The Restaurant at The Standard, Downtown LA Ratings and Reviews
Won’t be back. Average in every way. Service was spotty at best. Food was no better than average. Particularly disliked the vinegary Brussels sprouts. Starters , bread, and mains all came at one. Can’t imagine why anyone would choose this place when there are so many better restaurants in the area.
Our reservation was set for 7 at night on a Tuesday. The place was not that busy. Decor and atmosphere was ok, mainly being on the "hip" side. We placed our orders. After about 45 minutes we asked about our meal. Waitress said she would check. After another 15 minutes she finally came back and said their printer was not working so our order never was submitted. It would be awhile longer, so she offered to comp our two glasses of wine. Waited another 20 minutes. Finally asked for manager. Waitress said she would get her. Only one waitress was working the whole restaurant. Finally manager came and apologized but repeated the printer problem. After an hour and a half our meals finally arrived. Needless to say they were unspectacular. Got our check and received several discounts. I would not recommend this restaurant, at least not during a weekday.
I had to choose a restaurant that could accommodate 8 fussy people for dinner on a Saturday night. I was instructed: no Japanese as some had it the night before and a flexible time to arrive. The management is terrific. I changed my reservation time several times with each person empathetic and without judgement. Everything was excellent and fresh. The sea bass and salmon delicious, the salads were amazing and the burgers very good. No complaints from my party to me! Only thank yous . They also enjoyed the bar on the roof with a 360 view of la for the out of Towners, the ping pong tables on the second floor bar, and the disc jockeys in the lobby, 2nd floor and on the roof. Also a movie was playing on the wall across from the pool also on the roof. This older crowd felt hip!
Went for Sunday brunch and it was great!
Not too expensive
-mimosas for 2 (one bottle of Chandon) they give you fresh orange juice ($24)
Total came out to under $60 !
Totally worth it for a cute Sunday brunch.
The outdoor area is cute
I made a reservation, on the day of the women's march, for breakfast. the hostess asked me at the door if i had a reservation because she was turning people away. they were kind enough to let me sit at my booth until the rest of the party showed up and they were 45 minutes late!. but considering it was a special event i think they knew they were not going to seat anyone else at the table because the march would begin.
On the other hand, they only had one server for the entire restaurant and the service was very slow. I would think they would have planned ahead for this event and such a packed house.
I have been here before and service has been excellent....so perhaps someone called in sick or something.
I love everything about this place.
Cool hotel in design but the restaurant lacked atmosphere and finesse. Only one of the two dishes ordered was worth the money. Suspect the disappointment was somewhat down to the time of year we visited (around new year) and suggest it's location lends itself better to post work drinks and dinner with colleagues.
Very hip & comfortable dining and good service. The branzino was amazing and tuna tartar was adequate. The table ordered a variety of dishes and were split on the salmon—some thought it was amazing and others not so much. The burgers were deliciously prepared and sweet fries were everyone’s favorite. Great cocktails!
We had a pretty decent meal before attending a hockey game. The food came quickly and when we told Tiffany, our server, that the fries were stone cold, she quickly brought us a fresh, piping hot batch. The burgers were good.
Our only complaint was that there was no sign for the restaurant on the outside of the building. We found it by accident.
We needed a quiet spot for an early dinner prior to an evening program at Central Library. The Standard Burger was perfect, Wild Mushroom and Camembert Tartine, rich, and the Sweet Potato Fries, crispy and delicious. Although we were early, we had good service and enjoyed being out on the patio.
