This was my second time going to the Riggsby during a DC restaurant week and I’m sad to say this second time was extremely disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, the food was great! But the service was some of the worst I’ve had. Our reservation was at 11, and we were seated promptly only to not have a single waiter come over to take our order until 11:32. Our waitress gave a half-hearted excuse explaining she didn’t know we were her table. When she took our order, she kept getting everything wrong (we’d say ‘croquettes’ , she’d repeat back ‘yogurt’) and we had to correct her numerous times. The food was brought over fairly promptly by other servers, but we never received our drinks. Our waitress never came back to check on us, but decided to wait on hand and foot at her newest table right behind us. We kept trying to get her attention, she’d look at us, and then quickly turned away. When she finally came by to give us out check, she commented “I took off the drinks cause I see you never got them. But I can make some for you now and it would be free of charge?” And we told her no, that we just wanted to pay and leave. When twenty minutes later our cards were still not back at our table, another waitress comes over with the drinks we had said no to. We asked this waitress to politely send them back and to have our cards back so we could leave. Our waitress finally comes back to our table With our cards and added with a rude attitude that she was “trying to make things right” for us by sending over the drinks. It was rude that she wasn’t listening to what we asked for throughout the entire time, not checking on us once (nor did the manager...), and then once again refuses to accept our decline of the drinks. I don’t think my friends and I will be going back for some time. I understand it was Restaurant Week, but it was the very end of the extended weekend and the place was not nearly as busy as I’ve seen it before. Every other table had an attentive waiter, but ours not.
The bartending staff was rude. Service was very slow, food was OK. Took 30 minutes for a cocktail to arrive--our waitress took it off the bill but still poor service.
The thing that impressed me the most is the service at this restaurant. It was outstanding! We went for the extended restaurant week and were all impressed by the decor and service and the fact that you completely forget that you are in a hotel. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. Not much flavor and very bland. :( Maybe I should go back for brunch and see if that's better.
Went for Restaurant Week. The first course was Brussel Sprouts which were good, but Chicken Milanese was dried out and pretty tasteless and the chocolate tarte was like chocolate pudding in a stale pie crust. When the restaurant filled up it got very loud.
Service was spotty. Appetizers good but then a long time until entrees arrived. One entree ok the other poor. Chicken Milanese was tasteless & dry. Server never came to check on us.
Had to flag someone down to get the check. Then was the next surprise. Listed at the bottom was a charge called “Love”. We asked server what that was & he THEN produced a card that basically said — we love our staff please help us help them. I am outraged that the restaurant would arbitrarily add a charge like that. If they want to help their staff, THEY should pay them. We won’t be back
Another top-notch restaurant by Michael Schlow. This was my second visit to The Riggsby and it was awesome. The staff was helpful, welcoming and knowledgeable...but more importantly, the food was fabulous. I love the atmosphere and menu choices. I had a Schlow Burger for lunch and it now ranks in the Top 5 burgers I've ever eaten. The location makes it a little hard to spot, but don't let that stop you from trying this place. It's a hidden gem and is on my permanent 'go to' list for lunch and dinner.
Went for restaurant week brunch to gather friends and celebrate my birthday. Food was fantastic. Drinks were okay - ran out of Bellinis even though that’s a classic drink offered on their brunch menu. Service needed improvement - orders were collected haphazardly, took forever to order drinks when we sat down, then another long period of time to order our food that we had to ask if we could put our food order in. They did look pretty busy, but other tables turned during our brunch, so it wasn’t like everyone was experiencing slow service, just our group. Otherwise, would come back for the ambiance and menu outside of restaurant week.

Since it was restaurant week it was very crowded and the service was rather slow. I ordered a second glass of wine for my main course but since I had almost finished when it arrived, I canceled the order.
We had a reservation for 8:15pm and didn’t get seated until 9pm.
Food was delicious. It was restaurant week, didn't seem like they could keep up with orders. Took a long time to get our food.

They must have been too busy with restaurant week guests, because they really did not focus on us and our need to be out by a certain time for a curtain. One of the diners did not order off the restaurant week menu, and the kitchen did not get that. The starter came later because they had to make it after the fact, and then the entree was the wrong pasta sauce. Even then either the sesame seeds or the bread crumbs on the pasta tasted off a bit (but that was not mentioned to the staff, better just to eat and get done). The desserts came too late, and we were ready to leave, so we hurried to gobble them down. Normally our meals here have been very nice, and normally the food is very good, but they were having a bad night for sure.
Nice restaurant with excellent service and very good food. The open dining area can be very loud when full and diners are all carrying on conversations.
We have dined here many times and will again, and again! This is our special place. Superb food and service. The Riggsby is always on top of it's game!
I can't wait to go back to The Riggsby.
My companion and I had very different lunch entrees. She had a hamburger (with frites) and I had mussels (with frites). The hamburger was delicious. The mussels were the best I have eaten in a long time. The frites were fine.
Our server was attentive without being annoying. In fact, she was one of the highlights of a wonderful dining experience.
Both of us will be back.
Now that was spectacular! I loved the breakfast potatoes, the homemade sausage, and my delicious omelette. Also, excellent coffee!! I’m coming back!

Our waiter was spectacular-nice, gracious, witty, he checked on us, but wasn’t annoying or intrusive. He made the night! The food was good, but not amazing considering the prices-such as a 4(?)oz. piece of salmon for $34. Dining room is a little old fashioned. We were one of five occupied tables, so felt empty. Again, the waiter made the night!
The manager was acting as a bartender and server this Saturday afternoon for brunch and he was AWESOME 😎 , and the food was great! I will be returning again.
Ordered the small plate duck and it’s was too tough. Also had the scalliops and didn’t care for the Rosetta. Nice place. Just not for us.

Outstanding on all measures. Good food, service and quiet enough to have a conversation among friends. The hostess and manager were especially gracious.
One of my "go to" restaurants when I'm trying to have a conversation with my guests. The setting is relaxed, yet elegant and I love the round booths. Food and service are always great!

I liked the location and the menu is good. The wedge salad tasted great. It it wasn’t a complete wedge, it was a slice. Because I don’t do carbs I replaced my potatoes with creamed spinach. It came to the table in a cold cast iron skillet. No telling how long it had been sitting. The Steak was good but not great, the Au Poive sauce tasted good but there were no peppercorns and very little pepper flavor. Overall it worked for my business dinner but given the just ok taste of the meal they were over priced.

Dinner was lovely and the service was excellent, though our server seemed a bit stretched. But overall we had a wonderful dining experience and the kitchen was quite accommodating with our dietary restrictions.
The Riggsby is a hidden gem! I've been here several times, for lunch and dinner, and it has never disappointed. One of my favorite restaurants in a city full of great places to eat.
The wait was long for just ordering the entrees. Waiter didn’t tell us about the special. I heard him telling the couple next to us.
