Our location brings out the best in fresh local seafood, dry aged beef, world-class wines and waterfront views - making The Restaurant at Alderbrook a destination in itself.

The interior setting of The Restaurant at Alderbrook takes its inspiration from the outdoors with warm colors of chocolate brown and sage green representing the gardens and lawn of the resort. Floor-to-ceiling windows and multi-levels amplify views of the brilliant shore and snow-capped peaks of the Olympic Mountains.

The cuisine showcases local seafood harvested from Puget Sound and Hood Canal. After all, our shores are encrusted with oysters, our docks lined with mussels, and our sea teems with salmon.

Celebrating our 48th. Anniversary. A very special occasion with a dinner to match. From the reception thru desert, everyone and everything was perfect. I had the Grand Marnier prawns as an hors d’oeuvre. In the Northwest, to claim the “ best I’ve ever had” is quite a statement. But these could very well be the best to date. My sturgeon.was wonderful, moist and delicious. My bride’s salmon was cooked to perfection. A nice sear, but again, moist and delicious. A perfect tiramisu, for dessert, to top off the evening. We will return, and recommend this restaurant for your special occasion.

My wife and I had lunch there and we really enjoyed the atmosphere, the view, and the outstanding and friendly service. We both ordered the fish and chips and ate them without commenting as we were enjoy our time together and discussing happy things. At the end of the meal my wife had two of the three pieces of fish still on her plate. I asked if she wanted to take them home and she said, "only if you'd eat them." I said, "oh no, I would not eat them." That opened the conversation to use both discussing that this was our worst fish and chips experience we've ever had. Now it's been a long time but, the breading reminded me of McDonald's chicken nuggets. I was concerned when the menu stated it was Rock Fish, which I love for fish tacos, but I'd never seen such a flat filet used as a breaded fish. My concern was confirmed. It's not a good fish to deep fry. It's too flat and gets to greasy. The batter also had some undercooked doughy parts, probably due to not wanting to overcook the very thin fish. Because the restsurant is so nice, I will return and try a different meal, one that is harder to mess up, to give it another chance. Just in case my visit was when the head chef was on vacation.

Beautiful ambience, but that's about it. Food was lacking in both quality and selection. Very expensive for what you get. I paid $36 for a bowl of pork and beans with a few small slices of under cooked duck on top. We won't be going back.

Amazing atmosphere. Nice staff. We stay and eat here once a year. I have not been impressed with the main entrees the last two years. I would not recommend the ahi tuna; it wasn't very good. Overpriced overall. The dessert was the best part of the meal. The hotel part of Alderbrook is the best!

Delicious, well-crafted, and a great PNW experience in food, cocktails and atmosphere. The king salmon with clams was perfect: crisp skin, succulent fish, savory warming tomato sauce. The black cod was also perfect: skin crisped in brown butter, light and cooked to moist perfection. The sides steal a bit of the show, savory and well-paired. And the grounds lit for the holidays with greenery and Canal decor were cheery, reflected beautifully in the water. We are making dining here a habit!

We always love an opportunity to enjoy this restaurant. We stayed at the lodge for a few days and thoroughly enjoyed their food. Our first night we arrived a bit later so I wanted a lighter dinner. We ate in their bar. I had the caesar salad with salmon and the hubs had their burger. Both were very delicious. The next day we split a BLT before heading out for a hike. It was so good. Made with roasted tomatoes which really made the sandwich. After the hike we shared Eggs Benedict and they did not disappoint. Dinner was another excellent meal. The hubs had the NY Strip with Frites (truffle) and I did the Risotto. I had a few pieces of the steak and it was yummy and the risotto was to die for. Highly recommend eating here. Well worth it. They have excellent fish and chips and chowder as well. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Ever since the remodel, which is very nice, I particularly like the local information and pictures of the canal area. We have been a patron of Alderbrook since 2010 when I moved to the Belfair area. The Restaurant At Alderbrook was the first restaurant I visited and my wife and I have been a regular ever since. As a former Restaurant Owner I enjoyed the food and the professional as well as attentive staff. However, it appears that there may have been a change in the kitchen. The quality of the food preparation has definitely changed. It may be a result of the difficulties our economy has suffered, which hopefully will change on November 8th. or just the time required when a remodel of a restaurant goes through a major change. Been there done that!! Anyway, I just wanted to let you know my thoughts as a long time patron. My wife and I have enjoyed the restaurant for many years celebrated many special family events and look forward to continuing to do so. I hope my observations will be useful. John and Martha Lewman

