Message from John & Thu Ha:
"The Richmond" is a small family owned restaurant.
We offer two tasting menus: a 3-course menu for $50.00 and a 5-course menu for $79.00. Both menus come with optional wine pairings.
At "The Richmond" our goal is to put a premium on individual diners rather than volume. Each night we take a limited number of reservations. Our mission is to provide personalized food and service.
Please come and be part of our restaurant family.
This is one of the best restaurants in the Bay Area and a neighborhood treasure. John’s cooking is always as good as it gets, and his enjoyable suggestions re food and wine pairings are first rate. As many reviews have said, dining at the Richmond feels like a personal chef is planning with you and cooking a wonderful meal.
As always, amazing. John and his staff are so very thoughtful. The service is impeccable.
Phenomenal. Everything we had was amazing. Service was beyond good, friendly, attentive. It's our new favorite restaurant in SF and will be recommending it to anyone and everyone.
The Richmond is one of the best hidden-gem restaurants of San Francisco and the Bay Area. We LOVE this restaurant!
We love the Richmond and John, the chef and proprietor. It is personalized service, at your leisure, never rushed, always feel welcome. He books few tables so that he can personally have a conversation with each. A neighborhood gem.
The best dining experience in the city! They really care about the food and dining experience.
If you want a great meal, cooked by a professional, who takes the time to come and meet his guests,
and you really appreciate being able to talk to the friends you are dining with, (without having to shout), and good service and a great wine selection, then make a reservation.
All around amazing!
A fabulous experience from the moment one is greeted at the door. I have no idea of how John can pull off the roles of chef, sommelier, chatter in chief for 24 diners in an evening. The notion of limiting the use of a given table for the entire evening and staggering arrivals is unique. Outstanding food with very ample portions in the required three-course pre-fixe menu. I'm not sure if could finish a five-course meal. Wines are excellent and reasonably priced. This place is a jewel
The service was wonderful. Very attentive without hovering. The food was delicious, from the amuse bouche through dessert. A great dining experience.
We love it there!!
It was a phenomenal experience. We had the five course tasting menu with the wine pairing. The food was delicious, and the chef came frequently to tell us about the wine and the food. The ambiance is cozy. Overall a great value!
We absolutely loved this place. The service was incredible. The chef is also the waiter, he listens to any special needs or requests you have and is there to help you. He also loves to chat and get to know his guests, we had such great conversation. The food was delicious, simple, and more than worth the price. It's so much more than great food and a quiet, intimate atmosphere. This was an experience we'll remember for a long time. We will definitely be back soon for our next special occasion!
Wonderful ambiance. John was a fantastic host and chef who told us, after taking our order, okay I’ll go cook your dinner now.
Never have been told to take our time because table would not be turned over. Food was also great!
It is always a joy to dine at The Richmond. The ever gracious John, chef-owner, made the birthday dinner for my father memorable. Cheers to John and his restaurant.
Very warm hospitality.
Don’t be fooled by the mundane neighborhood location. This place is special from the personal attention by the chef owner to the outstanding food. Four of us each ordered different items on the three course prie fixe menu ( $50 each). And we shared bites. Everything really good including great deserts. No full bar and minimal beer but good wine list. I had the $40 wine pairing which included a port. Don’t be in a hurry. Owner chef John comes out frequently to check on you. Really nice experience.
My second time here, love it! It does take a little extra time between meals, so you have to plan to be there for a full hour and a half. Small minus, my steak for the second time around was not well done, I had to send it back for little more cooking but I'll get roast pork next time, that was superb. Overall, excellent place to dine & relax. Most definitely worth the wait!
I love this restaurant, the chef is always one of the best part of the experience and I try to take all my out of town guests (whenever available)………….great find!
Wonderful evening! The chef and staff are client oriented, very concerned about the client experience from food to ambiance. Loved this restaurant! Oh, and the food was fab. Definitely a foodie place from the amuse bouche through dessert.
Such a wonderful evening, everything was so special!!
Our favorite spot for whatever. The restaurant is the best and the chef and staff are always delightful. Always there to make it your special night. Choices of food and wine pairing is outstanding and right on point. Stay the gem of Outer Richmond.
If you want to find a place where you want to celebrate important moments with your family and enjoy your own space, out of this world food and great service; this is the perfect place to go.
This is a very unusual restaurant. Only 6-7 tables and each one is enclosed in curtains so the noise level is low plus a wonderful sense of privacy. The food was very good and the service was excellent. I would definitely return.
The chef/owner is incredibly talented and accommodating. Definitely worth a visit!
Such a wonderful dining experience! Intimate, delicious and all-around great service. Ordering the 3-course menu with the wine pairing is spot on and you won’t leave hungry!
The food, the service, the wine, the ambiance was Stellar. It’s right up there with Gary Danko. I loved absolutely everything, can’t wait to return.💕
Dinner was great. Nice pace through the courses. John does a wonderful wine pairing with the meal.
We went to The Richmond for a birthday celebration dinner. It was an amazing experience. Tony, Chef and owner, made our dining experience very personable and memorable. I highly recommend this restaurant.
The Richmond has soon become one of my favorite restaurants in the city. John is very knowledgeable and pair each course with THE perfect glass of wine. He offers a unique experience and I would recommend his restaurant to anyone .
The best food for the money in all of SF
Was under the impression that they served an a la cartel menu, but the prix fixe offers a wide range of options. We enjoyed our dinners thoroughly. Servings of all 3 courses were perfect for my husband but I took part of my entree home.
The Richmond is truly a gem of a restaurant. John (the owner/chef) and his niece are friendly and attentive and will make certain you have a lovely evening dining with them. The quiet ambiance is a real treat and the food is excellent.
Everything about this restaurant is wonderful!
I took my aunt there for Mother’s Day and it was perfect. The service is personal and warm, the food is exceptional, and in a city of overpriced restaurants, the cost is not stratospheric. I’m definitely going to return. 😋
Talk about a gem. Impeccable service with truly top notch food and very thoughtful wine pairings. It's been around and we have rediscovered it. We will be returning often.
We keep coming back because we love the quiet, intimate, and elegant ambience. Great food and wine pairing.
Just gorgeous ( as usual). A level of authentic caring service you don’t see very often in San Francisco.
A wonderful experience, unexpectedly personal and attentive service and excellent food. We both had the duck fettuccine as our mains which had the most flavorful sauce. One of the best aspects was our table which felt like we were VIPs but in fact every table is private. We will certainly be back.
This was the best meal experience we've ever had. We were still a bit jet legged so when having to make a decision was taken out of our hands it was bliss. A variety of taster dishes were brought to the table each one complimenting the one before, culminating in an apple dessert complete with birthday candle for my husband. It was altogether amazing. I can't recommend it highly enough - you need to try it yourself.
