On Sunday morning the 18th of Feb the room at the first floor floor was very cold, heating system probably not planned to work in advance to allow adequate temperarure
As always, we enjoyed our meal on this special Valentine's Day.
A glass of house provided champagne poured table side was a nice touch.
We were greeted as always like treasured diners and appreciated the friendly and warm welcome from Tedd.
Our dinner special of grilled snapper was delicious...as was our appetizer of plump and tasty east coast oysters and melt in your mouth biscuits.
We couldn't resist the flour less chocolate cake with crunchy chocolate chip ice cream for dessert.
It is always a pleasure to dine at The Revelry.
I hate to be too terribly critical here because this may have been an anomaly, but this was a pretty lousy experience for my girlfriend and me. Sunday was her birthday and she had been wanting to try this place, so I made us reservations for 6:30. We showed up at about 6:15 and the hostess seated us immediately. Our server was friendly and prompt, and recommended a wine to my girlfriend to pair with the lobster tail she ordered...which they turned out to be out of. Along with the crab legs. And the cheddar rolls. And the wine I ordered. By the time my girlfriend actually found something on the menu that she wanted to order--a red drum sandwich--it felt like we should've just started by asked what they still had available and started from there, instead of ordering based on what we actually wanted (and, again, it's not like this happened because we showed up 30min before closing; this was at 6:15).
Then, to top it all off, the server screwed up my girlfriend's order and brought her the wrong thing, so we had to sit there sharing the fries from my burger for several more minutes before they brought her the right order (side note: they were really good).
None of this made the experience BAD per se. The food we ended up with was still good, the atmosphere was cool, and the server was very nice. She was also clearly mortified at how badly everything was going for us. In the end, she took our appetizers off of our bill, which was all she could do at that point. And while I appreciate that gesture, I really didn't want free appetizers. I wanted a nice dinner for my girlfriend's birthday. Instead I ended up paying $100 for sandwiches and a couple of glasses of wine. So it's hard not to say that the restaurant ended up being a pretty big disappointment on this particular occasion.
Birthday brunch for our daughter who likes this restaurant. Busy Sunday crowd, short wait for our table (we had reservations). Ice water came immediately, a bit of a wait for server to take drink orders. Hand crafted is a good description of my bloody-Mary, not your basic vodka tomato juice salted rim with a celery stick but more of a small herb and spice infused taste sensation with a shot of hot sauce...very tasty. Wife and daughter ordered chicken and waffle and I had steak and eggs. The steak and eggs were perfectly cooked (med rare and sunny side up) the hash browns only OK. I got to taste the chicken and waffle and it was also good. Ambience was attractive, loud (crowd noise and music system) difficult to hold a conversation. A note to elderly diners like myself, dining room is on the second floor, restrooms on the first (no elevator). Moderately expensive, nice decor, good creative menu, I'll be back.
It is always a joy to come to the Revelry for a fun and relaxing evening. Everything was delightful, from the drinks and food to the bar and floor staff. Thank you so much, see you soon!
Great food with classy fun atmosphere. Service kind, friendly and professional. Second time here & will be back next week. Thanks
Service was very good, and server was pleasant and accomodating. I would definitely dine here again. We ordered the bib salad, home made biscuits, and fried chicken. They were all delicious. The craft cocktails were very tasty, and strong...just how they should be made :)
Service was great. Food was good, I struggle with the menu at Revelry, I do love the bar and the bartenders are great.
Food and drinks took a long time, dishes often were cooler temp wise than it seemed they should be, one of the desserts (chocolate cake) was bland and stale (though when we told them, just to help them advise other patrons, they did take it off the bill). The service was pleasant and competent, but a bit over the top in trying to be fine dining style, seemed excessive and unnecessary and felt like it was just a way to justify high food and drink prices. Might return for drinks, but unlikely for eating.
Not your typical brunch options - nice variety and delicious food. Great service!!
Great food, service, and atmosphere, prices were a little high for the portion sizes of the dinners. But overall a great experience
Food was delicious and the menu was unusual, a mix of home style recipes and unusual, new combinations. Unique service in that food was presented in unusual containers and table settings were placed with attention and care. Nice layout with glass bottom floors for a sense of action.
It’s a good menu but the service was very slow and we had to send back several of the entrees ( steak not cooked as ordered, food was cold). The server was very friendly and tried to help but the food was not prepared well. It’s a cool ambiance and I might try it for drinks, but not dinner
The ambience was wonderful, nice and quiet upstairs with perfect mood lighting. Our server was wonderful all-around, an extremely pleasant and genuine individual. The food was excellent. We went for my partner's birthday and am glad we did. We'll definitely be going back and bringing friends with us.
The bartenders really know their stuff. Well worth the visit.
We were a bit surprised by the abbreviated menu, but we enjoyed our selections. The portions were just right as well...not so much that we couldn’t have dessert. Our waitress, Kylie, was a gem....very personable, helpful, friendly, yet professional.
My wife and I make a point to visit The Revelry when in Rochester. We lived in New York City for 15 years and put The Revelry up there with the higher tier NYC restaurants. It’s fantastic.
Excellent food and service. Unique creations. Especially liked the corn gnocchi and the duck breast. Highly recommend.
The Revelry is a favorite of ours! We love their Brunch menu and always go when our family is in town.
This past week was our 55 Anniversary and we chose to dine at The Revelry for dinner...our son was in town from Toronto so it was a special treat.
Knowing it was a special occasion, Tedd, the manager, sent over a bottle of champagne. That very special gesture, made the evening one we’ll remember. Service by Nicole was top notch, food exquisite.
Very expensive for the size of the food portions. Drinks from the bar quite small also. Server was good.
