For 59 years The Rib Room has enjoyed its reputation for outstanding food and service. Patrons have found the massive windows facing Royal Street the perfect backdrop for Crescent City dining. The woody, Old English atmosphere and high ceiling invite guests to sit back and stay awhile. The softly lit and equally comfortable Rib Room bar offers the ideal setting for sophisticated beverages and extensive wine cellar selections. In the restaurant's wine cellar, diners requiring privacy may choose from the "Pipkin", "Wine Cellar", or "Roundtable" rooms, perfect for small gatherings; each discreetly removed from the main dining floor. On the upper level of the Rib Room we feature a private room for groups up to 40 guests. Winner of the prestigious Zagat Award, The Rib Room offers classics such as slow roasted prime rib of beef, aged steaks, fresh Louisiana seafood, and champagne brunch on Sunday. We chose this restaurant as part of the New Orleans Restaurant Week, the menu choice was small but we felt it looked appealing. The restaurant was quite and our Server was welcoming and informative, we chose our food. The starters were ok but the mains 3 of us chose were to 10oz prime rib, if this was prime rib I would be amazed, there was so much fat content you were lucky if you ended up with half of the 10oz as actual meat. Desert was chocolate cake which was very nice and our Server accommodated the requests for English Breakfast tea very easily but the Prime Rib really let the meal down I`m afraid.

After days of shrimp, oysters and fish in New Orleans, it was nice to sit down in a beautiful restaurant and order the delicious prime rib! This beautiful cut of meat came with several additions but we opted for the surprisingly large baked potato that allowed you to also pile on sour cream, bacon bits and scallions. The servers were great with a sense of humor. We chose an early reservation and a seat near the windows to watch the colorful characters of the French Quarter. The 3 levels of prime rib (not including the additional chef's special) were 8 oz, about 12 oz and the King cut came with bone-in. Our meat came cooked the way we requested. This restaurant was a bit pricey compared to other places serving prime rib but we knew that going in and decided to have a great meal within walking distance of our hotel. We were not disappointed.

We love the Rib Room and went for The Coolinary event at dinner. The atmosphere is great and the staff always charming. The food however just was not up to par this time. Our prime rib was both really fatty and hard to cut. Both appetizers we had were greasy and there seemed to be no fresh produce in site. Not sure what was going on but even with the coolinary $39 dollar special that and one drink hit me with. $75 bill each and food I personally could not eat. I hope they fix this or get a better chef.

Service was AMAZING! Tried the fried oysters and we did not like them. However for dinner we had 14oz steak with loaded potatoes which had a nice creamy sauce with shrimp and sautéed spinach. We really enjoyed our food!

The entree meat was very good, chill glazed prime. The cocktails, sides and desserts were Only average. Our bottle of wine left heavy sediment in our wine glasses. The manager said it was harmless and should have been filtered or aerated before serving. Sorry we are locals however we would not return or recommend based on this experience.

Excellent service. The toughest grisly prime rib I have ever had the displeasure of. I expressed my opinion and received a $6.50 discount which is not even the fourth of the price of one of my martinis. Very disappointing.

The service was exceptional. Friendly, attentive and not hovering. The atmosphere was quaint and what you would expect from a New Orleans restaurant. The food was delicious, however both steak entrees that we had we found to be VERY salty. Overall was a great dinner and would recommend it to others, and we will visit again!

I was very disappointed. We were there for over 4 hours. We had two tables sit after us and leave before us. Drinks were great but my filet had no flavor and my husbands Redfish had no flavor at all. After a 400.00 meal for 4 people I was hoping to have a much better experience. The chop house is 100000 times better for food, service and atmosphere. I won't be back here to eat.

We both had the Coolinary menu. My prime rib was outstanding as was every course of the meal. This is a long-standing FQ restaurant. Even though it’s in a hotel, it’s not your typical hotel restaurant. Delicious food, excellent service & warm atmosphere.

This was the second time we have been there. The coolinary menu sounded good but prime rib sandwich was very dry and no real taste.

The first time my husband got the prime rib and they just slopped the horseradish on the plate.

We went for Coolinary lunch and it was such a let down. The descriptions of the menu in advance looked really delicious. The menu items that came out were a huge disappointment - missing key menu items on the plate, bland and mediocre in taste and sad presentation. Even with the lunch special it was overpriced and mediocre at best. On top of that, the service was lacking and slow - and slow to respond when we mentioned items were missing from the dish. For a New Orleans institution they should really do better all around.

We used to go to the Rib Room a lot when we lived in the Quarter. We moved Uptown and haven't been there in years. When the Rib Room was suggested by a member of our Eating Group, we jumped at the chance.

We would have been better left with the memories of the Rib Room in its heyday. There was one waiter for the entire Dining Room and he was clearly overmatched. The Kitchen was very slow. It took over 3 hours for a party of 6 to have dinner.

The food was entirely disappointing. The slices of the prime rib were as thin as a minute steak, and the meat was a bit tough.

After the meal, the vote was unanimous. Not one of the 6 New Orleanians would be back to the Rib Room for a very long time.

A very nice fine dining experience in the French Quarter.
They have prime rib which is not that common in NOLA and my wife wanted that for her birthday. I had red snapper which is in season and was very fresh. That was the second time we have eaten there and the quality was again outstanding!

Kiera was my bartender/waitress and she was excellent. My only complaint was that my rib eye steak undercooked and had little taste. I refuse to send back food as having re-cooked takes away the flavor although there was very little to this serving. However on a great note, the sides were excellent!

For a hotel restaurant this was pretty good. We were seated promptly at our reservation time and greeted by our server a few moments afterwards. The main course of prime rib was delicious, with a basic loaded potatoes for the wife and a stuff pepper for myself. The crowing jewel was their chocolate cake which was a big hit.
