It’s the “go to” place, where the bartender treats you like you’ve been coming in for years, even if it’s your first time stopping by.

We really enjoyed a family dinner, with an interesting menu, including vegetarian options, in a traditional (booths, wood panelled) setting. The menu is just the right length - it doesn’t require an extra hour- and the wine list, while limited, was fine too. To top it off, the bartender makes an excellent dry Manhattan!

This was our first time dining here. I brought my husband to celebrate his birthday. We enjoyed our meals. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The manager stopped by to check on us. The service staff occassionally came to our table to fill up our water. The environment was very nice and cozy. Thank you!

The food was fine, I got the pork chop that would have not been good on it's own except for the addition of the sausage/pepper/onion broth that is poured over it and left to soak in. My wife got the a pasta dish with mushrooms which came out lukewarm and really lacked in taste.

Two of our party ordered hamburgers - which were excellent as always (as were the fries). The "box" with four choices of juices goes wonderfully with the nice cava on offer. Very nice idea. However the eggs benedict was a big disappointment. First of all it arrived cold (after a long-ish wait), the spinach which was obviously put on the English muffin way in advance was soggy and fell apart and the Hollandaise sauce was tasteless. It's a very loud dining room when it's full - if you like that sort of thing. Wait staff was nice and efficient once you got their attention (it was packed). We requested a quiet table (by the bar) and were seated in the middle of the dining room next to the kitchen.

We had 8pm reservations, and didn't get seated until 9:20pm. Then, our server never came over. 15 minutes later, we flagged down another server, who did his best to juggle our table along with his section. They brought out food we didn't order and the food we did order was mediocre at best.

We enjoyed very basic fare that was well-prepared and delicious. My dining partner and I split a classic shrimp cocktail and an order of deviled eggs for an appetizer - very good. Salads were fresh, perfectly dressed, and an appropriate size. My partner had the scallops that were perfectly cooked and I enjoyed the roast chicken. All courses were very good.

The Riggsby has a good breakfast, I wouldn’t consider it a brunch destination however. Most of the other diners looked like hotel guests. The food was good, and the menu was basic but covered the essentials.

Lunch with a friend. I had the crispy chicken sandwich which was recommended by the waitress. She asked if I wanted to add avocado and egg. I agreed. It was an excellent choice and the fries were fantastic as well. Everything that we ordered was priced appropriately for the amount of food given.

The woman at the desk acted like a wicked witch! I had asked for a booth or banquette if available. She said none were available as my husband and I stared at three such seatings. I explained that I had asked for a booth or banquette, at which point she repeated exactly what I told her. She went away in a huff and finally seated us in one if the available booths. Our server was fabulous. We had our 2-year old grandson with us who created quite a mess and caused my husband to spill my wine. She helped clean up everything and even gave me more wine. The food was great and except for the cold greeting by the hostess, we had a wonderful dinner.

Came for Saturday brunch with a few friends. Ordered the Duck Confit Hash as recommended by our server. The dish was mostly potatoes and only a few very small pieces of duck. There were to be 2 poached eggs on top of the hash. One of the poached eggs was actually just a ball of egg whites made to look like it was a whole egg. The other poached egg was overdone and was very small. Once I realized the egg issue, we were already into the meal and I didn't want to detract from my friends...since it was more about getting together, anyway. But, was disappointed overall with the meal and sort of felt like maybe the kitchen thought I wouldn't notice it was just a ball of egg whites? Certainly not worth the price given the small amount of duck and really only one egg. If you are going here, maybe make a different choice of entree.

Grabbed a Saturday morning brunch at the Riggsby for our Valentine’s Day celebration. The food was delicious and well-seasoned. Prices were fair, though the champagne bottles were terribly overpriced, so we opted to purchase individual cocktails. The cocktails, especially the Paloma, were perfectly balanced. I would certainly return for a dinner or another brunch.

The service was not so great, as had to ask for bread for the twin toddlers. They started to set the table with new forks but the food still had not arrive. Valentine's day menu was 200 for 2 people, would be fine if the food was anywhere decent which it wasn't. Expected better level of service, shouldn't have to ask other waiters when the food was coming repeatly.

This is usually my favorite restaurant, but our Valentine’s Day experience was far below standard. We were told we could order from the normal menu before hand, but when we arrived were told that we could only order from the pre-fixe. The service was slow and infrequent. The full pre-fixe menu wasn’t even available. The entree was poorly prepared. We were served the wrong dish multiple times. It was very disappointing to have this level of service from what is usually an excellent restaurant.

The food was great however be warned. They put an up charge right under tax on your bill called “labor of love”. Seemed sketchy and other people around us were confused as well. If labor costs are rising, they should just increase the cost of food, not insert a random up charge on the receipt. Very sketchy and confusing.

Okay, you have to accept that it was Valentine’s Day and you were on a bit of a production line. However paying $125 each for a Three course meal where the main course of “Dover Soul” should frankly have been thrown back in to give it a chance to grow to a decent size, was extortionate .There was more meat on my sons goldfish .Why the chef thought the accompaniments of Brussels & cauliflower were all that was required , or even required at all I’m not sure .Yes the soup tasted ok , but why the nuts ,which apart from putting my fillings in great danger ,did nothing to enhance the dish . Ok as I say it was Valentines .....but a choice of two sweets ....they can easily be prepared beforehand & stuck in the fridge !I certainly won’t be going back in a hurry.

My recent experience at the Riggsby doesn't match the periodic recent negative reviews. Two old friends and I ate in one of the comfortable booths, where it was easy to hear and get caught up with one another. The service was excellent--attentive without being fawning. We had rather straightforward food--chopped salads, mussels, burgers--so I can't speak about the depth of the menu, but we all enjoyed our dinners.

This was my second time to the Riggsby and I was pretty disappointed since I brought friends and told them how good it was the first time I went (when it first opened). The pork we ordered was overcooked and dry. My friend's lamb shank was dry as well. I recommend ordering the minute the wait staff comes to your table -- unfortunately we didn't because we were busy catching up with our friends -- and it was hard to get a hold of them afterwards. Our reservations were for 7:30pm and we finally got served dinner at 9:00pm. One of the dishes we ordered -- the beef carpaccio -- just never arrived. We didn't follow up because we didn't want to wait any longer. They didn't have a bottle of valpolicella we ordered so we asked the waiter to pick something similar. It turns out the only similarity to the the wine we ordered was that it was Italian (chianti) and the same price. Albeit, I tasted it but didn't know what was originally ordered because of the noise so didn't know how different the wine we got was until too late. Overall a big disappointment. I would not recommend.

Overall it's an overrated restaurant. I was with a group of six and my meal didn't come out with the rest of the group. It look me 20 minutes to finally flag down the waiter to ask about my meal. It was finally delivered without an apology or any sort of explanation as to the delay. I ordered the duck confit and mine came out with no hollandaise. There was roughly 2 bites worth of duck and the rest was just potatoes, onion, and peppers all for $21. Never coming back here again.

The Riggsby is a classic. It’s intimate, nostalgic, a little lost in time, cozy, kind of refined, yet definitely playful. The Riggsby is part of the neighborhood. It’s the “go to” place, where the bartender treats you like you’ve been coming in for years, even if it’s your first time stopping by.
