Message from John & Thu Ha:

"The Richmond" is a small family owned restaurant.

We offer two tasting menus: a 3-course menu for $40.00 and a 5-course menu for $75.00. Both menus come with optional wine pairings.

At "The Richmond" our goal is to put a premium on individual diners rather than volume. Each night we take a limited number of reservations. Our mission is to provide personalized food and service.

Please come and be part of our restaurant family.

Wine Program:

Our goal is to offer some of the cheapest "restaurant" wine prices in the Bay Area. We believe most local restaurants take advantage of customers with overly inflated wine prices. My wife and I are committed to selling wine at more than 30 percent below typical restaurant pricing. Our wine list has an emphasis on small local family wineries.

Exceptional meal at a reasonable price. Owner/chef greets all his guest and makes sure everyone are enjoying their meals. Very personable and does not overbook so he can guarantee qualify food as well as exceptional service. Excellent wines at the most reasonable price of any restaurant I’ve been to. Highly recommend to all foodies.

It's a gem!! Unique in every way!! Quiet romantic ambience! Excellent music selection in the background!  Fantastic tasty food, no matter what you choose! Super attentive and welcoming staff, the best customer service you'll ever get in a restaurant! The Chef/Host makes this dinner experience you won't forget. I've never seen such personal touch to every dish, wine glass and over all dining. Totally worth every penny! Make reservations ahead of time, you will need to book it 3-4 weeks if you want 6pm spot and plan on staying in for a few hours. Will definitely recommend this place!

Excellent food served by a small staff who really care about their guests. The chef/host is a treasure.
Very good value is offered in a 3 course prix fixe menu with lots of choices, for $40.

An amazing place. Just what you need after a family outing a golden gate park. Regardless if the family is kids, or grandparents or friends. Very attentive service and fantastic food.

A true neighborhood gem. We felt like family and we dined like family with the Chef/Host checking on us many times to make sure things were ok. The food -- crab cake, salmon, Pork and the desserts were delicious. The sauce that came with the salmon was like eating at a Fine dining restaurant in Paris -- the Chef took the trouble to explain to us how he made it. Amazing

Get a reservation and once you enter, a bottle of wine and order and enjoy

Personal attention, impeccable service, excellent wine pairings, and a sense of intimacy coupled with superb attention to detail created a memorable evening.

The chef deliberately accepts few reservations so he can give proper attention to both guests and food.

Excellent three course or five course meals with optional wine pairing.

Above everything else - quiet, private dining.

Unique in every way. Seating in mini-quiet zones. Almost all restaurants today, are a near bedlam of noise. Not so here. The owner (who is also the principal greeter, server, wine steward, and chef) pulls off his many hats without a miss-step. He now also has a very able front room assistant which adds to the total experience. Open Table reviews are almost all 5's, which speak for themselves. The continuing danger is that just getting a reservation will become a challenge. The dishes are well presented and do not disappoint. Only a tasting menu is available, but the range of choices should meet almost anyone's needs. The wine pairings (a near must with this tasting menu) are spot-on. Go, but please not too often, or I will end up with my nose pressed against the window, unable to get a table.

Warm, friendly neighborhood gem that is ideal for a quiet date and intimate conversation. Good food nicely prepared and served with grace. Only drawback is lack of vegetarian option.

Tasting menu provides outstanding food, wonderful choices and an extremely good value. Service is excellent, virtually everyone has a private dining experience. Short of Gary Danko, this is one of the best meals you can get in San Francisco for less than a quarter of the cost.

The chef, John was very hospitable. Food was great - very generous portions, well execute, and great value for the money. The wine pairings were really outstanding. And the atmosphere was wonderful- quiet, though the restaurant was booked which made conversation easy and comfortable.

My husband and I love this restaurant. We got the $40 prix fix x 2: crab cake, short rib with scallop, steak, salmon with shrimp fritters, 2 ice cream and chocolate suffle. Love love love. It's a 2 and 1/2 hour meal. You must relax and enjoy the services there. We always do.

The food here and the value for your money cannot be beat. The owner is very friendly and greets everyone personally. It is a very small restaurant and the several of the tables are in their own alcove so it almost doesn't feel like a restaurant. If you want privacy, that is good. It you want to be people-watching or feel like you're in a lively restaurant, not so good.
It is all about the delicious food at the Richmond.

Excellent food for a good price. Three course at $40 is a great value; all the choices were outstanding. Wine pairing very good as well. Extra touch of small potato leak soup and house made herb butter was a nice way to start. 2 hours was a long time for a 3-course dinner, enough to where we were issued an apology. However, I will gladly go back again and again.

Everything about this place is a little gem. The quiet neighborhood atmosphere and location, the delicious tasting menu (we’d recommend the seared salmon and chicken confit), complimentary starters, tasty affordable wine, perfect music playlist, and uber friendly staff and owner John. Total mom and pop-esque feel restaurant with no advertising or website, only word of mouth. Only takes (limited) reservations, but definitely worth booking in advance. Will definitely be coming back.

Fantastic experience as always. Plenty of choices on three-course tasting menu, all prepared and presented beautifully by a chef/owner who is helpful selecting dishes and wines. The three course menu is an incredible value at $40 and the wine list has great selections, running from budget to prized offerings.

We love The Richmond - it's our neighborhood fine dining destination. It's surprising how many other locals we mention it to aren't familiar with it - it is a "hidden gem." We hope our word of mouth has encouraged our friends to visit for their special occasions. The ambiance is quiet and intimate, the food always seasonal and exquisite. The chef-owner-everything is very kind and personable. We look forward to our next excuse to come & hopefully bring more folks with us!
