The Reserve Steakhouse - Harrah's Joliet Ratings and Reviews
Love the reserve, just a little disappointed that each time I go, the servings get smaller and smaller. Two weeks ago, got the scallop appetizer, 3 scallops went back got it again, 2 scallops.
The advertised apple tart desert is really not good, picture looks delicious but the apples are not cooked enough and the flavor is very bland. I did very much enjoy my meal of artic char though and have never had a meal there I did not thoroughly enjoy.
We were celebrating my sister's birthday and it was denoted on the reservations; unfortunately the server never acknowledged it at all. I thought service was very slow this night. It was busy but it took us 2.5hrs for dinner and we didn't even order appetizers. 2 of the 4 entrees were not good. We ordered the pork chops -which for $31 I thought I was getting a "double cut" pork chop; what I actually got was a "double pork chop". It was tuff and not that warm - I ended up sending it back. My mother order the meatloaf and felt it had too much filler in it - she stated it didn't take good. Initially I wasn't going to say anything but the manager came by and asked and we told him. He quickly offered to replace the meals but by this time we just shared the steaks my sister's ordered. The ribeye steaks were incredible - both were tender and very tasty. Because we declined to order additional entrees the manager did offer dessert on him. Which was very good (flourless chocolate cake and creme brulee). I was impressed that they had $5 drink specials which was nice. Many times we ended up spending more for the drinks than the food. My only last comment was the fact that they didn't ask or acknowledge that we were celebrating a birthday. And it took a really long time for food to come out. I felt like I was on a cruise ship dinner where it takes 3hrs to get thru dinner.
It was my wife’s birthday celebration. A day that I like to make special for her. I marked the “box” labeled Birthday and noted it in the request section as well. The hostess made mention when we checked in but the server never even mentioned it. Many places these days ask if you’re celebrating anything but that didn’t happen. The food was good but if you want to make someone feel special I would choose another place!
We were on time for our reservation & still had to wait 20 min for a table. Hostess seemed busy & confused. When we were finally seated, there were 7 empty tables around us & the room did not seem busy. It never did fill up while we were there. After waiting another 10 minutes, we flagged down the manager & asked at least for some water while we waited. We were then assigned a server, as apparently the original was too busy for us. They were out of what we ordered, so we settled on the swordfish & the double pork chops. The swordfish was very good, but the chops were inedible. Although the quality of the meat was very good, the handfuls of salt ruined any chance of consumption. The salt was assaulting & was making me gag. I was told that the every other Sunday chef has a habit of too much salt & that he has already been warned about it. Maybe every other Sunday is a little too often. Salt if used, should be used to enhance flavors, not take over the dish. That pork didn't have a chance. We were seated for 1 hour 20 min & had only a half salad & one entree each. No drinks, appetizer, desert -- long time for a simple meal. By the way, the server we ended up with (Kyle) was very good - personable & very efficient.
The food was good and adequately presented. There was nothing special about the presentation. The service was excellent. Our server, Jessica, was attentive without hovering; concerned without intruding. The ambiance was good. It was quiet as were dining on a Thursday evening. We were there about 3 hours and, although more guests came in, it never got noisy or too busy. It was an enjoyable evening.
We asked to be seated in a quiet place and they accommodated us. The service was great! My friend had the t-bone steak and it was outstanding. I also recommend the shrimp cocktail. The shrimps were large and very very fresh. The Bruschetta appetizer was also very good. I had the small lobster tail. It was good, but I think the steak was better. I would definitely recommend going here if you want fine dining.
The steaks at the Reserve are cooked as directed and have an excellent flavor. We had filet mignon, which were tender and thick. The attention by the staff is excellent......there to assist us, as necessary, without hovering. The ambiance is quiet and befitting an upscale restaurant.
My wife and I had dinner at the reserve. We had salad for an opener and our entrée was swordfish dinner with a baked potato and asparagus. The food was beautifully prepared and tasted delicious . Our server, Josh, was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. All in all, it was fine dining in the suburbs.
