About The Restaurant at Alderbrook
Our location brings out the best in fresh local seafood, dry aged beef, world-class wines and waterfront views - making The Restaurant at Alderbrook a destination in itself.
The interior setting of The Restaurant at Alderbrook takes its inspiration from the outdoors with warm colors of chocolate brown and sage green representing the gardens and lawn of the resort. Floor-to-ceiling windows and multi-levels amplify views of the brilliant shore and snow-capped peaks of the Olympic Mountains.
The cuisine showcases local seafood harvested from Puget Sound and Hood Canal. After all, our shores are encrusted with oysters, our docks lined with mussels, and our sea teems with salmon.

The Restaurant at Alderbrook Ratings and Reviews
Everything is just right about this restaurant. Lovely service and the Dungeness crab appetizer is absolutely smashing and so is the rest of the menu.. We ate at a highly rated restaurant a day later in Vancouver and the Alderbrook easily held up against that standard. Portions are right too, with all this good taste, you don't want to overeat. Worth the drive, early reservation with ask for waterfront view seating highly recommended.
We had a dinner reservation but cancelled because we had eaten a late lunch and weren't hungry. Cancellation was easy and the receptionist was very friendly and gave us other options like sitting outside or in the bar and ordering off the bar menu, which we did. We had the Grand Marnier Shrimp which was luke warm, the sliders which were dry, and the calimari, which was warm but seemed under cooked. The food took quite a while to get there for which the waiter apologized a couple of times. Surprising since the restaurant/bar wasn't that busy. Pretty disappointing, but not many options for dinner in the area.
Don't look now but this place has arrived. Food is now really quite good-- no longer a "hold you hostage" only game in town but stepping up their game and executing at a quite respectable level. My only beef is with the host and the clueless way we were seated--I wouldn't bother if it hadn't happened on each of my last 3 visits. The team needs to start showing first impression technique and sorry but a high school summer job at least should be trained. But nicely progressing as an establishment.
First time at this restaurant. Celebrating my wife's birthday with friends. Not impressed with the food for the cost and the ambiance. My meal was cold and very disappointing. My wife ordered the salmon it would have been nice to include in the description that it it served with the skin on. All in all for the price of the dinner I won't be back. Service was hectic and slow.
The restaurant was busy, sat at the bar till the table was ready. Great selection of craft beers and cocktails. Staff was friendly and service was prompt. Once seated, we were welcomed with warm bread and herb butter. Eager to try as much as possible. Started with the clam chowder, beet salad and fried calamari. The clam chowder was well seasoned, full of plump clams and bacon. A nice smoke drenched it. Could've licked the bowl. The fried calamari was light and sweet. Didn't expect to like it as much as I did, my husband ordered it. Usually not a calamari person, but I can be, now. The beet salad was pretty to look at, but lacked flavor. Any kind of flavor, but something.
The steelhead was perfectly cooked, fresh and perfectly seasoned. Was not my entre. The scallops were crispy on the outside and had a burst of sweetness on the inside. Was not my entre. My entre was the pork chop. Medium cooked and glazed. Savory and sweet all at once. Not certain of the side, but it smothered with tiny onions and it complemented the chop wonderfully. The evening was a whole lot of yumminess.
Nice restaurant with great views. One of the best crab cakes that we've ever had. If you have a party larger than 4, DO NOT let them seat you in the "wine room". It's literally 45-50 degrees in there and they say, "it has to be chilled for the wine". It's ridiculous and most of our party had to go back to their rooms during dinner to get their jackets. Why would you seat people in a refrigerator? The restaurant has an air of trying to be fancier than it's capable of being. On the bottle of wine that we ordered, the server didn't properly uncork it where one of us actually cut our hands (and started bleeding) on the cork capsule because they didn't remove it, they just ripped the cork out through the metal covering and left the jagged edges.
The server Michelle was great! The beet salad was delicious, as were the desserts. The entrees were good, not great. The scallops in my husbands dish were very tiny and overcooked, as was my pork chop, tho it was somewhat tender and toward the bone was juicy, the pretzel spaetzle was not good, so tiny that it was like mush, took leftovers home and ended up throwing them away.
We had the best lunch here this week. Spending time at Hood Canal always means eating here. The food is always top notch and the view is so peaceful. I had the Cobb Salad, loaded with fresh crab,a poached egg, blue cheese with a champagne vinaigrette. My husband had the crab melt with a side of delicious clam chowder. We wish we had room for dessert but maybe next time.
It was outstanding! Me and my love had such a great time celebrating our anniversary here. Not only the waterfront view was amazing, also the food and how the waiter was treating us was just great. We felt very special and everybody made it even better. Our food was perfectly decorated for our special occasion and the table was perfectly decorated as well. I enjoyed every minute and would recommend that spot at any time. We definitely come back here not only to enjoy the water and view, but also to enjoy the ambience of the restaurant and their amazing food.
We took my husband's sister to her favorite restaurant to celebrate her birthday, and as always, everything was perfect. Service was attentive without being bothersome, food was delicious, and view was terrific. We enjoy the Sunday brunch menu, and sure enough, my husband had a breakfast item and my sis-in-law & I had lunch items...yum!
