The Reluctant Panther Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Fabulous dinner at a gem of a restaurant! This was our first visit to The Reluctant Panther and we were thrilled to discover that it is one of the best restaurants in Vermont! The food is fantastic and the ambiance outstanding - it's so cozy, with two fireplaces and wonderful holiday decorations. Friendly and attentive service. I had the sweet potato soup to start, and it was sublime. My husband had the seasonal salad and he really enjoyed it. For entrees, he had Venison Osso Bucco, which was excellent, and I had the Switchback Ale braised shortribs, which was fantastic. Very good wine list, and inspired desserts round out the experience. We had the yummy deconstructed carrot cake. The evening included several special touches, like an amuse bouche before the first course and chocolate truffles after dinner. Can't wait to go back!
We were there celebrating a birthday on gals weekend. All of us are foodies and can cook marvelousy. We found our dishes to be a bit average and in particular, my steak was below average. A bit too fatty and grisly texture for a rib eye. Overall, the atmosphere is nice and the cocktail list is creative. I would visit again and give it another try.
We went here for Thanksgiving dinner on our honeymoon and had a spectacular dinner. Everything was amazing! We are still talking about the meal and how perfect it was. From the moment we arrived we were greeted and met with hospitality. We were seated at the best table for two that looked out onto a pond and the service was impeccable. Everything was perfect down to the host putting my coat on as we headed out the door. We look forward to returning.
An all around Great Experience... This was our first visit to The Reluctant Panther Restaurant but we will definitely be back on our next trip to Manchester VT. There were four of us celebrating our friends birthday & we all had a great experience. The service was excellent!!! The food was outstanding!!! Compliments & Thanks to the Chef & the Staff for an incredible experience.
Best restaurant in the Manchester area! We live in a nearby town and therefore have reason to visit many, if not all, of the restaurants in Manchester and the surrounding towns. The Reluctant Panther is head and shoulders above them all. It offers the perfect combination of fantastic food, genial and competent service, in a beautiful, quiet setting. While other restaurants may compete on one dimension or another, none come close to attaining TRP's high standards across all three. The chef does a phenomenal job, creating delicious dishes using only the freshest local ingredients. The service was extremely professional, attentive, and knowledgable. The dining room is beautiful, with comfortable seating and tables that are spread out, so that the noise level is dampened. A great place for a five star dining experience!
The service was phenomenal. Hunter was knowledgeable about the menu, ingredients and any special modifications. The chef features a new seasonal menu which she premiered on the 18th with locally grown ingredients and a eye for detail. Enjoyed every minute.
It wasn't impressive. The table next to is was complaining about their meal the entire time, which definitely impacted our experience. The waiter also accidentally charged is for 2 glasses of whiskey, but we only had one. We just wanted to get out of the restaurant and the table next to us was causing such a fuss that we just decided to pay the bill and not bring it up.
We were welcomed outside the Hotel/restaurant and immediately made to feel welcome. We were early for our reservation and were made comfortable on the patio. Lovely meal, nice service in a beautiful setting. The cheese tray we had for dessert might have been a bit skimpy but the oysters, risotto and short ribs were all good.
If you have not visited the Reluctant Panther, you should. The food is amazing and the wait staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. The restaurant is quiet and is the perfect place for intimate, quiet conversation, a business dinner, or a friends' get-together. You will not be disappointed in any aspect of the food or service.
Menu, food and service was very good. But the place lacks warmth. No greeting, no management in sight. No personality. Unfortunately, our table was by a door leading to the deck so it was constantly opening and closing with continuous foot traffic. Spoiled the ambiance. We want to go back for the food but not sure if it's worth it.
We finally tried a restaurant we had heard about and we were not disappointed. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The dining area is spacious so you don't feel like other diners are on top of you. This allows for good, private conversation--which isn't always the case in a restaurant. The menu was not very extensive but I could have chosen several entrees that would have satisfied me. We had a nice view of an outside garden and pond and this was kind of an unexpected bonus. We would definitely dine there again.
$46 Filet tasted old and was not trimmed correctly, $43 lamb dish consisted of 3 - 6 in strips 3/4 in wide wrapped around stuffing and cous cous. We had been here several years ago when previous owners had it and it was outstanding. We were looking forward to this dinner, but were extremely disappointed.
Disappointing in that the halibut that was ordered was dry and the filet mignon($46)was rare rather than medium rare as requested. This was brought to the server's attention who gave an "oh well" shake of her shoulders followed by I'm sorry. She should have addressed this with the chef for consideration. Would not go back.
The Reluctant Panther has to be the best restaurant in the region. They are part of the VT fresh network, and it shows. Every single dish was an explosion of flavors. The chef buys her ingredients from local markets / vendors. The wine list is splendid and offers amazing value. Do not miss this restaurant!
My wife and I had dinner to celebrate my 60th birthday, it was a Monday night and they had just reopened following a spring clean. It looked nice from what we saw.
We had a drink at the bar and got chatting to some others there, then moved to our table which was by the window. They weren't too busy but is was a Monday night and in the 'closed' season for the area.
Our food was generally good, we started with Ravioli. For our main courses my wife had fish, can't remember if it was off the menu or a special and I had rabbit with pasta. Both dishes would of been good except they were both extremely salty to the extent neither of us could finish our dishes.
We did not have dessert and decided to go back to our hotel for a night cap.
It was our first time at this restaurant and they had just reopened after being closed for a month. Please don't take this review as a negative. We always believe in giving a place a second visit before totally making our minds up about it, so we shall visit again later in the year.
This was a top notch dining experience with food combinations I have never tried before as in Lobster Fondue. The venison - which I'm always hesitant to order, because it's usually dry, was prepared perfectly and the deserts were truly original and worth abandoning my low car regime. Our waitress was fun, engaging and helped us navigate the menu which made our experience even more special.
