The Rib Room is home to four private dining rooms. Our largest room, Escoffier, has two balconies and can seat up to 45. The Wine Cellar and Pipkin room seat up to 10 and 12 people. Our coziest room, The Round Table, can seat up to 6.

Food was fairly average. Ordered Brussel sprouts which were egregiously overcooked and and unappetizing. the server was good albeit slow, and removed the food we complained about from the bill. Overall, was a good but not great experience. Certainly there are better steaks in nearby restaurants.
My college aged son and I ordered steaks and were never asked by the server how we wanted them cooked. They arrived completely rare. Had to send mine back twice and after a considerable wait to get the steak cooked to medium. The restaurant was not even busy so we were completely baffled as to why this took so long. The creamed spinach was beyond terrible . There is a reason why it is easy to get a reservation at this restaurant. Don't bother. Head to Dickie Brennans for steak in the area.
We enjoyed a visit to the Rib Room, about 20 years after our first. The food was very good, and the setting was great. We were somewhat concerned that no later reservations were available on OpenTable, because there were only 2 parties in the restaurant the whole time.
Wonderful place! We were a little hesitant at first, as we were seated in kind of an odd location (next to the bar, all alone, and next to a window), but after people watching for a while, it really was fun. Our server was excellent - friendly and attentive, and the food was really good. We are all Prime Rib fans, and the meals were perfect. It is a very enjoyable experience if you are looking for a nice quiet 'upscale' dinner. Would definitely recommend.
My wife and I always enjoy the Rib Room. We live an hour and a half away with no traffic but it is always worth the trip for a special occasion or just to escape life for a bit. We have never had a bad experience. We went last Friday night for our anniversary and it was amazing as always. The staff is among the friendliest I have ever encountered and they will go out of their way to make sure that you have a pleasant experience. Every course is amazing from the French Onion soup and Scallops for the appetizer to the King Cut Chef Special Prime Rib that is truly orgasmic. Make sure when you go to get a window seat and enjoy the many walks of life that New Orleans is known for. Hats off to the staff and Chefs at the Rib Room at the Omni Royal Orleans!
Waited 50 minutes for our first drink to arrive, despite there only being 4 or 5 tables occupied. One steak had to be sent back twice before it was cooked as ordered (this is supposed to be a steak restaurant, recall). The undercooked steak was comped, but nothing further Despite the dismal service. Would you wait 50 mins in an empt bar waiting my for a drink? Tourist Trap, and a highly sub-standard one at that.
We came for the buffet breakfast on a Saturday. We were rushed by the staff, which was seeking to dismantle the buffet and reset the room for lunch. What's the point of a weekend brunch that is shut down at 10:30 a.m. Moreover, the pancakes and waffles got soggy in warming trays, and other stuff was just okay. Disappointing, as I remember the Rib Room decades ago as a destination restaurant--a place to go for a great meal in a lovely environment and this was fast-food quality.
I hosted a birthday lunch for a party of five at The Rib Room. The staff were lovely to us. We were seated right away, and our requested Mimosa's were served immediately. It took a while for the main course to arrive, but one member of the party requested a dish that takes a bit longer - so fair enough.
However, when our food arrived I found a
4 inch long blade from a French fry cutter in my sandwhich. Thank goodness I did not bite into it. I understand that "things happen", and I hope they are able to identify how this slip up occurred to prevent future mishaps.
They did offer me any item on the menu
in place of my original entree, but, I was not hungry any more. I tried to keep the incident quiet, so as to not ruin the event for the birthday girl. They did send her a very nice desert selection. The bill was also reduced by 20%.
I do think this was a "one off " for The Rib Room, so don't necessarily avoid it because of my experience. Just check your food before you eat!
Authentic New Orleans restaurant in the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel in the French Quarter, noteable for prime rib. The food was excellent, and the service was first-class. Grab a window table for a view of Royal Street. The bar scene in the hotel afterwards was lively with great music, too!
