I am never disappointed when coming here for brunch! My boyfriend and I had a wonderful anniversary brunch and chose the pre-fixed menu because it had more breakfast items on there than the regular menu. I highly recommend this as it comes with a mimosa, 3 courses that vary in size, and filling but not over the top heavy. We got the scones, french toast bites, corned beef hash, eggs benedict, and the steak tartar. It was so good!
Aside from the amazing food, the scenery and ambiance NEVER disappoints. I really recommend this top notch restaurant if you have never been. Its a favorite of mine for special occasions.
The food was fabulous. I had the scallops, and they were delicious and seared perfectly and served with delicious accompaniments. My husband had the salmon, and he said it was also delicious. It was my birthday, and they honored my request and gave us a very pretty table by the window. The service is a bit on the slow side, but I imagined they do that so the customers feel unhurried and can relax and enjoy their meal. We highly recommend Wente for any reason, and we go here often for special occasions.
All was good until the entrees. We're regulars, and we brought guests in. Food was good until the entrees. Salmon was under-cooked and no one wanted to eat it. Pork chop was 100% gristle and fat; you'd know before cooking it that it wasn't fit to serve. Service was good until the entrees. Wente mishandled the poor entree quality and we never saw anyone but our waiter. That being said, next time we have company, we're most likely to take them to Pleasanton or Napa. Very disappointing.
We love the restaurant at Wente. However we were disappointed when we arrived a few minutes before our reservation to have a drink in the bar and there were no seats available and were told the outside area was for dining. Also we found the brunette hostess to be very rude. She walked us to our table and didn't say a word ! We had to ask " here ? this table ? " Important for Wente to know that hostesses are a reflection of the restaurant and should be overly welcoming and friendly - otherwise they shouldn't work with the public !
A group of close friends and I decided to get together at a local winery since Napa was a little too smoky for our taste. So we headed down to Livermore planning to spend a day at multiple wineries. We ended up staying at Wente the entire day from 11am - 6:30 am. From to the Vineyard Tasting Room to the Restaurant and back to the Vineyward Tasting Room, we were met with delightful staff with each interaction. The servers for the wine tasting were very knowledgeable and friendly. The food servers at the restaurant always had a smile. We were there for almost four hours dining on wine and two rounds of delicious appetizers at the restaurant alone, and not once did we feel like we were not welcomed. Every item we selected was so delicious from the cheese board to the pasta, salads, and prawns. I ended up becoming a member because of the fantastic experience and number of tasty wines we devoured. Thanks for creating such an amazing experience for me and my friends of 20+years. Can't wait to come back again!
This is one of my go to restaurants for date night. The staff is always so attentive and friendly! It was our anniversary and our server acknowledge it as soon as he came up to the table. The food can sometimes take a little while, but the staff is so attentive and friendly, it never really feels like you are waiting that long. Our dessert plate said "Happy Anniversary" on it, as did our menu. The menu was a very nice touch, however we also got a card at the end of the meal, that I thought wasn't necessary, a little overkill. I let the manager know that night, Caitlin, when she came over to our table. Always my favorite go to place! Can't wait to be back.
My wife & I met an old friend and her boyfriend here. They were visiting from out of town, so we were looking for a place about halfway between us, and got this recommendation from a friend. We had an EXCELLENT meal, accompanied by wine bought from the tasting room. The pear salad was incredible, and the pork chop I had was absolutely top-notch. The chef also went out of his way to construct a special vegan entree for my wife, so a big "thumbs-up" for that.
The service was impeccable, well-paced and friendly.
Overall, a really outstanding meal. It's a bit pricey, but delivers great food and great service.
I’ve normally had great experiences at Wente which is why this was extra disappointing. The service was exceptionally slow despite a fairly thin crowd, food was good but overpriced and I was asked if I wanted to add truffle oil to my steak without being told there was a $20 charge. Won’t be going back any time soon and I’m a former club member, that’s how discouraging this evening was.
My husband and I chose went vineyards to celebrate our 18th anniversary and we were very disappointed. It was our first time visiting and it will probably be our last. Our first complaint at how slow our server was. It took a long time to come to our table, being our drinks, check on us after our food was delivered etc. everything was slow and the restaurant was not busy. My main concern was my food. She said the pork chop was the restaurant specialty so I thought if they have been making it for 31 years it should be good. It was not good. It came out looking raw in the middle. I mentioned it to her and she said that it was ok and that if it was cooked more it would be too dry. I disagree because I have had a pork chop come out more cooked than this and it was still tender. I kept the dish for a while and let my husband have a portion of it but I just could not eat it so I asked if she could have the chef cook it a little further (not much, just so that it didn't look as raw). It came back out burnt.... and she comes to the table 10 minutes later and asks how it is. I told her it was burnt. She asked if I wanted a fresh piece and I told her no. It was late at that point because it had taken her so long to attend to us I just wanted to go home. So she brings the bill and takes off a "portion of the pork chop". I still had to pay for some of the pork that was put on my husband's plate! For a reputable vineyard restaurant I was appalled at how cheap they were. I was unhappy with my food for our anniversary dinner and they still charged me for a portion of it. I have never been to a restaurant who handled unsatisfactory food this way.