The service was first rate—Kim took great care of us as we celebrated a friend’s 81st Birthday (last year we celebrated her 80th at the same restaurant)! The Ruebens were so delicious and had generous portions of corned beef and cheese. Loved the crinkle cut sweet potato fries (definitely worth the $3 upgrade). A wonderful experience—we will be back again next year!

Saturday dinner at 8:00 was pleasant with many other guests dining at a wedding reception under a tent. Oysters on the half-shell were excellent, from very local sources. Salmon and halibut were both delicious as well. Lowlight was the service. Oysters were dumped off with no forks and no word other than “enjoy.” The waiter later stopped by to tell us what the oysters were after we’d eaten them. While we were still eating our desserts and drinking our last glasses of wine the waiter dropped off the check. That was jarring because I’d just returned from Europe where lingering after a meal was expected and the bill never came unless requested. Welcome home, I guess.

My wife and I enjoy dining at Alderbrook several times each year. It is generally far and away the best restaurant along the Hood. Last night we went there to celebrate her birthday. The restaurant was busy as it nearly always is. There was a large wedding reception outside in a tent, also very common. To start, we shared the Grand Marnier Prawns, a favorite of ours. These had a very thin and watery sauce with little flavor, unlike the typical boldly flavored prawns with a thick sauce usually served. I had the risotto as a main course - I always enjoy the Alderbrook risotto's, this one was excellent. My wife had the ribeye, ordered medium. Usually this is quite good, but this serving was leaking blood all over the plate when served. We also shared the roasted cauliflower, which we often enjoy as it is crisp and flavorful. This one was certainly not roasted. It had no seasoning at all. It would have been more appropriately served to Dr Oz as part of a crudites platter. The waiter seemed quite distracted. We have seen him at the restaurant in the past, but he had never served us. We had to repeat our orders more than once. He asked if this was a special occasion and I responded that it was my wife's birthday. He congratulated her but he did manage to forget the birthday desert. Finally, there was no valet service last night. That was not a big deal to us since in spite of a filled parking lot since we saw a space close by. Often when the restaurant is crowded parking spaces are far distant. This was a disappointing meal and experience. I think we will give Alderbrook a rest for a long while.

Enjoyed a delicious weekend brunch. After what was apparently a VERY busy breakfast service the place was nearly empty at 11:00 and we could savor the quiet of the cozy inn and the chilly, placid scene overlooking the canal outside. Except for the crash and clatter of the staff slinging around dishes and cutlery.

The halibut was too salty. I really wanted to like it but it was too salty. The server was wonderful I. Trying to make it right By offering extra buttery sauce, to order another one or a dessert on the house. She ended up giving us a 30% credit On our next meal which was my preference. She was amazing with a high level of service. She did an excellent Job of service recovery.

We have been to the restaurant at Alderbrook Inn several times in the past for special occasions and were always favorably impressed with both the food and service. This time was different. While the service was once again very good we were very dissapointed with the food. We both ordered the Wagyu beef meatball marina with pasta, and ended up with one large dry meatball and spaghetti with very little sauce. We certainly expected something better. One other thing, they now automatically add 20% to the bill as a "service charge" with 75% going to the server and the remainder split between the staff.

