I came with a friend for the Chef's Tasting Menu Lunch. Service was wonderful and perfectly timed, the wine was delicious, and the ambiance was very relaxing. A wonderful value as well.

The food is amazing. The ambiance is generally very good. Servers can be a bit hit or miss. This last visit outlet server seemed distracted and asked us twice if we wanted an appetizer after we had already ordered one.
By far still the best place to eat in Livermore

This was the best New Year's dinner that my husband and I have ever enjoyed. It really helped to book a late table at 8:30pm since the restaurant was relatively quiet so we could talk. Our server was simply phenomenal - prompt and friendly with out hovering - and yet always there when you needed her. We started the prix fixe menu with the Garden Beet Salad and my husband the Caeser salad; he doesn't normally care for Caesar salads but he said this one was exceptional. We then had the Gulf Shrimp (large and whole but dissembled so you need not do the messy dissection) and the Pain Levain Toast with prosciutto and cheese and arugula and stone ground mustard - both excellent. We had the filet mignon - perfectly cooked medium - and the blackened sea bass that was just the right amount of spice and moisture. The accompanying sides were well chosen, fresh, and tasty. The dark chocolate torte and citrus cheesecake were exceptional. Also we were given complementary champagne, an excellent wine list was reduced by 50% (their usual Monday reduction which they kindly applied to New Years Eve), and a very sweet parting gift of sea salt blend developed by the Wente kitchen. Truly the best New Years Eve dinner (especially after the abysmal rest of 2018) which helped set up maybe a better 2019.

We were pleasantly surprised at how outstanding the food was. My last few experiences at Wente were just okay, but your new Chef has taken the food to the next level. Our waiter was attentive, and made excellent suggestions on food and wine. Overall, one of the best restaurant experiences I've had recently. I will be back!

My husband and I went to Wente Restaurant for a date night. The food was excellent. We had the Cauliflower Bisque and the Beet and Goat Cheese Salad, both wonderful, for starters. My husband had the sea bass with a spicy couscous, shrimp, and mussel mixture which was spicy and tasty kind of like a gumbo. I had the signature smoked pork chop on polenta with a tangy apple sauce. Both wonderful. We were too full for dessert. Service was excellent.

Every time we come here lately, I want to give our dining experience one less star. We have been coming here for about 18 years - it used to be really special, now it's just expensive. I realize that I am getting older and it seems that dressing up for dinner is a thing from the past. It almost seems that clothing is optional nowadays. However, the service and food need not decline due to a dress code or lack-there-of. I ordered the 14oz Dry-Aged Wagyu Ribeye which was priced at $65.00. Everything is a la carte here, so the salad was extra. Some things that really bothered me; my ribeye was paired with Papas Bravas, Chimichurri, Brussels and Sauce Diane that were all merged like a stew versus being "paired" with the meal. They do served bread with the meal, but not until you order your meal? Really??

Our waiter was very "OK" - he kept asking "can I do anything for the table" - how about simply is everything ok - do you need anything? Geeze, there were only two of us. In the past few years, the Restaurant at Wente's has severely declined. It was really cool in the past as almost every night had a new and exciting menu. Now its the same menu for an entire month. It was almost always local and fresh - now "the beef was fed our wine and was hand massaged in order to make it so tender". Oh, back to my steak - it was among the toughest Ribeyes I ever eaten. I should have sent it back, but then I would have had to wait while my wife ate alone.

I wonder if I want to back here - the food, atmosphere and service have declined to the level of a cheap overpriced steakhouse. I don't see them surviving for more than a few years. What will the mega winery put in its place?

The food is great! Beet salad of December wasn't the best taste combination and rossoto was too huge and more salty that I like, but rest of the food was perfect! I wish it would be at least one vegan option.

This was a buisiness meal. We arrived early but had a couple of drinks while we waited. The bar area is small, but ok if it is not full and your party does not exceed four people. Dinner was good with plenty of choices for an apetizer and main course. Everything is grown local so their menu constantly changes, so that is why I am not recommending a specific dish. The waite was very knowledgeable about both the food and wine choices.
Only down fall with the resturaunt is that it is open and a little drafty during the cooler months. Also for a classy resturaunt, the bathrooms need to be upgraded. Hope the owners do it soon.

