The Restaurant at Redstone Ratings and Reviews
We love this restaurant in the summer but it just isn’t the same in the winter. The lunch menu was very limited. The soup and salad were very good but the pizza wasn’t the same quality as those that are served in the summer. Plates were a tad small for our pizza and my tea was not what I ordered - but other than that it was quite nice. Didn’t blow me away, however. Would like to see more small plates/tapas type foods offered at lunch. Our server was very friendly as were the other staff.
Honestly I love this place which is why we booked it for our anniversary dinner. I was soooo dissaponted. We had expected a full dinner menu and were greeted with a causal “sharing” menu (although how you share chilie???) needless to say we were kind of stuck. My husband ended up finding somewhere else that could offer us more then 3 items. I guess I was upset that it didn’t make any mention of this on their wed site, then I would have known to book somewhere else in the first place. I’ll still be back bc their food is awesome but maybe a little more transparency.
We were very happy with our first visit to Redstone. It was especially nice to not have to pay for the wine tasting given that we ordered several bottles of wine. Lunch was great. Only disappointing item was the Rueben sandwich which was too oily, ie it seemed to have been grilled with oil or butter on the outside. Everything else was fantastic! Prices for lunch seemed a bit high, ie $200 for lunch for four. This included three glasses of wine. P.S. I have some fantastic pics of several of the dishes but they all seem to be too big to upload. I can email them if you'd like them.
Love the winery. Great setting for a meal.
Ordered the butternut squash soup. The chili flavour balanced out the cream texture perfectly.
Also ordered the pork chop and the meat pizza
The pork tasted great but 70% of it was fat. So would have preferred a better cut.
The pizza was slightly undercooked but great flavours
Tasting menu was interesting and wines were good. The sable fish was a bit humdrum, even if fish can be overpowered easily.
Main concern is a common one. After we paid the bill, staff disappeared. No one came to the front door when we left, no one said thank you, or come again, etc. We find that rude and dismissive.
Lack of warmth overall at that level, although the initial greeter was friendly.
From the greeter to the bartender and waitress to the manager, everyone was so nice. We had reservations at the restaurant and arrived early to do some tasting, but the room was already closed so we sat at the bar. We ended up having a few drinks and dinner there instead. We left after having a good, light dinner and nice conversation, as well as having a few recommended wineries to us, in the area to try.
It's such a beautiful restaurant and the setting is surrounded with a lovely view. A great place to enjoy a lunch or dinner. Perfect ambience and very relaxing. The staff is very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable in wines and local attractions. We were visiting with friends from Australia and they loved the setting. The food is good but nothing special, the location makes up for it.
Our server Michelle was delightful. She was friendly, polite and provided us with exceptional service. The greeter was also a lovely person.
The venue was spacious, clean and beautiful. The food portions, excellent, served timely and delicious.
However, there was one server, that when we requested an umbrella to provide extra shade, he told us he would get one, when he had the chance. There was a good crowd that afternoon, but not every table was filled. It was a gloriously unusually warm and sunny afternoon, in October! He was in the midst of moving another umbrella for I assumed another table (which was already in shade) and the guests were waiting to be seated, a party of 2 and a party of 4... he never fulfilled the request. We asked for a take out box from the rest of our meal, it never made it back to our table. He may not have been our server, but he is representing the place and should therefore be able to accommodate a request or find another co-worker to help. It never happened and we had to switch seats so that one of us wasn't always in full sun, while enjoying our meals and drink. Kudos to Michelle but that one server kind of ruined the rest of our first time visit there.
The table which the staff was going to give us was in a poor location. We declined it and had to wait 25 minutes for a better location.
When proper reservations are made we expect a decent place to sit. The hostess was really not that efficient, not impressed with her at all.
The lady bartender in the tasting bar was delightful.
This was certainly not our first Redstone experience but definitely not one of the best as far as service in the restaurant.
Great food, good service, ...but the acoustics leave something to be desired. Some upholstered sound panels would really help the noise factor. And if you are seated facing the bar, you also look right into the kitchen every time the door opens....which is every few seconds!
The restaurant is great, nice layout and ambience, the food was great, the service could be a little faster as we waited a little while after ordering and we were on a time line with a driver taking us to different wineries. Other than that, I would definitely return.
Spectacular patio with great views. Our oysters were delicious and fresh and so was the ceviche. The mussels however were oversalted and undersized, particularly for this price point. The tomato salad was excellent but the 2 tiny white anchovies were hard to find. Again, at this price point the serving size is stingy. Great hot and tasty fries were served with the mussels.
Perfect day to enjoy the splendors of the winery while dining outside on the beautiful patio! Enjoyable wine offerings and well explained accompanies a small but complete lunch menu that goes from mussels to pizza. We chose the well presented burger and the pineapple pizza and were impressed by the flavor and freshness of the offerings. No one was rushing us as this is a place where you sit, converse and take in the surroundings and not eat and run!
Redstone continues to impress us. We absolutely love the wine and tapas and the pizza is fabulous. It's a beautifully designed building that has a breathtaking outdoor patio. I've hosted small and large groups here as well and they have been catered to with such attention. The Chef is creative with his Tuesday evening and event menu options and it's certainly a restaurant not to be missed.
We went to Redstone Winery for our anniversary dinner and we had a very nice dinner. I had made a reservation through Open Table, and staff were aware of it, which was nice. They surprised us each a glass of celebratory champagne to start off the meat. Very nice. They were also cognitive of my hubby's shellfish allergy. I had a kale salad with grilled peaches. It was okay, not super flavourful. My main, the elk, was spectacular, must say. Savoured every single bite. We had a bottle of Redstone Cab Merlot, which was excellent! For dessert, we had the strawberries with dill and strawberry sorbet. Also superb!! It was a bit of a cool evening, so we decided to eat indoors, but there were a number of guests out on the patio. We were seated in the middle of the dining room, which was okay. Not very cozy or intimate, but okay. The sun was setting and we did have to move chairs around so that the sun wasn't glaring in my hubby's eyes. Servers were attentive and friendly. Overall, an excellent evening. Price did come in a bit high, but we did know this in advance. Although the pizza was not on the dinner menu (that we saw anyway), a number of dinner guests around us were ordering that, which was surprising. We had dressed up nicely for the special occasion, seeing the menu prices in advance, and were slightly surprised to see very casually dressed guests, but not a big deal. Overall, an excellent and memorable evening! Thanks
Some what of a let down.
Have had a lunch at Redstone previously and it was outstanding, supper at Redstone was a bit of a let down. Service a bit slow, post dinner bill slow in arriving.
Menu limiting and choices very sparse.
Initial seating confusing. Only one table occupied when we arrived and we were seated directly beside the occupied table with more than 75% of the seating area empty.
Great way to finish off a buying spree at the winery. The restaurant interior is sleek modern but the patio is the main draw. Lots of heaters so you can extend the season. Interesting menu, beautifully prepared, nice portions and good service. Gorgeous view!
