Great Fun. The entertainment makes for a great brunch!!!
We had a reservation for 10 people at 10 PM. I arrived at 9:59 PM and went to the front, where he told me he had just given our table away. He said he would figure something out and to wait 10-15 minutes. We ended up waiting over 30 minutes before we decided to leave.
Went to this restaurant with a group of friends for valentines day, it was not crowded or overbooked. Upon checking in for our reservation, we checked with the people in the front and they assured us we could go straight from our reservation to the upstairs rooftop. Once seated, service was TERRIBLE. Literally had to flag down anyone possible to get drink orders in, struggled to even get him to bring us water, and the waiter rushed our check out while the plates weren't even cleared yet. It was the worst service I've ever received, to be quite honest. Then, to our surprise, when we inquired again about the best way to get to the rooftop we were told we had to wait outside in the large line and then pay the hefty cover charge. We asked why and for clarification and the waiter VERY rudely dismissed us and said "that's how it works, go outside to wait". So we kindly asked to speak to the manager, Aaron...who then shoo-ed us out and told us he couldn't do anything to help us and to go outside and pay. We asked if there was any way he could at least help us not wait in the line and just pay? Nope, he shut us down and told us it wasn't his job or problem to. So we wait, and wait..and then see this exact same Aaron guy escorting groups of girls he thought were pretty and surpassing every line and fee to walk these girls up as he saw fit. Saw this happen about five times. So not only is this restaurant rude with bad service...but also apparently treats its customers terrible if Aaron doesn't think you're pretty enough for him.
I had a less than satisfactory experience here on Valentine’s Day. It was a complete mess from start to finish. I had made dinner reservations weeks prior only to get there and wait another 15 minutes to be seated. Once we got seated, it took about another 15 minutes to finally get a server to our table (only because the host, which was extremely nice by the way, came to check on us to see if we had gotten waited on yet). We then placed our food and drink order with our waiter immediately then, because it seemed like it could take a while to place our order if we asked for him to come back, just based on the way things were going at that point. The food came out at a reasonable time, but they forgot to bring our drinks out. Our waiter was no where to be found the entire time, but it seemed like everyone else had waiters come to their tables. Nobody to come check on us, ask for refills, nothing. We never got the chance to ask for our drinks until we finally had to flag our waiter down as he was passing by. I will say the one highlight of the experience was that my impossible burger was really great, but my girlfriend was underwhelmed by her Pappardelle. The drinks still never came out when asked, so we decided to leave and asked for our check. When I received it, they charged us wrong and added a few items that we never ordered. They just seemed really flustered, confused, and a hot mess. It really wasn’t that busy and it seemed they had a staff size that was more than capable to handle the current capacity (around 50 guests). I was really disappointed at that point for such horrible service. They finally figured out the bill issue, apologized, and gave us a discount which was nice, but the experience still put a damper on Valentines date night with my boo. Will definitely not be coming back.
Been many times before and loved the food and the vibe. Booked via opentable but there was an unadvertised drag karaoke brunch today which totally ruined the vibe. Food was just mediocre today too. Should make sure the opentable listing reflects the calendar of events.
Ambiance and surroundings very nice, coffee was very good.
We came down for brunch before the women’s march and we’re so happy with the level of service we received. I wish o could remember our servers name but I had champagne 😜 He was super helpful with vegan options and just was extremely pleasant. I will definitely Italy be back. Food was great as well.
Great for business meetings. Food came out quick.
We took the family as a downtown LA experience. The salmon and steak were ok, ravioli was aweful. Service was poor.
Anniversary not mentioned :(
terrible service, pay 30+ bucks for a plastic "wagyu" steak and my mom had a burrata which consisted of a tiny portion of actual burrata.
