About The Rib Room at the Omni Royal Orleans
For 50 years The Rib Room has enjoyed its reputation for outstanding food and service. Patrons have found the massive windows facing Royal Street the perfect backdrop for Crescent City dining. The Rib Room is home to four private dining rooms. Our largest room, Escoffier, has two balconies and can seat up to 45. The Wine Cellar and Pipkin room seat up to 10 and 12 people. Our coziest room, The Round Table, can seat up to 6.

We had excellent service and excellent food. We had filet, chicken, and BBQ shrimp. The price we paid for 6 shrimp swimming in a delicious bbq sauce should have been peeled. When I’m at a 5 star restaurant i don’t not want to have to peel messy shrimp. Other than that it was an excellent meal.
Just a waste of time. Bad service, and cold food for 200 per couple isn't worth it when there are so many other options downtown. Waited almost 15 minutes for our drinks, then ordered a different side with my cold prime rib instead of telling me I'm sorry we are out of that item you would like beforehand I wasn't given that option and bought out the original menu choice without being told . Also waited 45 minutes for a very awful gumbo between courses . Once I finally called a manger over to let her know about my prime rib being cold along with the au jus , she did offer to replace it and by that time my other guest were almost done. She did take mine off the bill along with the gumbo and give us a discount but unfortunately this was the worst Valentine's Day dinner we ever had. Finally after 15 minutes of not seeing our server she came over and asked for dessert choices which my guest had already chosen off the set menu. Sorry again for 200 per couple almost not worth it.
As an annual guest of the hotel we always try to eat at the Rib Room and were not disappointed this year. Husband had the turtle soup and foie gras as entree. Both delicious. I had a surprisingly wonderful shepherds pie. Not your usual s/p, but loaded with chunks of roast beef and veg covered in creamed parsnip potatoes. Cant wait to t ry that at home! We had a bottle of very commendable and reasonable Filus label Malbec to complement the dinner. Our waitress Norma was attentive tho the room was very busy.
Overall I was very disappointed. I made reservations a week in advance. We arrived an hour before our reservation to have cocktails in the lounge. I let the hostess know that we were there early and would have drinks until our reservation time. At our reservation time they told us we needed to stand there and wait as our waiter wasn't ready for us....never heard that one before. My mother can't stand very long, so after a while I insisted they sit us....which they reluctantly did. They must have been understaffed for the evening as it took quite a while to get the attention of our waiter and that was the case most of the evening. It was a Saturday night during a busy holiday weekend....so this should not have been a surprise. I browsed the wine list while contemplating our entrée selections. I was thinking of a French Bordeaux so I asked the waiter to speak with the sommelier about the options. I was told that there wasn't one. So, I asked the waiter if he could help me with the options. He indicated that he didn't know anything about the wines. So....for a restaurant of this caliber and reputation I was terribly disappointed. The services was well below expectations and the lack of any wine knowledge was mind blowing. The food was pretty good.....not fantastic as should be expected. My father had the fish almandine and it was very dry. My duck was good. My wife and mother had the fish special which was good.
Unfortunately I cannot recommend this as a good stop when there are numerous other great places within steps of this one and throughout the French Quarter.
I booked the reservation to take advantage of the Reveillon meals being offered at select restaurants around town. Unfortunately, The Rib Room chose not to serve their Reveillon menu on Dec. 30 and there was not any mention of this on the website with the special menus. Very disappointing. Our food was good, but not great, excepting the French onion soup, which was off the charts great. My rib eye was brought out medium instead of the requested medium rare (though it still tasted wonderful) and my $8 side of Brussels sprouts cooked with bacon was a dish of complete mush. My friend enjoyed her salad and prime rib. The most disappointing part of the meal was our server who was exceedingly condescending. He seemed relatively unconcerned that my steak was not cooked to order and completely unconcerned that my side dish was awful. Plus he kept calling my friend and me, two women in our 40s, "girls." He was awful. This wasn't nearly as great as my last experience there (2 years ago) but I'll definitely go back given the chance. Just will request a better server.
We had a 6:15 reservation and the restaurant was not busy. We ordered wine and cocktails. The cocktails were nothing special. We were a party of 6 and all 6 meals including sides were over salted. The waiter asked how everything was and we said salty. Nothing more said. No apology or I’ll let the kitchen know. We left the restaurant and bought 6 bottles of water. The service was mediocre. Waiter was nice but we had to ask for butter, sherry for the turtle soup. This is certainly not our first time at the Rib Room, we’re locals but it will be a while before we return.
My wife and I were celebrating a special occasion so I booked a room at the rib room. We got all dressed up (which i never do) and made it to our reservation on time at 8:30. We were seated by 9 o’clock which is not too bad. But then by 945 we only had water and French bread. The manager came by and said he was coming to take our order and he never came back. Our waitress came by one time told us high And she would be back, and she never came back. It Took so long, I started to look around me at other tables and NOBODY in the restaurant was eating. Only one table had food on it . We were so disappointed in this restaurant, I will never go there again. I would not recommend this place to anybody!!! So disappointing. Thanks for ruining our special night
We ate at the Rib Room for nostalgia because a there is quite a family story about a relative working there fifty years ago. We both ordered the princess prime rib. It was more than enough food with the accompanying sides. I would recommend medium rare cook on the meat. Our server was very attentive, and it was a lovely atmosphere.
I’ve been there on a few occasions.
My experience has always been great, however this time it was so so.
Got seated at 830 but did not get food till almost 10 Pm. Restaurant didn’t seem to be extra crowded. Our order wasn’t very complicated.
Food was good, we just lost our appetite while waiting such a long time.
Hugo our excellent service was outstanding. My turtle soup was delicious, the Prime Rib(Mom & I split the queen cut) was perfectly rare and perfectly seasoned, and the chocolate bread pudding with a glass of Port was a perfect finish. We loved this place-no wonder it’s been here over 50 years!
Our evening at the Rib Room was very nice! We were staying in the hotel so getting there is not a problem. We had Prime Rib (of course) and Chicken. The sides were very tasty. I would recommend anyone looking for a great Prime Rib spot to come to The Rib Room at the Omni.
Food was fairly average. Ordered Brussel sprouts which were egregiously overcooked and and unappetizing. the server was good albeit slow, and removed the food we complained about from the bill. Overall, was a good but not great experience. Certainly there are better steaks in nearby restaurants.
My college aged son and I ordered steaks and were never asked by the server how we wanted them cooked. They arrived completely rare. Had to send mine back twice and after a considerable wait to get the steak cooked to medium. The restaurant was not even busy so we were completely baffled as to why this took so long. The creamed spinach was beyond terrible . There is a reason why it is easy to get a reservation at this restaurant. Don't bother. Head to Dickie Brennans for steak in the area.