We went as a last-minute whoops for Father's Day, as in "whoops, no one made reservations for 6 and it's Saturday night!" Got in for a mid-afternoon slot, we were grateful they made space for us. It was in the back, around the corner, and they just put 3 small round 2-tops together, but it worked out fine. Server was super sweet and tried to be as attentive as possible, but little things kind of tripped her up, like no spoons with 5 of us drinking coffee...she only brought one little pot of cream to the table, so we were constantly looking for her to bring us more...had to ask for salt and pepper, stuff like that. But she was trying so hard and was so pleasant, I just wanted to hug her. Food was delicious, and there was plenty to choose from. FRESH crab, so good. Prime rib cooked perfectly. Rhubarb dessert bars that were a perfect blend of tart and sweet. Sausage gravy with drop biscuits, smokey-smokey bacon, and omelettes made to order. Fresh fruit, pasta, salads, antipasto, cheese and crackers...fresh oysters and delicious prawns...really a great dining experience. We will be back -- I think if we had done a better job of not trying to squeeze in a large party last-minute, it would have been perfect.
Our waitstaff made our brunch miserable. I am 71 years old, but that does not entitle a waitress to patronize me by patting me on the shoulder every time she came to the table. Not that she came to the table often, as twice I had to find some other waitstaff member to take used plates from our small table. I also had to request a coffee refill, as the cup sat half-empty and cold for almost an hour.
The name on the credit card receipt is "Jody." She should be counseled for appropriate behavior--keeping her hands off the customers and paying attention to their needs.
Had a delightful experience at the Alderbrook resort restaurant. Happy Hour before dinner with clams and wine was a great way to start. Dinner afterward was delicious. Super happy that the waiter who served us at Happy Hour had found my gold earring and returned it to me in the dining room!! I hadn't even noticed that it was missing. She was so sweet! Another nice surprise was the dessert at the end of the meal. It was a gift for us celebrating our anniversary with them!
I took my partner here for her birthday. We stayed overnight and celebrated her birthday with dinner at the restaurant. Unfortunately our dinner dining experience was poor. She ordered her steak medium rare and it was served to her as medium well. We sent the meat back and, after an extremly long wait, we received a new dish which was cooked rare. I nibbled on my dish and she nibbled on her vegetables while we waited for the replacement steak which definitely negatively affected our dining experience. By the time the replacement steak came out of the kitchen the remainder of my food was cold. After the second steak was improperly cooked we requested the manager come to our table. He offered to reheat her steak for a few more minutes; which I believe is against health codes. Anyway, long story short, they removed the meal from our bill. No other compensation was offered. Very disappointed. The birthday girl didn't even get a decent meal on her birthday. :(
Excellent food and drinks. Our server was a little slow getting to us but once there did an admirable job of helping us navigate the food and wine menu. I had the scallops, which had a flavorful yet delicate balance of flavor. My friend had the Wagyu beef with mushrooms and roasted turnips. We did not know what vegetables the turnips were at first, they had a deep rich roasted flavor that was delicious, as was the generous mix of beef and mushrooms. I plan to go back again.
We ate at the Alderbrook Restaurant a few times during our stay over memorial day. I felt like it was very overpriced for what we got. The breakfast was the biggest disappointment because of the fact that there was a buffet which was cheaper than what we paid but NOBODY TOLD US ABOUT IT. Our waiter didn't even come back to check on us after we got our food and my poached egg was VERY OVERDONE and I would have sent it back but I never got the chance. Dinner was ok but just seemed so overpriced. The food wasn't anything "out of this world" and I regretted getting about half of the things we did. Beets were NOT ripe, crab cakes and cauliflower were pretty bland and the mains were good but not great.
Next time I stay at Alderbrook, I'll get a second mini fridge and bring more of my own food to not have to be dependent on the restaurant. I would like to go back for the breakfast buffet but don't know how often that is served and have learned that I now need to ask ahead of time if there is one because apparently nobody will tell you.
Food came out cold , sent back soup, came back fine , My food was cold , tuna was dry, bok choy was not done did not like the dish presentation in a bowl.
Bread and Butter was great ! and desert was great !!! drink was great !!!!
I plan to come back again , I had a 4 star dinner there a year ago !!!
What a surprise to be greeted with a post card celebrating our special day, and also dessert. We are vegetarian and I was told the kitchen could do anything to accommodate us, and they did. The fruit cup was not only beautiful but the fruit was actually ripe and flavorful. The carrot bread was delightful and a surprise as well.
As for our dinner it was amazing. I am an Italian chef trained in Tuscany and I can tell you that your risotto was absolutely inspiring with all those beautiful thinly sliced vegetables and perfectly cooked rice. Brilliant flavors and texture. Don't change a thing about the risotto...The beet salad was not only delicious but pleasing to the eye. My wife had the halibut and loved every bite.
We live close by, less than 10 miles and have found that there is no better place to have a relaxing great meal. Alderbrook is our go to place, it's a vacation spot for us, if we could go anyplace in western Washington this is it. We reserved a room and had dinner just the other day for our 17th anniversary while my parents watched our 5 children. I would advise anyone and everyone who is looking for a great atmosphere and great food with impeccable service to give it try, I would be very surprised if you don't make this place a destination spot. I encourage you to take the trip and let your wife go to the spa and or yoga classes while you hit the golf course.
We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and from the moment we sat down, it was a very special evening. Nicole, our waitress, was outstanding. There for our every need, but also knew that we wanted to take our time and enjoy this very special evening together. The food was out of this world! The scallops and pork chop were the best we have ever had. And to make the end of the evening so special, we received a complimentary dessert with Happy Anniversary written on the plate in chocolate. We would definitely return!
We had not been back to Alderbrook for 15 years. Crazy that it took this long. The current chef is doing some great things and the staff is very professional and accommodating. We had lunch, dinner and breakfast and al were memorable. Add in the view and the surroundings and this is a winner!!!
Beautiful, intimate setting with attentive, yet not intrusive wait staff. Good food, priced fairly. Presented well. All-in-all, positive.
First experienced the hotel and restaurant over 50 years ago. Keep returning once or twice each year. I guess that says something...