Exceptional! The bar was lively and busy. The hostess very pleasant and knew our requests ahead of arrival. John was our server. He and his team were totally attentive even turning our perfect little table for two around so we could sit together instead of across from each other. The fish almandine was perfectly prepared and the shrimp remoloude salad was a perfect choice. This was all paired with a rose' champagne. I made a reservation for Saturday night for two. . Although I didn't request a window seat until the day it was confirmed, my mistake, when we got there, we asked for one since it was 6:15. The hostess at the desk told us they were all reserved. When we asked the hostess seating us, she seated us at a window table. The food was good, cannot beat a prime rib. We had the coolinary special for $39. I love frog legs and like the creativity that went into the dish but it was overly spicy and I do love spicy. The escargot dish was very good as well as creative. The crab salad was very good except it said butter lettuce and was more iceberg. It also had a small core head which didn't need to be in the salad! The lemon doberge was very good. Our server, Mary Jane, was excellent! We have been coming here for almost 50 years and it is one of our favorites in NOLA. Apparently, they are undergoing a new management change. We wanted to come see the singer, LaTonya perform so it was an added bonus. We went upstairs where she was playing but it is the same bar as the restaurant. We ordered a glass of chardonnay and a Grand Marnier. The grand marnier came in a rock glass instead of a snifter. It was also Not grand mariner. The chardonnay was a split of Proscecco! 2 glasses of water were in water bottles. We didn't complain as we did not want to make a stink and wanted to just enjoy the evening calmly and peacefully. We did not order another drink however and stayed for one set.
Although this wasn't our usual experience, we will return. Maybe the management just needs to get in sync.
Our steak and prime rib were not prepared as ordered. The steak was sent back...after at least 20 minutes, it was returned...by that time I was nearly done with my meal...eating alone and sharing the slightly overcooked prime rib with my husband. The manager stopped by to ask how everything was, and when we told him, he replied, "We cook everything to temp." I guess he was telling us the meat was just as we ordered? He offered us dessert, which we declined, and he moved on. No apology was offered. We felt for our wait person...she did her best.
We had a wonderful dining experience. The staff was very congenial and attentive to our needs. The food was wonderful and tasted delicious. The location is beautiful and we enjoyed sitting beside the window and being able to watch onto Royal Street. While eating my prime rib meal remember a woman walking by and mouthing the word "Wow!", which best sums up the experience.

I made my reservation ahead of time so when I arrived I arrived at the exact time. They sat my wife and I close to the window.
Being New Orleans you expect noise and people peaking at the place as well as the plates in front of you ... therefore I'd expect the RibRoom to step up their game and have some amazing looking dishes or at least something that looks tasty.
My wife ordered a special of the day which was a 13 oz Prime rib but it was supposed to be medium rare they brought it over cooked.
My wife didn't want to send it back because we had a place to be right after dinner. So my steak was I deed medium rare as requested... I ordered a side of Lobster Mc&cheese ... which was extremely cold and dried ... the name say it all ..."Mc&cheese" which it only had sprinkled some cheese and I sent it back to get it te-heated ... well it came back dried and brown looking ... bland and absolutely no flavor no salt nor pepper.
I ordered a bottle of wine and the server could not even get the thing open ... she had to go away to try a more agressive procedure ... I trust no one with an open bottle ... being a steak house I expect to have my wine open in front of me let me taste it and if agreed serve it. But this wasn't the case.
I didn't even look at the dessert menu because I was already very dissapointed and ready to go.
I wish the place would take pride in their food and for $12 dollars the side of Lobster Mc&cheese be able to taste de lobster.
We only had breakfast and two of the days we had the buffet. Lamp warmed sausage and bacon selection, followed by potatoes , eggs scramble, grits and choice of continental breakfast items was not worth $26 a person. If you ordered off the menu the wait time was ~30 minutes for fried eggs and pancakes??? We did not have dinner here but when we walked by there were only a few tables with people seated. Not a busy stop and it could be due to selection, food wait times and overall cost for what you are getting.
It's just as good as it was the first time we came in 1981 on our honeymoon. Prime rib & lobster mac & cheese will make you dream about your next visit. All the while, you get a window seat to one of the busiest streets in the Quarter where you get the best experience of all there is to see without being sweaty or having tired feet. People passing by may be watching you & admiring your meal too!
If you want good service, ask for Nguyen! For over 6 years he's been our go-to guy. Love him!
Go for Sunday jazz brunch. Sugar Bear and his two men are amazing. Ask to play Audubon Zoo. They will all ask for you!
This is our favorite "bring the whole family restaurant"! Our 6 year old has grown up here.
Friendly staff and a nice environment. Meat options were quite nice. We opened the meal with a charcuterie plate, which was substandard ... just some really cold presliced cold cuts of poor quality. After this little setback our entrees were great . Unfortunately, opening with something so poorly presented one is left wandering about the rest of the dinner.
