The Revelry Ratings and Reviews
I made a reservation to meet my cousin and her boyfriend from out of town for dinner at 5:30 PM. They didn’t plan their day trip and ended up arriving at 6:50 PM. I would have gladly given up our table because they were ridiculously late and did not seem to think it was a problem. The hostess at The Revelry was incredibly kind and let us keep our table. The Revelry is too generous and hospitable, thank you! Besides that mishap, everything was wonderful. The east coast oysters were really tasty! I had the butternut bisque, fried green tomatoes and the scallops and clams - all were lovely! The mango sorbet was icing on the cake. Our server was very attentive and helpful even though it was a busy Saturday night. Also, sitting at the bar and having snacks before dinner and chatting with the bartenders is so much fun! The Revelry is the best! Thank you!
The "new fall menu" was very limited. My small plate came luke warm and when I sent it back it returned luke warm. The lettuce in the beet salad was minimal and the beets and dressing were hard to find.....the bar area and drinks were great and the wait staff was excellent. Will not be back to eat....maybe drinks and an appetizer. Very disheartening.
My wife and I were celebrating our 4th Wedding Anniversary, we decided The Revelry would be worth a try. We could not have been happier with the food, service, and environment. Our server, Doug was amazing and his recommendations were on point (especially the chocolate torte). Thanks for a wonderful first experience, we will definitely be back.
We were s little disappointed by the menu choices at that price point. They said they are getting ready for a menu change, but come to find out that isn’t until January third. Service was great until it started to get busy and then it faltered a bit.
My husband and I love date night at the Relvery. The service is always great. The food is always delicious and we have never been disappointed by anything we have ever ordered. The lighting in the evening was not pleasing. They preset the house lights. It’s very dark. We could not see the menu with the one little candle on our table and the lights so dim. We were not the only table using cell flashlight to see the food we were eating. Part of the senses of enjoying the meal is sight, very difficult. We asked for the light to get turned up but instead they brought us another mini candle. Great desserts & cocktails.
Dinner for 3:
Chilled lobster tail was tough. Sauce was too sweet. Hush Puppies were good, although the dipping sauce was not.
Steak was tough
Clams and Scallops were ok . . . some of the seafood was unidentifiable.
Everything was mediocre and over-priced
We had a wonderful eve. From the time we arrived til we left. Our Bartender Pat was fun, knowledgeable, skilled and thoughtful. Our server, Nicole was a sweetie—knew the menu, made great suggestion and considerate as well. Cocktails and food service was prompt and professional. We will certainly return and have already recommended it to others.
I love the Revelry. I live near Chicago and my Daughter goes to UR...we always go to Revelry when I am in town to visit. Usually twice...Dinner AND Brunch. Best place in town for creative eating and drinking! The Deviled eggs are the stuff dreams are made of. The shrimp and grits are a must have for Brunch. And, last but far from least...The cocktails are a work of art!
Had my birthday dinner with my brother as my husband was out of town on a business trip. Revelry is reliably fabulous! The craft cocktails are the best and the southern cuisine is spot on. Cornell and I always enjoy the Revelry, as does my brother Steve.
We were even presented a complimentary dessert with a Birthday candle!! Totally unexpected and made me feel special.
Went for brunch and I thought the menu was a bit limited for brunch/breakfast items and certaily vegetarian. The ONLY vegetarian option was the benedict "without the ham." They need more
vegetarian options. Service was fantastic!! This place is best for cocktails and a nice dinner.
We had a combination of an appetizer and 4 small plates to make up our meal and had fun experiencing each different, delicious plate. Our server, Nate, was courteous and efficient. We sat outside; University Ave streetside and enjoyed the arbour and scene. We look forward to returning. Highly recommend the scorpion juice. It's perfect for two to share even though the menu suggests 3 or 4.
Very disappointed. Bar area impressive but only a couple recognized scotch brands; too many strange unknown brands! Food very expensive & not tradional Service style--my 4 seared scallops came in a large bowl served over all the other components such as peas, hominy--a big bowl of mush basically with a strange ham-flavored liquid to pour over everything, which I refused. No bread served. We were sat in front seafood area near front door & across from bar area --only 3 tables in area so no warmth or ambience of finer dining consistent with menu costs, following our afternoon at the theater.
The Revelry is one of the best restaurants in the area. We have never had a bad experience there and this time was no exception. These guys knock it out of the park every time. We came in to celebrate our last night of our mini-honeymoon and they took care of us. Free champagne when we arrived and we had multiple staff checking in on our table all night long to make sure we were happy. I just can't recommend this place enough!
Overall the place has a nice atmosphere, we were seated downstairs in the front, so I would imagine if the bar got busy it would have been quite loud, but it was quiet during our dining experience. The menu had some unique offerings which was nice, but the food we had was just ok, which left us feeling it was over priced for what you get. The fish was over-cooked & a bit tough, the pork chop was cooked as requested, but tough. Our server was great, very friendly and attentive, the restaurant did not seem busy, so we were a bit surprised at the long wait for our food, but maybe the upstairs dining area was busy. We probably would not go here again unless it's just for cocktails.
The experience was wonderful. My boyfriend and I went for dinner on a Saturday and didn't have to wait too long for our table. The place was full, but not too loud and the service was outstanding. The bartenders and servers were lovely and charming. And the food was unique yet comforting. Absolutely delicious. Yes it is a bit pricey, but worth it in the end. If anything get the small dishes and make it a tapas event! Already recommending it to my friends and family!
We've been to Revelry for brunch several times before. Usually, its dependably great, but yesterday was just, I guess, an off day.
We were seated promptly with no issues, and were able to quickly put in orders for appetizers with the hostess. Runners brought out the appetizers, but when we hadn't seen whoever would be our server for nearly 35 minutes to place our brunch order, I requested that another server be substituted since this person seemed to be stretched a little thin.
About fifteen minutes later, another server took over the table and someone appearing to be a manager (but who did not introduce himself) stopped by to offer a flimsy acknowledgment of the issue, but who seemed annoyed that we had asked that something be done about it - look, brunch at Revelry is (usually) great, but we're not there to spend three hours drinking J. Roget mimosas - we have other places to be and the pace of service just needed to be picked up to match what it normally is.
Our entrees (both of them burgers) were finally served; my medium rare burger was served well done and my dining companion, who has very long hair, found multiple short curly hairs in the sauce of her burger. We trust that was just an unfortunate coincidence. However, with discretion being the better part of valor, we cut our losses and went to TRATA instead, which graciously found us a table quite quickly.
Probably going to be a little while before we try Revelry again.
Our Saturday night dinner at your restaurant was a delight from beginning to end. Your glass floor entrance is unique, the hostess was friendly and most welcoming, our waiter (Jean) informative and non-rushing, and our meal absolutely delicious.
When Jean found out we were celebrating our 55 wedding anniversary, he brought us two complimentary glasses of sparkling chardonnay. So good, much better than champagne! Our chicken and beef dinners literally melted in our mouths, and the crème brulee was just the dessert to finish off our meal.
This am I recommended your restaurant to my PT.
We enjoyed a special occasion at Revelry and it was lovely. Great service including helpful recommendations. Delicious beet salad and scrumptious pork chop. Cornbread was so good but could be dessert! Modern atmosphere in vintage building. Also pleasant outdoor seating. Would definitely recommend.