This was one of the worst experiences we have had at a restaurant. And for the prices that they charge, there is no excuse for this and I notice other reviews said similar things. After being seated outside, which is great, we were greeted immediately by our server and our orders were taken. Then it took quite awhile just to get the one appetizer we ordered. By one hour and 20 minutes later, we still had not gotten our entrees. We kept asking and the excuse given was that the kitchen was backed up. We were there at 2:00 PM and there was not a large crowd so not sure how the kitchen was backed up, not to mention a table behind us, who were seated after us, got their entrees. Once the appetizer was served, we really never saw our server until we asked for him. One hour into this and he was very apologetic and said he would get the food. Twenty minutes later and still no food. My husband finally went inside to find the server and tell him to forget it and that we were leaving. He then presented us with the bill for the few things we ordered, which totaled $91! We asked him if there was anything that could be done since we never got our main courses and he said he would talk to the manager. Another 20 minutes later and we never saw him. My husband finally got the manager who profusely apologized, comped what we had gotten and said the kitchen was backed up. Such a lame excuse! There were not enough people in the restaurant to be backed up. Needless to say, we will never return to this place and will warn all of our friends. If you want to tour or taste at the Wente winery, then do that but find somewhere else to eat.
I have been to this restaurant many times. On this occasion there were many wasps which caused problems with our enjoying the outdoor dining. I had never experienced this before. We had to get a citronella candle from staff to abate them somewhat. When we left, we gave it to another table because they were being plagued so badly by the wasps.

We dined here earlier this week, and our experience was exceptional.
First - the cocktails. They have a unique seasonal cocktail list which is to die for. Most of the ingredients come from their garden which is located on property. Their cocktail program in my opinion, is very underrated. To have that creative of drinks, where they try to make everything in house (bitters, tonic, etc) and be located at a winery seems to me a hard thing to do, but they pull it off. And they pull it off well.
Second – The service. I feel that even if my meal was horrible (which it wasn’t) I would still leave happy because of the staff there. They all seem so happy and strangely, happy to be at work. Everyone could answer my questions from the menu, the wine, and to the history of the winery. At the end of the meal the manager (Caitlin. I grabbed her card on my way out) brought over a hand-written card thanking us for celebrating our anniversary there. She even checked in to make sure we were enjoying our meal. There were so many little details that make this restaurant unique and worth coming back to every time. From the lotion in the ladies’ room to the hand written card, I can’t say enough good things.
Third – the food was cooked perfectly, and had a beautiful presentation. I liked the seasonality of the dishes and the use of their garden ingredients. They changed their menu often and even update it on their website.
It is strange to go to a restaurant where the food isn’t the highlight of the meal. This place has great food but the ambiance and staff make it worth the trip. I cannot wait to go back.
We had a very nice meal. There was a 'band" playing music across the lawn playing covers of 80s and 90s music; I am not sure that genre of music is best suited for a Sunday brunch. We enjoyed our meal the most when the band took breaks. The food was imaginative and well-plated, quite tasty. Our server Dani was great and very accommodating. We did have a bit of an issue with yellow-jackets when our meat course arrived, so be wary! Overall it was a very tasty brunch.
We arrived early and were seated promptly at 6:40. Our entrees did not arrive until 8:02pm. The entrees arrived cold or luke warm. My father ordered the leg of lamb and sister the filet. I ordered the salmon. All three dishes were sent back for warming. By this time, I complained to the manager of the restaurant. We also complained to the waitress. Upon bring back our entrees, while they were warm a bug was found in my father's entree. The only positive besides decent service is that Wente Restaruant did comp the meal and drinks in its entirety. Oh, and one other thing, the "bread" was great.....
I was disappointed with the lack of valet parking for, what is considered, an elite restaurant for the area.
In addition, the food appears to be more "trendy" with more a la Carte format. I think the menu had better variety and flavor with the previous chef.
In past visits, I had trouble deciding between multiple entrees, now, it's more difficult finding an entree I completely like. The same with the dessert menu.
The view and location are very attractive and the service staff was excellent. Our server Dani was exceptional. Very personable and willing to discuss the menu items and make recommendations.
