A very relaxing, quaint place for great food and service. Each course was excellent and the choice of teas was great.
It was our first time and we were celebrating my sister's 60th. The wait staff was wonderful. We were there for hours, no rush. We did the high tea. The food was plenty. The pianist played "Happy Birthday" and the waiter brought a special dessert with a candle.
We had a fabulous time and will definitely be back-
Service was wonderful. Tea and refreshments were high quality. Pianist added a great touch. Would recommend!
The quality of food was second to none! I took my 14-yr old daughter because she loves to drink tea. What a treat this was. The scones, clotted cream, lemon curd and preserves were perfection.
Came for the High tea for a girl friends birthday. I was surprised it is located in the center location in the lobby- I would’ve prefer a more intimate setting. With all the guests in and out so it was a bit noisy. Service was great so was the food. Staffs were very accommodating, wait staff even surprised my friend with a special desert plates so thank you. Would come again. Money worth spending for special occasions!
This is my favorite spot for afternoon tea. I was delighted by the jazz piano player.
I went this Sunday with two of my girlfriends for a get together and it turned out to be a galentine celebration. Our waiter, Fernando was excellent. He was polite, knowledgeable, friendly and he knew just when to approach us to check in on us. He really made the experience all that much more special.
My friend and I went here to celebrate my birthday. The tea itself was really good but be careful when ordering food. We weren't hungry enough to order the $55 high tea which looked like it had a lot of food so we went for the sandwiches which were $16 and we each got one of the 4 options. I ordered a Champagne cocktail which was on the menu for $12. The waiter brought my friend a cocktail even though she hadn't ordered one but we figured for $12 we'd keep both. When the bill came though we were charged $16 for each cocktail. The waiter told us it's because we ordered things separately and not the $55 package. He never mentioned this when we were ordering the cocktail. This was really frustrating because it was not a $16 cocktail!
The sandwiches were ok. Some tasted like they had been defrosted that morning and put out. The staff weren't friendly and it almost felt like we were an inconvenience to them.
I wouldn't recommend this if you are looking for a really nice high tea. The service is below par and the quality of the food is much less than what you pay for.
Crap service. Food was less than average. Could be improved greatly.
Needs staff that are real and happy to be at work not staff that has the life sucked out of them.
My wife and I attended afternoon tea. We were surrounded by business people talking business. The tea was good, but the sandwiches were mediocre at best; the scones were a bad middle-ground between American and Brittish scones; and he desserts were not good. Rather than a single tiered platter for all foods, as is normal, the foods were brought out in courses so I couldn’t eat what I wanted in whatever order.
In sum: Worst afternoon tea I’ve had in Boston.
The best afternoon tea in Boston!!
Afternoon tea is a fading experience in Boston and our tea at the Langham, once a favorite, was mediocre in every regard.
Came for high tea. Did not disappoint!
We went to Afternoon Tea at The Reserve to celebrate the holidays. I was looking for an elegant, special spot to enjoy a quiet and special afternoon with my daughter, and The Reserve filled the bill. The food was beautifully prepared and excellent, with an extensive tea menu to start. We added a glass of champagne to the menu we enjoyed. I would recommend The Reserve with enthusiasm to anyone looking for an elegant High Tea experience in Boston.
Amazing service!!! The afternoon tea menu was extensive and delicious!
Little girls high tea. Our granddaughters loved every moment! Service was timely and impeccable. Recommend highly.
went for afternoon tea for the third year in a row. this was excellent for the third year in a row.
food, atmosphere, service, piano player all made for a great late afternoon tea.
It was a wonderful afternoon and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Even though we had finished our meal, we did not feel rushed to leave. Wonderful visit.
The service was not as good as I would expect for 55.00 afternoon tea. The server did not want to engage on the types of tea or suggestions. We ordered a champagne during the tea and we never got it. It felt like they wanted to do the least possible for each patron. The tea service itself was fine. They did allow us to substitute the salmon sandwich for another which was great.
The Langham Hotel was decorated beautifully and tastefully for the Christmas holiday. Live piano music was a pleasant backdrop for Tea at The Langham.
