Not one, but two hairs found in two separate batches of butter. Food was disappointing to say the least. I ordered the hash and received basically a bowl of potatoes. The hotel setting is absolutely gorgeous. What a shame they can’t get the restaurant to parallel the location.
The chef prepared a perfectly cooked piece of salmon. The skin was seared and the flesh was sweet and moist. It was served with black lentils. My wife had diver scallops, which were also excellent. All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience. We had a window table, which gave us an unobstructed view of the beautiful Hood Canal. Highly recommended.
We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner and every meal was excellent.
We go to Alderbrook for most Easter and Mother's Day brunch buffets because of their good food, selection of items, drinks, and service. Alderbrook has outside service when the weather is nice. That menu is good and different from the main restaurant - and often has outside live music .
The Restaurant at Alderbrook consistently has some of the best food in the wide Seattle area. It compares well to New York.
We hadn't been in awhile and came for my Birthday dinner. We had the most wonderful Server, Michelle. She was really fantastic. All in all an amazing view, great food, and stellar service. Very nice evening!
Spectacular view, friendly service, and an abundance of food.
Top notch great appetizers (cheese plate/calamari). Main courses very good, short of great but worth a drive. Drinks/Wine menu good
I took my wife here for our anniversary, we had never been it was recommended to me by some friends. We went to the spa for a few hours, and then went to dinner. We will definitely be going back.
All i can say is excellent all the way around.
The view alone is worth the trip! The crab version of the Cobb salad was heavenly!
New cook. Bad chicken sandwich.
Amazing service. I proposed on their dock and tiki torches set up and rose pedals placed by many that helped at Alderbrook resort. She said yes! They gave us congrats dessert and a free drinks! So helpful and kind and delicious food. Thank you for everything!! We will be back.
We stayed at alderbrook for our Anniversary and used the restaurant three times. First was happy hour. I got a chicken Caesar salad and clam chowder. The salad had a small amount of dressing and the soup was slightly watery. My husband liked the oysters but they were expensive. Dinner was next. I ordered duck, my husband salmon. My plate was TERRIBLE. I'm the type that will literally eat anything but it was unbearable. The did replace my meal with some sort of bean dish that was equally bad. It was a hodge podge soup! My hubbies salmon was good. I had to beg my hubby to eat breakfast because I wanted breakfast in bed bad but he didn't wanna use the restaurant again. Breakfast ended up being fantastic!! I ordered French toast and he ordered a breakfast plate with potatoes, eggs, bacon. We won't be eating dinner ther again needless to say.
Food does not live up to the view, which is awe-inspiring. You are paying mainly for the view. My scallops was slightly above average. My wife's risotto, however, was one of the worse I've ever tasted. Completely overcooked to the point where it was more like porridge.
This was a disappointing meal at Alderbrook. We gladly sat at the bar while our table was getting ready. The bar staff was great and the cocktails were amazing. However, the table service was a little spotty, but overall not terrible for a busy Saturday night. But the food was the big disappointment. Both my handmade pasta and my partner's steak and fries were exceptionally bland. The steak was cooked well, just not flavorful at all. For as pricey as some of the dishes were, as well as the drinks, I would expect better food and ambiance. It was VERY loud - not conducive to an intimate meal. There were several large parties and LOTS of kids. I guess I expected it to be a different kind of place based on the menu and vibe of the resort itself. We probably would have been more comfortable in the bar.
We'd heard about the restaurant for years but just hadn't made it there until now. We'll definitely be back. Brunch -- eggs benedict, NW omelette, kale salad -- was outstanding, service was first-rate. Desert menu looked great but we were too full to try some. Nice view across Hood Canal. We walked around the Lodge and out on the dock after brunch to check it out. All of the staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful. It was kind of a slow Saturday in the winter, but still ... it left a very good impression and we'll be back later in the year to see how it is.
We recently dined and stayed here for our anniversary. From the minute we arrived we felt welcomed and relaxed. Our meal was hands down, the best we've ever had and we will be making this a yearly tradition. Highly reccommend.
The ambiance is great. Service was slow and 3 out of 4 items ordered came out lukewarm.
Disappointed in menu variety and some dishes. The crab cakes were wonderful. The scallops were great. Stay away from the pasta and breakfasts.
Great lunch! I had crab cakes and the baby kale salad which were both excellent! The only complaint was we had three children and they never brought their included drinks to us, which I did not recognize til the dinner was almost over so just let it go. And also they mixed up the dessert order giving us a maple cake instead of the creme brulee we ordered but they did let us keep it and took it off the bill, so that was nice! Other than those things the lunch was great!