New Years Eve Ghosts: Staff ghosted after aps and mains. Desserts, which were simultaneously and bizarrely melted and cold, clearly had been sitting around, took nearly half an hour to arrive and only after someone in our party of five had asked the maître d' when and where? The new waitperson, who wasn't our previous three(!) servers said they were "suddenly slammed" which was preposterous since the entire outdoor space of twenty or so tables was unoccupied barring our table and one other, and the inside tables were barely half-occupied; this was 5pm on New Years Eve. Whenever any staff member of any restaurant gives the excuse of "we're suddenly slammed" (or similar ilk) it usually means, new business is more important and your table is no longer a priority. So sure you'll get a table, but don't expect a good experience; I wanted to ignore the many reviews that spoke of poor service, lackluster food and dusty decor/setting, but lo and behold, a broken foosball table, torn/stained camouflage netting and putrid second hand smoke from the adjacent outdoor lounge doesn't spell cool, it spells a bad military-themed college frat party at a WeWork impersonating hipsters crica 2000-late. We asked if we could speak to the manager, to which the new waitperson sharply said, "you're speaking to her!.." in a tone and language that suggested it was our fault her staff and the restaurant were inept. As customers anywhere I don't feel we're entitled to always being right, but when it is clearly the mistake of i.e. the restaurant, at least take responsibility and deescalate the issue. We have visited and/or stayed at Standard locations in Miami, Highline/NYC, East Village/NYC, London and Hollywood, and the Downtown LA version has got to be the absolute worst restaurant-wise of the bunch. Fire the restaurant manager, the staff, start fresh and import them from any of their other locations; the brand deserves better...and my god get rid of the foosball table.
Server wasn't very attentive and forgot many things we requested. Food wasn't the best either.
The ambiance at The Standard is great especially for out of town visitors but the food at their restaurant was mediocre.
It was my first time going to The Restaurant, the drinks were great, the flat iron steak was delicious and the coconut cake dessert was amazing!
I was there Friday after work. Nobody else was in the restaurant, it was pretty empty. I wanted the cocktail “coffee & cigs” or something like that, after a while they told me they’re out of Bailey, so I need to order something else. I’m not very happy about this, can’t imagine a bar would be out of bailey.
The foods were okay. Not bad but nothing special. I wouldn’t recommend the foods. But since it was pretty empty, the ambience was nice and quiet.
Good food, relaxing atmosphere. I love the yellow decor. Makes you feel refreshed and overall the staff was great.
another nice business breakfast meeting at The Standard, on a Monday morning.
Admittedly it was 4:30 in the morning, but we had a good time at breakfast!! A very unique, hip and delicious spot open 24/7 The hotel will even park your car for while you dine, a win-win for downtown. Everybody in our party of eight enjoyed different foods and all but one plate went away empty. In addition, the young lady who served us was very perky, helpful and courteous given the time of day. Many THANKS!! for the exceptional experience!
Nice outdoor area. Cool spot in downtown.
Party of 10 for a birthday. There were only 2 other tables of 2 in the restaurant (Restaurant was basically empty). We were on the patio. Horrible service: Forgot drinks & appetizers. Brought out entrees and gave us a difficult time about canceling appetizers which had not arrived yet. Manager said she would get us up to the rooftop and comp us drinks to make up for it. We waited for about 20 minutes and no one came to talk to us, give us a bill, offer us drinks, water or even acknowledge us. Finally, we all got up and we went to talk to the manager once again. Her staff couldn’t find her. When she finally came back she got nasty and said she “told us” she was going to the rooftop to speak with the manager about letting us up. She never told us. There were 3 of us speaking with her originally and none of us ever heard her say that. She insisted and became very rude and said they could not let us up unless we waited in line and they could do nothing except comp the bday boy’s meal. This is not what she originally told us and considering the bday that I planned for a month was ruined because of them, this was not acceptable. Then, they brought out security, then another manager, all agreed and apologized but they were clearly gaslighting us and were not going to do anything. There is sooo much more to the story of this destroyed evening but reliving it is painful and only upsets me more. Do yourself a favor and NEVER patronize this horribly run establishment. Especially, with a group.
Average food, average service, average space.
Parking is a nightmare and valet employees in the garage are rude.
Posto carino. Cameriere un po’ frettoloso, forse era alle prime armi. Cibo ottimo e soprattutto ottima qualità-prezzo.
We went for breakfast at The Restaurant at The Standard. Their menu consisted of yummy breakfast options including vegan alternatives, which made me very happy. Their food was tasty and I would recommend it as a spot for breakfast!
The restaurant is very nice, and the food is very good, but on this particular day, we couldnt sit on the patio because they said that since the umbrellas were up they couldn't turn the gas lamps on because the umbrellas can burn, but other than that the service was great and they food was spectacular.
I have become such a synic when it comes to DTLA hotels and restaurants. I always assume pretentious attitudes. Not here, great service , great food my new breakfast spot . We live two blocks away so it’s perfect. Great for brunch also
It was really quiet and peaceful; perfect for an early breakfast place. It was a calm, relaxing meal.
