All of us have been to a lot of restaurants, in fact, I opened, managed and was District Manager for a chain of restaurants. I'm inclined to be easy going and realize that every restaurant has off nights. However, it was obvious that you've hired nice people and not bothered to train them. The person opening our wine dripped on the plates and then leaned over my husband to wipe it off with his cloth. He didn't come back to refill glasses and when he opened the second bottle he spilled about half a cup of wine on the table nearly hitting our friend.
The hostess seemed to be the most experienced member of your team and was great! Our waitress told us she was new and was going back to school, but she tries hard. So hard in fact she interrupted our conversation about 4 times to ask about the wine while we were waiting for our appetizers. She explained the pricing on 2 different occasions and when it wasn't making sense to us, we asked her to check. She was wrong about the extra $15.
The best part, thank you for the laugh, was an $18 appetizer. It would be impossible to get a smaller appetizer. We were trying to listen to the description of the plate. Afterward we all laughed at the audacity of sending out such a tiny appetizer.
Our duck with wheatberries was tasty, if undercooked. Again, some great cooks at our table and it was tasty if very rare. We love your wine and feel you need to train your servers. It would have been easy to upset my husband and our friends on wine or scotch, but we were offered more water repeatedly.
Why am I telling you all of this? We had a great time because we all have fun together. I wish you continued success and think that will only happen when your staff are more professional and your portions are worth what you're charging.

Didn’t know what to expect while dining here. I was surprised at the presentation and taste with all my dishes. They were very accommodating to my dietary needs and while service took a little long than expected it was well worth the wait!

ART ON A PLATE!

Originally, the Redstone restaurant offered an upscale steak and pizza menu, and that was nice...but the new chef, David Rider, has transformed this place into a destination for those with an appreciation for a sophisticated food experience. Haute cuisine is not an exaggeration here!

We chose the 5-course with wine pairing option, and were treated to a meal that was one of the best, most memorable we've ever had.

After an amuse bouche of a kimchi potato chip and fresh baked bread, we were presented with a succession of plated artwork:
Cured albacore tuna with fermented Celeriac, hot house rhubarb with a foie gras that was cloud-like in its weight and texture. I enjoyed the halibut with beetroot and caraway, rye and dill, while my wife was treated to roasted sablefish, with sweet potato, celery, and citrus caramel. Our meat course consisted of smoked pork butt, roasted carrots with maple, ginger and sumac. Awesome! Dessert consisted of one if the best chocolate souffle we've ever tasted, with a warm peanut Anglaise on the side! All of this served by thoughtful, knowledgeable young staff who obviously love food and sharing the joy of it.

James Beard and Michelin should investigate this treasure in the Niagara wine country. Congratulations to Moray Tawse for creating a wonderful oasis of food and wine craft!

Cannot wait to return!

We were a group of 6 who all ordered the tasting menu. The food was excellent but the timing of service was off. Depending on what dish you ordered (we all did 4 and 5 courses), some people were served together and others solo; one wine pairing arrived twenty minutes before the dish. The time start to finish was nearly 4 hours; good thing we had a lot of catching up to do!

This was our second time at the Restaurant at Redstone, having totally enjoyed our first experience last summer. The menu is changed to a tasting menu which surprised us and actually posed a bit of a problem for the couple we had with us. The staff and chefs worked real hard to make it workable and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Found my new "favourite"wine from their terrific wine list and brought an extra bottle home with me.

The overall experience was good. The server however neglected to mention the more than double mark up on the wine we ordered. I was there with 4 other girlfriends and 4 of us were ordering a glass of the Cab Franc wine $11/glass,so we decided to order a bottle bc it is usually a better deal. The waitress was at our table during the discussion and neglected to mention the bottle price of $85! Had we of know this we would have just ordered glasses and not the bottle. The waitress was very honest when explaining the tasting menu pricing but I do not know why she didn't mention the wine cost especially when she was at our table when we were talking about it. Also I ordered the ham and pineapple pizza and there was another "mystery" meat on the pizza that for sure wasn't ham and certainly didn't compliment the pizza.

Another exquisite meal! Absolutely loved the beet salad, best one I have ever had. Service is always fantastic. Friendly and knowledgeable staff make it a pleasure to dine at Redstone.
Looking forward to visiting again soon.

I love everything about this winery restaurant. The decor is fantastic. The service was outstanding: we had tasted a lovely chardonnay before lunch and asked if we could also have at lunch, not available in the restaurant, but they matched a wonderful close second. The food was incredible, wish we would have ordered 2 of the pork belly dish to take one home for us to devour later.

We went last year and the food was amazing. Was not impressed this time with the food . Portions are small for what you pay. We went at lunch time for my sister in laws bday and I requested a table by windows and we were not seated there. They did bring a little desert with candle which was a nice touch. We did wine tasting at that was highlight . With our lunch and wines we purchased we spent over $350 for the two of us and don't feel the meal was worth $150 for 2 of us with tip . Not sure if I would go back or recommend to friends.

A tasting menu where one could pick courses. People at the same table could pick just one or two menu items, or a choice of 4-6 items.
This has implications. Some people at the table may sit and eat nothing, while others eat. The complexity of the order also leaves servers uncertain re recipient of the food, and I’m sure slows the cooking and preparation process.
The food was excellent.
But it was slow.
Pace is an integral part of a dining experience.
A suggestion would be to have a blind tasting menu, where everyone would be plated at once, such as they present in Europe.

Knowledgable and friendly staff that are on top of your tasting and dining experience. An always amazing menu paired with some of the best local wines in the area. A beautiful view both inside and outside the restaurant and a calming but romantic ambiance. Our new go to restaurant.

We love Redstones Friends and Neighbours nights. The menu includes a variety of tapas that change regularly and delicious pizza. There are always some great wine, beer and cider options on the menu for a great price too. We also recently attended our first Friday Evening Dinner Series meal. The experience was outstanding and we'd highly recommend for others to attend. The food was delicious and plentiful and the experience of sitting at a communal table was fun. We ordered the wine pairing with the meal and we were pleased at how well the wine complimented the dishes. The chef was able to accomodate me being vegan and I couldn't have been happier with the range of dishes offered. A very enjoyable evening. Thanks Redstone!

the service was comfortably outstanding...the servers were very attentive but in no way obtrusive. They were extremely well trained and quietly pleasant . The food was very good and incredible value - a January tapas limited menu that was very very reasonably prices and very tasty.

We love this restaurant in the summer but it just isn’t the same in the winter. The lunch menu was very limited. The soup and salad were very good but the pizza wasn’t the same quality as those that are served in the summer. Plates were a tad small for our pizza and my tea was not what I ordered - but other than that it was quite nice. Didn’t blow me away, however. Would like to see more small plates/tapas type foods offered at lunch. Our server was very friendly as were the other staff.
