The food was overall good- burata salad amazing - service a bit arrogant/the view at sunset beautiful
Seafood tower was super fresh and the Lamb was perfectly seasoned! Great place for dinner and cocktails, staff was engaging and friendly.
The location of the restaurant is right on the highway which distracts from its atmostphere. The food was average and the service was OK. The owner/manager was rude and I got the impression that this place thinks really highly of itself but without real substance. The clientelle was made up of try hard instagrammers, so the atmostphere was not genuinely relaxed. There was a distinct unclean feeling to the premises. Would not go back.
Amazing, energetic atmosphere but lackluster food and service. The woman at the door was unnecessarily rude when we checked in for our reservation as well. The atmosphere and design is cool-- bad attitudes --not cool.
This is really a bar where people go to enjoy the deck and live music with children running around. No parking on site. Probably a great place to just get a drink and watch the sunset.
The restaurant only had 3 high chairs , we had requested 2 on the booking but only received one highchair AFTER the kid's food was served. They really should have more highchairs or compact boosters to strap on the chairs, this made our dining experience poor despite the staff trying their hardest to accommodate
Food is ok but very pricey. We were there to see the live band which was phenomenal.
I have been to the Surf Lodge on many occasions, and I was very disappointed with my recent visit. We did not receive our drinks (only 2 glasses of wine and 1 cocktail) until an hour into the meal. They ran out of lobster and did not put in our order until after we chose a replacement.
Forced to sit at very annoying communal tables when other tables are open.
hands down the worst dining experience of my entire left. the busboys and servers was so rude. literally mean. i wanted to call the cops on one of the bus boys for how inappropriate he was. most of the men who work there are so beyond pretentious. i dont know what world they are living in but i will make it a point to let everyone i know never to go there. judging by their yelp reviews i have now seen, it seems most guests would agree.
We arrived via taxi so didn't have to worry about parking which is typically a nightmare here. When we walked up to the roped off entrance for dinner reservations they just opened the rope without any direction or letting us know where to go so we wondered around the front room for a few minutes unsure of ourselves and felt very uncomfortable as the staff was very standoff-ish and we felt very "judged". Once we finally got seated the wait staff was just as rude and impatient as the hosting staff. The waiter literally rolled his eyes at us as we were ordering drinks and looked like he hated his life and his job more than anyone I've ever seen. The food menu is limited and non-descriptive but the food itself was delicious. The drinks were OK as I expected them to be less watered down for a $15 cocktail. The meal was expensive as we expected but I was surprised that they wouldn't let us sit at the bar or hang out on the deck after without ordering bottle service, especially after paying hundreds of dollars for a 4 person dinner. All in all, the view was lovely and the food was good but I would never return or recommend to a friend as the atmosphere and service left a lot to be desired. There are much better places in Montauk.
I think the bad rap this place gets is undeserved. Came here on a Friday night and had a great time. Our waiter was super friendly and had great recommendations. The prices weren't even that bad by Montauk/Hampton standards. The live music was awesome too.
I wish I had read other Open Table reviews before booking this reservation to celebrate my birthday with my mom on our quick getaway to Montauk. We were so looking forward to this dinner. Unfortunately, the maitre d' left us with an awful first impression. He didn't even welcome us, just asked my name, and proceeded to give me a dirty look the entire time he searched for our reservation. Because he was just staring at me and not speaking, I piped in with, "I did receive a confirmation call today, if that helps." No response. He eventually asked me to repeat my name, sighed, and gave our menus to a server to seat us. Our server sat us smack dab in the middle of two other tables, and we asked to be seated at a corner table if possible. She told us that was reserved for parties of 3, which I understood, so we sat down at our table. Within one minute, the same server sat down a party of two at that table. At that point, we nearly got up and left to take our business elsewhere. My mom spoke to her and the "maitre d'" about our issues and they moved us to an outdoor table. From then on, we had a good experience at Surf Lodge. We had a beautiful table outdoors and the food was good. However, I'm a stickler for service and a veteran in the hospitality industry, so based on that host's welcome, I won't recommend this spot.
Service is excellent this year. Enjoyed the live music and relaxed Thursday night vibes.
The menu associated with this place on Open Table is entirely wrong.
There is no parking, only a usable lot about 1/4 mile away. These owners should valet every single customer for the prices they are charging! The sunset over the water is beautiful; the restaurant is price gouging with an extremely limited menu and crazy expensive drinks. I cannot say enough negative things about how little these people respect their customer. The place is a dump and you should be ashamed to represent it on Open Table.
we loved eating here
we had a great waitresss who made wonderful suggestions for our food choices.
the ambiance is amazing and you cant go to a better spot for a sunset view in Montauk!
Kitchen is heads and shoulders above where it was just a couple or years ago. Surprisingly good vegan options on the menu, too.
Nice setting, good food, plenty of attitude.
Great for lunch .. Lobster roll was excellent . Outdoor seating by the water. Very casual.
Great dinner, excellent food, outstanding view but pricey!!!
Service is friendly too.
The place is super simple and basic which is part of the charm.
Don't expect any Michelin stars on your plate but the overall atmosphere is where the stars are..
A lovely open air setting with great food and service.
Definitely worth the trip. We enjoyed the watermelon, feta cheese drizzled with vegetarian caviar appetizer and striped bass adorned with Bok Choy and an Asian infused sauce. The dessert was an incredibly light brownie accompanied by Ginger ice cream. All in all, quite an amazing experience.
The ambiance was great being that it has a pretty view of the water. The service was fine but just lacked knowledgable staff. Our waitress didn't know what half the food we ordered was. For example: My sister and I ordered a butter lettuce salad, my sister can't have any other lettuce other than butter lettuce (dietary restrictions), so we were happy to see that lettuce on the menu and one of the main reasons I chose this restaurant was because they could accommodate her allergies. Anyway, the salad came out and it was mixed greens. I told our waitress and she said the chef insists it's butter lettuce...we knew it clearly was not, but they didn't have anything else so she just ate the chicken and tomatoes on top of it and pushed the greens to the side...$25 for tomatoes and chicken. Next my friend orders the lobster, ends up being extremely chewy. The waitress took that off the bill so that was nice. Overall, I hear you should only come for the club because the food is awful....so we might give the bar scene a go one day but we'll definitely eat elsewhere before hand.
Love the surf lodge!
Depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for see & be seen, surf lodge is the perfect spot in Montouk. If you want to enjoy good food and service, definitely recommend to go somewhere else.
The service there is absolutely the worst and the food is mediocre - Montauk has so many different food options - avoid this one
Great drinks, local produce, and seafood. The view was also wonderful .
The staff is RUDE. We had to wait 45' to get our table and once we sat down the y told us that the kitchen was about to close.
This is a bottle service club with a velvet rope and a "guest list" masquerading as a restaurant. The drinks are watered down and priced astronomically, the food is inedible and wildly expensive. Our group was charged over $250USD per person with items appearing on our check we had never ordered! The setting seems quaint but IT IS NOT ON THE BEACH and the recent renovation is cheap, right out of Crate and Barrel. If you trip out here expecting to see free live music shows you will hike a great distance (theres no parking) and then spend a miserable night in the parking lot.Now that capacity has been further, significantly reduced, your odds of getting in, even if you are a scantily clad bimbo, are next to nil.
The Surf Lodge under Jayma Cardoso's management is the most uncool dining spot in the Hamptons. It is a pretentious bottle service patio which caters to the khaki clad share house crowd. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
The watermelon salad was good. The lobster roll was not.