Wente has a world class reputation for the cuisine at it's vineyard restaurant. It's wine list is impressive, albeit overpriced. I found the menu to be a bit too shi-shi. I ordered the pork chop because it was the only main course that seemed appealing. It was cooked nicely, but the presentation with the chop plopped into the middle of mushy sweet potato puree distracted rather than enhanced. The beet salad was more persimmon than beet, on a bed of roasted raw oats...what is the chef thinking???...used to be my favorite, but won't order that again. Unfortunately, our waiter was either not well trained or just didn't belong in the table waiting business. He was loud, brash, and said some really stupid things about wine selection. In fairness, I have had wonderful dining experiences at Wente in the past, but this recent visit was a disappointment. I wonder if there has been a change in the restaurant head chef or management. Considering the price of the wine and entree selection, it didn't live up to it's reputation. I am sorry to not be able to recommend the restaurant until the menu selection is less quaint and experimental, and they do something about the professionalism of the wait staff.

Our second occasion at Wente in the last 5 or so years and it was worth the trip (from Australia). Great location; unpretentious service; food was excellent and overall a wonderful evening. We were celebrating a significant birthday and wedding anniversary and the server ensured it was made apparent that it should be celebrated and celebrated well - we received complimentary bubbles and desserts with chocolate inscription! See you again.

The restaurant provides a lovely environment in which to dine. We're happy Winemaker Studio members and have taken advantage of their classes and all of their tasting rooms. This was our first experience at the restaurant. We opted to try the wine-pairing lunch experience. The food was nicely presented and most of the food pairings were done well. Between my husband and me, we tried everything on the menu, sans the cheese pairing. The food was good--not spectacular. The real disappointment for us came in the service. It was not what we've come to expect from the Wente name. Our water glasses sat empty and were not filled until we were nearly done with our 1.5 hour meal. Most of the wines arrived well after the food was served. We were often sitting there waiting because we really enjoy taking a sip of the wine before taking the first bite of food. Once would have been fine, but it was 3 out of 4 wines that were poured late. Our waiter never came by to ask how it was or offer any additional pours. There was not enough wine poured to truly enjoy each course. We noticed he went to other tables and seemed to offer additional wine pours, but we were apparently not aggressive enough in securing his attention. When the bill finally arrived, he failed to recall that we were members. (We discussed it when we sat down and told him about several of the classes we had enjoyed in the Winemaker Studio.) Many minutes had passed before he circled back around to our table, and we were able to make the correction to our bill. My husband said he felt no need to return. I probably would give it another try, but I definitely wouldn't try the pricier dinner menu unless I had a remarkably better experience at lunch.

We were celebrating two birthdays, my wife and daughter in-law. We had a round of drinks at the bar, my daughter picked up the +200 tab for 6 adults, 2 children.
While the service was good and the wine a good value, I think $65 steaks should be something special and these certainly were not. Dinner for 4 adutls/2 children with 2 $100 bottles of wine should not cost $1100. 4 filets and 2 rib-eye's all with the same gooy sauce. My steak was over cooked and rubbery with the sauce I think. The potatoes and brushed sprouts under the steak were unrecognizable.

I have been to this restaurant before and had great meals. This one certainly was not good food.

Their November Sunday lunch is a gourmet delight with food and wine pairings recommended. This is a limited menu of very high standards of presentation and quality food preparation. The general ambiance is slightly "olde worldy" set in beautifully landscaped gardens and adjoining adjoining vineyard. We shall return.

Four of us went for the wine pairing Sunday Lunch. There was a choice of two appetizers, entrees and desserts. Depending on your choice was a type of wine. The pairings of the food and wine were spot on. The wines by themselves were okay. With the food, totally different and much better. The service was super attentive yet not overbearing. There was plenty of time between courses to discuss the pairings and hold general conversation. The price, $67 plus tax/tip was fair for the amount of wine etc. Overall, a great way to spend a Sunday.
