $15 for juice. Not unreasonable, but definitely out of my budget.
Normal mimosa is $8 and decently priced for a DC brunch!
I’ll be back! Thanks The Riggsby for amazing time.
I went with a group of people for dinner on Saturday night for my birthday. My in-laws brought in a cake for me and were not notified that there was a $15 cutting fee per person. Additionally, before consulting us, they preemptively cut the cake, and did not bring out to me first. The manager noted that he would waive the cutting fee, as though it was a courtesy on his part.
Additionally, my mom specifically asked our waiter ahead of time if her food would be served as a hot dish and he assured her that it would be. 20 minutes later it was served to her cold.
The waiter seemed a bit disorganized as well.
Cute décor, delicious food and cocktails. Service outstanding, our waitress split an order of soup my friend and I were sharing without even asking us! So thoughtful.
Professional, elegant excellent quality and attention to detail. Friendly And pleasant!
We went for our anniversary date, and our waiter Kareem was absolutely amazing from start until we literally where on our way out the door. His conversation and professionalism while still being able to have fun doing his job was outstanding. The restaurant manager was very professional & the ambience/cleanliness of everything was top notch. The food was AMAZING. Best New York strip I’ve ever had. The desserts are 10/10. Will definitely be going back!
Used to be our favorite go to place. Service was horrible, food was extremely delayed. Waiter never acknowledged the delay and the manager blamed poor service and food on a wedding happening in the hotel. One of the signature dishes their chicken came out dry and the bartender spilled a drink all over the back of my shirt.
Karim was an amazing server. Food was exceptional as always. Will be back soon.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Staff suggestions were helpful. Food was delicious. Will be back.
Took very long to order. Server wasn’t very attentive, think he had too many tables. My order also wasn’t done correctly.
Burgers where really good!
Everything we ate was excellent. The most minor of nits would be the tarragon flavor of the aioli that came with the perfectly cooked calamari was a bit overpowering and the bananarama pudding was a bit too crunchy and could've used more booze to balance its sweetness.
A bit pricey, but since we were both completely satisfied and it was a wonderful evening, the cost was ultimately worth it.
The service was very attentive and friendly. We definitely had to speak with a raised voice.
The food was fantastic, but the service was better.
My husband and I have eaten here a number of times. The deviled eggs were great, but the rest of the meal was mixed. I had salmon, which was excellent. My husband had the pork chop. He's had it before and loved it. This time it was overcooked. They offered to remake it, but then we would've had a very lopsided meal, so he said no. This is not the first time we've had a problem with a dish, but decided to give them another try. For the prices they charge for main courses, they really should do better.
We found this gem just off Dupont Circle last year. We had to go back. It is pricey -- any diner should know that in advance. But the food, drink -- and most especially, the service -- are peerless. Highly recommend for that special night of dining.
Food was immaculately prepared, and interesting without being showy. Nice ambiance.
Great brunch food, superlative attention, somewhat pricey.
Always great love this place
Even though the dinning room isn't that large, the noise level is. My friend and I had to talk loud in order to hear ourselves.
The brunch meal we had was good--nothing overly special or pretentious. The blueberry cobbler was delicious with just enough sweetness not to overpower the ice cream.
One complaint I did have is the $5 charge for a cup of coffee. Not even Starbucks charges that much for plain decaf.
Unfortunately, our experience wasn't as good as we expected.
Coffee and mimosas were awful, no discussion about that. Service was slow, but they apologized for that, so at least they acknowledge it, and although the food didn't taste bad (well there was lots of cream and bacon!) the avocado toast had hardly any avocado on it.
So, all in all, poor. I would not recommend it.
