The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards Ratings and Reviews
We've gone to Wente for many years to celebrate various occasions. Last evening we invited another couple to join us. This was the first time we were disappointed with the service and not too thrilled about the food. The menu didn't offer enough variety and what it offered was an odd mix of food combinations. However, that would have been tolerable had our waiter done his job. He disappeared for a long time during our meal. Never asked if we wanted more cocktails (nor was he around for us to ask) and then we he dropped off our dessert menus--it wasn't for another 20 minutes until he came back to ask for our order. At that point, we were upset and decided to forget about dessert and coffee :-( This was our worst Wente experience ever!
Food seems to have fallen a notch or two, and I've been going there on at least an annual basis for 20 years. Hash browns were little squares of potatotes soaking in grease. Bisciut for benedict was a nice twist, but just creates no texture for an eggs benedict. Hash and caesar salad were very good.
We went for brunch and found that the way the food was prepare was not the way it has been done in the past. The eggs were runny and the meat on the eggs benedict was not great The beef hash was just cube up corned beef with cabbage and potates and egg runny. They never ask how we wanted the eggs. Also the potatos were deep fried hash browns, tasted very greasey. The sticky buns were with pecans, they only had half dozen in each bun. They were suppose to give a coupon for $25.00 when you buy $50.00 or more and we never recived that.
All in all it was very disappointing. Would think twice before going back.
Every year is a challenge to find a great place for our staff holiday party. Dinner at Wente was a grand slam! The food was terrific, the service was exceptional, and the wines outstanding. It is a fact that my team would be very happy to visit Wente again... and soon!
Wonderful treasure. The food was delicious and the chef used the fresh produce from the on-site garden. The Pork Chops and the Chicken were amazing. The beet salad was surprising twist on a salad. All the menu choices sounded fantastic-it was hard to choose.
Another great meal at Wente Vineyards! We dine here at least twice a month and have never had a bad meal. Tonight was no exception. Both of our entrees -- the agnolotti and the rock cod -- were excellent. Service, as usual, was gracious and attentive. Dining at the restaurant is an enjoyable way to end a day of wine-tasting or golf in the Livermore Valley.
I'm more of a "causal restaurant" diner so lunch at Wente was a real treat for me. From the moment we came into the parking lot, we were treated well. Our server was excellent, attentive but not overly so. The food was excellent. I had the Agnolotti and my friend had the Roast pork and ham French Dip. To be honest, the hardest part was making a choice from the many tempting offers on the menu. The wine she recommended was perfect with the meal. It was a relaxing time in a great atmosphere. We will definitly be back.
In town for business and couldn't get this close to wine country without visiting. Wente was recently named American Winery of the Year by Wine Enthusiast, so I was excited. The tasting room did not disappoint and the attendant was friendly and found time to chat about the wine even though they were a bit busy. We were early for our reservation by about an hour, but had no problem being seated early. We brought a bottle from the tasting room and used our free corkage coupon, which was a great deal. The food was excellent. Service was a little slow, but not intolerable when you have a nice bottle of wine. Beautiful scenery, vineyards and beautiful buildings. Kind of a long cab ride (about 30 min) from Pleasanton, but well worth it!
While looking for something else, I came across the Wente Vineyards Restaurant menu online. I was drooling by the time I got to the end of the page and decided I must try this place. I gathered a group of coworkers to try it out this week and everybody raved about how good it was even in to the next day! Everything we tried was fantastic, including the wine.
The service was good too. Our numbers changed a bit at the last minute, but the restaurant was very accomodating and moved us to a table that worked better for our group. Service was a little slow, but the waiter was very knowledgeable about the dishes and how they were prepared.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Being a vineyard, it's remote so use a GPS!
I recently ate dinner at the Wente Restaurant and found it to be very pleasant. The food by far was top notch, and the taste was exceptional. Wente has found itself to have a sense of originality when it comes to thier menu for both taste and preparation. I will definitely be visiting Wente again soon and recommend to anyone.
The setting and restaurant was very nice. I have eaten there in the past and really enjoyed both the setting and the food. This time, the food was off just a bit. The NY Strip Steak had a wonderful flavor however, it was a quite chewy / tough. Definitely not worth the price charged. I still enjoyed the overall experience and give the restaurant a "Good" rating.
I have been to Wente many times, 90% of the time I order the "signature" pork chop because it uniquely different and was always accomponied by something delicious. Wente has a new chef. They still serve the pork chop, but it was prepared differntly (less applewood smoke) and went from unique to ordinary accomponied by some bitter flat leaf parsley. BTW - it is no longer referred to as the "signature" pork chop on the menu. S&T
We had a 6:30pm reservation and the restaurant ran out of bread and ended up serving biscuits instead. Overall food was OK but not outstanding. Its location is a little far from town and 580 Freeway so it would be good for special occasions and probably not for drop-in on a Thursday night thing.
This restaurant never lets me down! The pork chops are divine - nice and smoky. Wonderful service. The only reason I only gave 3 stars on the ambiance is because a pesky flight snuck into the restaurant and seemed to just hover at our table. Other than that, everything was great :)Also went to their tasting room after lunch and spent the rest of the day there! The tasting room people are a riot! :)