Sadly, we had a disappointing experience. We have attended afternoon tea here many times before ballet performances... usually we have an amazing experience. However, this time was really a 1 star experience. It was not very busy, but our server was unresponsive and disinterested in service. We waited for 20 minutes just to place our initial drink order and a request for nuts (which never came with our drinks and followed 30 minutes later after our tea started). When our tea/coffee came, no cream or sugar... which after requesting several times, came after our beverages were cold. The special "shrimp" which we ordered, at $18, was literally ONE shrimp with a stroke of sauce and tiny herb garmish - I enjoy nicely plated, special dishes, but at $18-- this failed. There were numerous other issues but to sum up-- just not helpful! I sincerely hope they evaluate their current tea room servers, as it will be hard to retun to a $275 tea experience for 4 people, when we had to repeatedly ask for water ...
We went for high tea. There were only a few tables. The service was terrible. We waited long periods to order and between courses. The server continually leaned over the table to serve plates. When I requested a clean plate for the scones, the server gave me a plate he had taken from someone else in our party (a used plate). When I pointed this out he argued with me. Exceptionally poor service.
Fabulous hotel and fabulous restaurant setting. Had afternoon tea..what a delight. Attentive service and attention to detail. Had a wonderful afternoon there.
What a wonderful birthday treat this was! Afternoon tea was everything it should be!
My friend and I went
Yet another fabulous afternoon tea experience. The scones came out HOT from the oven and were to die for. Everything is presented beautifully, the tea is wonderful and served expertly, with a timer and a strainer to remove the leaves at the proper time. The Wedgwood china and pale pink roses on the table were lovely. My friend was celebrating her 30th birthday, and the pianist broke into "Happy Birthday" as the waiter brought us a bonus plate of treats, complete with birthday candle. It was truly special.
I was extremely disappointed with the afternoon tea - tea went cold immediately, sandwiches were dry and sub par , and desserts were low quality. The price of $50 per person was not justified.
My daughter, daughter in law and I decided to treat ourselves with the afternoon tea. When we arrived, there was a piano player and the music seemed quite appropriate for the setting. The food was wonderful and the service was very good. At some point during our meal, a wedding party came in and stood all around the area where we were sitting. The noise and chatter completely destroyed the ambience. I'm sure they were only there for the bar. I would think there is another area with a bar where parties like that could wait, without disturbing other guests. Overall we greatly enjoyed our afternoon and I would recommend it for anyone looking for that place with a difference.
Great ambiance. Came in for a bridal tea. The bride enjoyed it, and we had a great time. Can have slower service when busy, but tea isn't supposed to be rushed anyway!
afternoon tea was lovely, service was excellent, special plate of sweets was a nice touch for our anniversary, pianist played perfect music for an afternoon tea
Had another great afternoon tea. Will be back at xmas time
I do wish we were greeted in a more friendly and warm way.
There was no -"Good Afternoon"
Great vegetarian options, but they must be requested in advance. I called the day before to tell them the number of vegetarians in our group.
The last time we went for Tea it was much better. The tea was excellent but the bread was stale and the deserts were O.K, scones were great. We had two servers the man was excellent but the women was grumpy. I will give it one more try in the future.
Enjoyed the varied tastes and textures of the tea food selection were very good. The tea itself was very good, it was fun reading all descriptions of the various teas. We just wished that it was held in an actual restaurant, the tea ( and lunch) are served in what is basically part of the lobby that is differentiated by a few plants and a carpeted floor. Everyone checking in and coming through the front doors are all right there. This kind of butters the illusion a bit. But I would go back. I think I would ask for a table near the wall.
This place rates with the best Afternoon Tea venues of anywhere I've tried in Boston. The tea was fabulous and came with a timer so you knew when to remove the leaves-- a sure sign that they take their brew seriously. The food was delicious-- the strawberry tart crusts were nicely crisp; the trifle had a biscuit layer that was also impressively crisp and not soggy at all. The lobster salad had large chunks of lobster. Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere. Tea was served on Wedgwood china. The only complaint is that my companion's take-away box of lovely little fancy cakes was placed in the bag sideways, so they ended up a jumbled mess. What a shame for such lovely little cakes! But the take-away bag itself is a beautiful keepsake-- pale pink with gold trim. Overall I loved it and will definitely come back.
At $50 per person the afternoon tea service is pricey but so worth it. The sandwiches and desserts are impeccably presented and the scones are amazing. Tea was great, service was friendly and helpful. I loved it!
VERY expensive. However it was one of the items my wife wanted to do on her bucket list. A Wedgwood tea service. One and done for me.
We had a wonderful time, the staff was very professional. they did not rush us and let us go at our own pace. They took the time to explain the tea as it was our first time there.
