Excellent food with good service. Good for a special occasion
First bad service we have had. Not sure why. Cold food and mixed up order and inaccurate bill. We will come again and hope it will be much improved. The staff did attempt to rectify the situations as they presented themselves so that was positive.
I would give Walhill a better rating, but we had the worst table in the house. We were next to the rest rooms, a door leading to the rooms available to stay overnight and the kitchen. We asked to move, but were told no other tables available. Our waitress offered to close the kitchen door. People who were staying in the rooms went in and out the whole time we were there, mainly to smoke. The service is very slow on initial drink orders(this has always been a problem there), but better on reorders. My husband had a steak, and it was fatty and had lots of gristle. He had the same experience the last time we were there with his steak. My daughter and I had the salmon, and it was delicious. They need to take out the table period! Also, hire another bartender on the weekends! Will go back, probably, but my husband will not order a steak! Love the local use of food and variety on the menu.
Also, the last time I booked through Open Table, I had to ask to move to another table. I think I will call the restaurant directly in the future!
Wonderful place to celebrate a birthday! Salads were excellent; entrees were beautifully plated and perfectly prepared. As always, service was attentive, but unobtrusive. We love the ever-changing menu focusing on locally sourced ingredients.
We were there to meet with friends that we had not seen in years. We were not rushed and were able to take our time. The Moscato was delicious. The food outstanding. Can't wait to go back.
Nice restaurant, very good food and great service. A little pricey compared to other area restaurants.
Wonderful restaurant. Outstanding food and great quality. You can really tell the difference. Highly recommend.
The only negative; We had a later reservation and felt rushed to leave when we were done.
Took a friend for his first experience. We both had the Berkshire pork chop. Excellent meal and well enjoyed. Service was exceptional. Prices reasonable.
Will plan on returning often.
Enjoyed a delightful dinner at Walhill Farm. Food, drinks and service was top notch. Only suggestion is update restaurant interior. It's very dark and "old" looking.
Being vegetarian we were very pleased chef put together a flavorful pasta primavera. In-house churned strawberry ice cream was an added treat!!
We were seated in the bar area, live music was fun but a bit loud for conversation. Waitress omitted our appetizer order but in the end it was OK as we consumed every bite of the pasta.
We will return!!
First time eating here. The service was wonderful, and the food was amazing. Very unique atmosphere, we enjoyed it. Will definitely be back!
Unique restaurant. Interesting to see. Relaxed atmosphere. Enjoyed the live music on the patio. Steak was delicious.
Great food and service. Great ambiance. Will go again. Becka was a great server
We were a little early 4:00 PM (just opening for the day) kitchen was not quite prepared for early arrivals. We were never hurried.
5:00 PM people started to arrive, restaurant was in full swing.
We did enjoy our time at Walhill and will return
We reserved a table for 10 for for after my daughters baptism. The staff was very accommodating, even with 2 children under 2. The food was amazing and the choices were anything from sandwiches to filet. Everything is fresh and local....can't beat that!
The cuisine was delicious, the wine reasonably priced and the wait staff superb.
Try the Caesar salad, the best in the Cincinnati area.
We look forward to returning.
The concept was good but we feel that it could have been taken to a higher level in most categories.
Wonderful welcome from Gretchen and the wait staff. We missed the cranberry bread on this visit, but look forward to it next time. Food portions were more than ample! Half the amount served would be enough for most diners. As always, we appreciated the local ingredients. Menu is always fresh with new features!
High tables need footrests, when we aSKED TO MOVE the first server said no all tables were reserved, not true one low table never got seated.
Great service and great food. Ordered the spinach salad followed by a NY strip with mashed potatoes and green beans almandine. The steak was good, but not great, but the sides and the salad were fantastic. My wife ordered the grilled chicken with a side of cole-slaw that she claims was the best she ever had. The chicken was grilled to perfection and full of flavor. Someone in this kitchen knows what they are doing and it's all good.
Great place to eat, a little out of the way, but worth the trip, and if you dont feel like driving home that night, they have an inn you can stay at.
My taste buds actually tingled with three items: bruscetta...amazing mixture of perfe t tastes...; shrimp scampi--not for the shrimp or pasta, but for the awesome sauce, though not excessive; and LAVENDAR creme brulee!
We met family at half way. Saw restaurant on-line. Very pleasantly surprised food was excellent. Service was excellent. We definitely would go back and recommend it to others
Very nice place, good ambiance, great service ... but the food left us a little unsatisfied. Food was somewhat overcooked but good. Noise level was quiet because we were early (4:30) - not sure if it would be as quiet later in the evening.