Excellent service and the food was exceptional. The beignets are always a treat!
Really good food, although they could use some more vegan options.
We went all out & splurged on a four course meal for two, with wine pairings. The food and experience were more than worth it, with good service as well. The view of Hood Canal & Olympic Mountains is majestic. We also enjoyed a room service breakfast of eggs Benedict over crab cake, which was absolutely delicious.
Our waitress was great, food was great except the price on one of the dishes we ate was not worth the price tag. Even though all taste was great and to our liking. The wait in between dishes was a bit too long. Our experience was good we are definitely coming back & thinking on an overnight stay next time to enjoy the full resort amenities.
The service and atmosphere were great. There was a Valentine special offered that we overheard explained to the diners besides us after we ordered our food that our waitress never explained to us. Also, the menu was very limited that night so we felt there were not too many options to choose from. But the food was good and will definitely go back and recommend to our friends.
We enjoyed a nice meal tonight , celebrating a birthday and Valentine's Day. Door was very good overall but Caesar salad a bit of a disappointment. Hubby had the NY Steak and I the steelhead. Both were cooked to perfection. Wait person made it extra special. She was pure delight. Ambience unparalleled. All in all a nice evening out.
Would like to see a more expansive menu, more meat & fish options.
Staff very nice and personable. Food was excellent.
One negative comment - stayed in room 419(?) on 13 Feb 18. Drain in bathroom sink was partially clogged - drained slowly. Did bring this issue to staff at front desk at time of checkout. No other negative comments to share. Great Stay!
Easy to get a r enervation and a very nice server.
The Alderbrook Inn, a favorite resort for Corporate retreats, is a beauty on the Hood Canal with majestic views of the Olympic mountain range. Power and sail boaters can pull in and have a great meal and stay at a first class resort with three floors of lodging and a world-class restaurant. The happy hours each day from 3 to 6 pm offer generous discounts on food and drink in the bar area which is very large. Service cannot be beat by the local servers. This place is a good drive from Tacoma/Seattle and so is a destination place. We were staying in a resort one half mile away that does not have a restaurant so the Alderbrook was a wonderful place for meals when we didn't feel like cooking at our condo. We will be back.
The service was outstanding!! Our server Michelle was the best. I wished there were some vegan opinions just vegetarian ones. We had an amazing time here. I totally recommend.
I am repeating myself but this is truly a great place to dine. The service is excellent, the food is wonderful, and the view is the best.
We were at the Alderbrook for Christmas Day Brunch. The buffet food was lukewarm, at best. I expected better since we were there first thing in the morning and for the price ($49/per). Not worth the price we paid. Very disappointed.
Some items were really good and others weren’t. Our server was nice but didn’t check in to make sure everything was ok, which it wasn’t, and our bill was not credited to compensate. I was also disappointed in the menu selection.
This is one of our top five restaurants anywhere and we travel a lot. We come here every Thursday for appetizers, The best anywhere especially if you like sea food. The view is the best, you look out over the Olympic Mountains majestic in the summer, snow caped in the winter. You just can not find another place like it.
Like everyone (I'm sure) we requested a window table when we made our 6.30pm reservation. Upon arrival our hostess informed us that there were other reservations arriving shortly, so she was unable to give us a window table (fair enough). Instead, we sat on the upper level overlooking the window tables, where I got to be quite chummy with a potted plant that kept tickling my head during dinner, and where my date and I could easily see that during our entire dinner there were never less than TWO free window tables, including one table that stayed open the entire time. Other than that, our food was decent (especially the pumpkin bisque), and our wait staff were quite attentive and friendly.
The staff was beyond outstanding and the setting is wonderful. The menu however is getting stale. It would be nice to see some new items to select from. All four of us had the open face crab sandwich, which we found disappointing. Rather than pieces of crab, it was more like tuna salad. The desert, an apple and pear tart with pomegranate seeds, was delicious and pleasing to the palate. Overall, we had a wonderful day of ambiance and fellowship.
Went for our anniversary everyone was wonderful and very welcoming , food was great and fast service and great rooms and hot tub
Was looking forward to a great Brunch. Did not get what was expected. All three meals were cooked incorrectly and one was cooked incorrectly twice. This is a really high priced restaurant and for the money you would expect your food to be correct. 2 out of 3 meals were sent back to the kitchen. 1 Out of 3 was sent back twice. As a retired executive chef, I feel the food is marginal and over priced. The menu is too pretentious for this venue
Food and service is always excellent! Beautifully decorated for Christmas.