The quality of the food and taste has gone down. I've been a customer for at least 5 years and this is probably the first time I did not enjoy my dinner. The Ceasar salad (which is usually my favorite) was missing the white anchovies and didn't have croutons. The romaine was drowned in Ceasar dressing and it tasted very bland. The wine selection was not great, and neither were the wines we ordered. I had to send mine back for a different drink. Our waiter, Keithan, was fantastic!! Overall, it was just a disappointing food experience for the price. Not sure I will dine there anytime soon again.

By the open windows, overlooking the water, with a pale autumn glow on the distant mountains ... waterside contemporary lodge coziness, quiet bustle, and barely-there background music; good cocktail selection (spruce & juniper gin-base with lime and pickled fresh cranberries was delicious and refreshing); and excellent complex-flavored perfectly cooked food. The halibut and salmon were the stars, and the sides on the plates (mushroom bread pudding, granny smith and arugula warm salad, gremolata!) were just as good. I'd pass on the coconut pudding again but that was just because everything else was so perfect and we should have skipped dessert anyway. Can't wait to go back!

My husband and I have dined at Alderbrook many times, and even got married there a few years ago. It's become our go-to spot for celebrations and out of town visitors over the last ~5 years. We visited yesterday for our anniversary dinner, and it was somewhat disappointing. We were interested to see the updated dining room after their recent renovations and it wasn't very...interesting. The dining room seems noisier and the decor is now pretty lackluster and more casual - less "upscale" (albeit outdated) than before. The food was disappointing and service was slow. It took an hour to get our food. Server didn't seem to care. We were sitting at our table waiting to order while the server was chatting it up at the next table over, just taking their time. There were no specials available and they were out of salmon at 7:30 pm We used to really like the duck entree and it wasn't on the menu anymore Clam chowder - not as good as before. Texture was runny/thin, flavor was bland. Same for the spaghetti with Wagyu meatballs, also the pasta was a bit undercooked - less than 'al dente'. I ordered the Grand Marnier prawns and halibut entree - both were pretty good and met expectations based on previous visits. Desserts were average (s'mores tart - marshmallow was really charred, not an enjoyable flavor. coconut pudding - appreciate a dairy/gluten free option but it sort of reads as a breakfast parfait)

Perhaps it was an aberration, but our dinner at Alderbrook was the worst restaurant meal we have had in many years. After a day of hiking along Hood Canal, we were looking forward to a halibut dinner. We arrived promptly at 7:00 and were greeted by friendly and pleasant staff who seated us at a wonderful table by the window. The view was amazing. We ordered wine and starters, which were quite good. Our server, who was also very pleasant, cleared the starter plates and announced confidently that our halibut would be out shortly. It was a great start to the evening, and we started talking about returning to Alderbrook for our next wedding anniversary. But then we waited . . . and waited . . . and waited. Discussion of an anniversary dinner ceased. Finally, well over 30 minutes later, our server arrived with our halibut and said that we would be comped desserts because of the wait. Nice, we thought. He left and then we examined our halibut. It was tough and dry. Either it had been severely overcooked or it stayed under the heating lights for all of our over 30 minute wait. It was inedible. So, we picked at it for a while, and when the apologetic server returned, we said we were done. Desserts were just okay, but ever the most amazing desserts would not have made up for the dreadful dinner experience. We should have sent our halibut back and asked for a bowl of clam chowder and some more bread.

Overall me and my wife were there for 2 hours. The mixed drinks were great. After waiting for over an hour for 2 entrees they both came out cold and underwhelming. When we told our server about the issue the food was remade and brought out 45 minutes later. Bored and wanting to leave at that point we received our food that was indeed warm but extremely bland. The marinara in the pasta had no flavor profile or zest. The halibut was boring and also bland. When the server asked if we wanted dessert and recommended coming back for brunch I nearly laughed out loud. The restaurant has an automatic 20% gratuity. Our server was nice but If we could have we would have given a 5-10 percent tip because the experience was a drawn out, boring and a bland disappointment.