Loved the farm-to-table food. Had porkchop dinner & sausage meal, plus salads and cocktails. Great dinner. Plus we took home beef and summer sausage from their takeout freezer. Would recommend as a go to for dinner.
Based on the reviews I read, and a co-worker's verbal review, I was excited to try Wahill Farms. Unfortunately, it did not live up to our expectations. While the service was good, the food was not. Most of the food our party ordered was brought out burnt and solid as a rock (hamburgers specifically). The steaks were overcooked and the mashed potatoes lacked any flavor. My salmon was cooked on the top, but raw in the middle and bottom. Wahill Farms is not at the top of my list of places to eat at again, but I am open to giving them one more chance; maybe there was a new cook or something.
This was our first visit to Walhill Farm and I'd have to say it was the best restaurant we have been to in a long while. This restaurant has beaten some of the 5 star restaurants we have been to. We will definitely be back soon!
Alway enjoy. Drive 1 or 2 times a month from Cincinnati. Best Cranberry bread. Always ask for Terry as server. Food has always been excellent. We refer to it as out favorite place
I have never had anything bad at this restaurant. It is a hidden gem and I'm so happy to have found it. Steaks melt in your mouth. Side dishes are wonderful. Farm to table. Very large portions. Excellent appetizers and desserts too.
We usually have a great experience ,, this time not so much.
We had the salmon, it was cooked too raw. We ask them to split the dish so
we could share ... the kitchen refuses to do that ,, but our server was wonderful and
took care of it. By the time we got to eat it was cold.
THe night before we dined here also .. we had the filet,, it was wonderful,.
but they did not split the dish as we had asked either.
We thoroughly enjoyed out first experience at the Farm. The food was exceptional. Every dish was delicious. .. And the people were very nice.
Food and flavors amazing. Wait staff attentive yet not intrusive, friendly team
1st time visit, but will definitely be back. Excellent crab ravioli special and steaks.
We took our mom out for her birthday. We really enjoyed the food and the service was very good.
We have visited Walhill Farms so many times the staff call us by name and know our drink orders! This absolute gem hidden in the country has yet to ever disappoint us. We always know the service will be impeccable and the food will be beyond amazing. The menu changes with what is plentiful on the farm and every visit has a new surprise. You can not get food anywhere more fresh or more local than at the farm. The quality of the food is unbelievable perfection. We have had our boater dock Christmas dinner celebration here for the past few years, several of our fellow boaters have now themselves become regulars as well. Every celebration, birthday, and anniversary we know where we want to go. I have even had Walhill cater an important work luncheon I organized, everyone was impressed. Our favorite place by far.
Went to Wahill for Valentine's Day Dinner with my husband. Had asked ahead of time to sit by the fireplace if the fireplace was being used. We got a table by the fireplace but the fireplace was not lit. This would not have been a problem except that it was winter, it was cold outside and it was a special evening and the tables by the fireplace get all the cold air from outside everytime the door is opened for someone to come in or leave. Would not have been a problem if the fireplace had a fire in it. Disappointed since I even asked ahead of time about this. Other than that disappointment the food was very good.
It was Valentine's Day, but there was only one special - for 2. Since it contained something that I was allergic to, we could not order it. We felt like we were sitting on someone's old dining room furniture. And, we were seated so close to the couple next to us, that we could not have private conversation. The room we were sitting in was just not very nice. The food was good, but pretty generic. Special arrangements had been made for a surprise during our meal, but the manager forgot to tell us and we learned about it on the way home. If you are driving out from Cincinnati, it is not really worth the drive.
We live in Columbus IN, and we'll be back again. We had never been, but thoroughly
enjoyed it. The ambience, food, service was all top notch. Vern ( Veronica ) was a good
server. We had the Valentine's special, but look forward to coming over again for the
everyday menu. We'll bring friends!
We wanted to celebrate Valentine's day without traveling out of town. We had never eaten inside the restaurant. While we were not interested in the special meal for that evening, we still had DELICIOUS food! Our entrees were superb, but we are still raving about the fried ravioli! I don't think we'll ever forget it! Our cocktails were great too! Walhill is a rare gem, especially in an area where "nicer" restaurants are approximately an hour from Batesville.
Very nice restaurant. Great atmosphere. We had the Tuna Sashimi for an appetizer. Ahi tuna was very nice. The breads at Walhill are special. We enjoyed the Valentine's Day special Lobster and Beef Medallions. Beef was a bit overdone, but no big deal. Dessert for the wife was creme brulee. Mine wastheir bread pudding. Both were delicious.
