The Dover sole is incredible! Ambiance is one of a kind in Columbus with the historical feel
The Refectory is culinary art. Our experience was simply exceptional. Every course, every bite, every minute. This is the definition of fine dining! Kamal and his seasoned and well-trained team have something so special in this place. I can’t find enough adjectives to heap the praise on this establishment. Thank you for a perfect evening!
Second to none in Columbus, Ohio
Always a good meal and great service. We will soon be back...
Simply the best dining experience in Columbus, year after year.
The ambiance, service, and food surpass even the finest French restaurants my son visited while in Paris a year ago. We especially love the foie gras and duck breast on the menu. We had mixed views about the pumpkin soup. It was heavy on spices, particularly curry, and overshadowed any actual pumpkin flavor.
When you want a really different experience complete with atmosphere and outstanding service I'd highly recommend The Refectory.
Our experience at the Refectory lived up to their reputation! We've heard nothing but great things, and we had an excellent time for our first time there. The service was outstanding. We typically don't go to super fancy restaurants, so this was a real treat. Highly recommend the sea scallops which were the best I've ever had. Everything was cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor! Can't wait to go back to celebrate another special occasion.
Perfect birthday celebration. Thank you!
INCREDIBLE. We were celebrating a night with friends and it could not have been a better experience! We love coming here, the service is amazing, the food is unforgettable. Don’t look anywhere else!!
Excellent food. Excellent service.
Eden and Chris were great! Food was excellent and even on a very busy Friday everything was running very smoothly! Wine service was impeccable as always.
Great experience, as expected!
This was a last minute date night dinner and was such a delicious experience! We even bought more wine on our way out. Perfect every time!
Kamal and his team are outstanding. In my opinion the Refectory is one of the 2 best restaurants in Columbus. Been dining there for many years and it has been consistently top notch
Service a little stuffy. Worst Dover sole ever. Party of 4. Everything else excellent
Another wonderful meal at The Refectory! Our friends and we were celebrating their 25th and our 36th anniversaries and they had Happy Anniversary cards on our table noting the years and our names. Such a nice touch!
We have been going to the Refectory for years and they continue to surpass our expectations on every visit. Creativity, service, quality of food are not surpassed by any restaurant in Columbus. Truly an amazing experience as always. Thanks to Kam, Richard and team for always making us feel welcome and special on every visit.
I would not normally choose french cuisine, but this came highly recommended so we went and were NOT disappointed. Food was excellent as was the service.
Well what can I say except excellence par none! An outstanding meal of baby rack of lamb and Mediterranean bronzing en papillote, preceded by a soothing mussel soup and an arugula salad with smoked blue cheese. This place is a Columbus treasure and the chef and staff enhance and reward you with a memorable dining experience.
Always a pleasure to dine here. Constantly consistent continental cuisine.
We had an amazing time dining here during a long road trip across the country. The owner is so attentive, he wrote a “Bon Voyage” card and made sure we were well taken care of from beginning to end. The service was honestly the best I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant and the food was delicious. I particularly loved the mussel soup and the skate wing with fois gras. Don’t miss the crème brûlée for desset! The cocktails are also amazing and unique. The decor and ambiance are unparalleled and the history of the place is so unique. If we ever visit Columbus again we will be sure to come here!!
This is a truly stellar place! What a fabulous meal. The kitchen here is loaded with talented chefs. It is easy to tell that the pastry chef has worked for Paul Bocuse!
Kamal and team always impress us! Wonderful meal!!
This was our first time here and we were celebrating my wife's birthday. We did a chef's choice dinner and wine pairing. While I was a little apprehensive not knowing what we would be served, I was also looking forward to trying some new things I may not have otherwise ordered on my own. Every single dish and wine pairing we were presented with were outstanding!!! The entire experience from the host to the servers to our wine and food were amazing. I can't recommend this restaurant enough and we are eagerly looking forward to returning with family to share the experience with them.
Great atmosphere, excellent food and service. Restaurant remains among our favorites.
The food was OK the service was OK unfortunately for the price point there was nothing there that Wowed us that would make us want to recommend it to a friend
Excellent celebration! Joseph was superb!
The Refectory is a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion. When I made the reservation I wrote that it was for a (named) friend's birthday. When we arrived there was a specially printed card for her on the table and she felt very special. The service was impeccable. We like to eat dinner early, so made a reservation for 5:00 pm and ordered from the fixed-price Bistro menu. At that time of day the room was not packed and sound level was low. The Bistro menu included two options for each of three courses. We were delighted with our choices. Each dish was perfection. We were seated in front of a beautiful stained-glass window near the fireplace and the photos of the occasion turned out beautifully. Why wait for a special occasion? We plan on going back again soon.
Best experience at a restaurant yet! Planning to go back many times!
The food was suburb, excellent staff, nice atmosphere. One of the best restaurants out there. The wine was a bit pricey but everything else was fantastic.
This experience was outstanding, and the food was superb. The staff, particularly our Waiters Steve and John, were amazing; they were very friendly, and ever present but non intrusive. We were celebrating my daughter's 21st birthday, and a memory was definitely made! The only thing that kept this from being a perfect dining experience was the din of the dining room; it was a little loud, and at times it made it difficult for us to hear the waiter as he was recommending wines or offering explanations on the plates. Overall, I highly recommend this excellent restaurant for special occasions!
Overall, excellent quality, value and service. Noise level due to other activities on the high side. Our favorite Columbus Restaurant.
The food and service is simply fantastic. We will go there many times again!
Excellent! From the food to the service! Not to mention, they have the most wonderful wine list! If it’s in season, don’t pass on the butternut squash soup, I dream about that soup!
The experience was amazing and the food exquisite. I have shared our great outing with our friends on Facebook.
Kamala and the entire staff assisted with a wedding proposal and I can’t thank them enough for their help!
Always our go-to restaurant when we want something special, a cut above the rest. Wonderful food, service and ambiance. We ordered from the special menu (dine originals, I think it was called), and it was an exceptional value with no sacrifice of quality or quantity.
We were very disappointed with this experience. First we were seated in front of an air conditioning vent that they had to cover with a table cloth so it wouldn't blow in our faces. Then waited an hour after ordering our dinner. THEN the scallops (2 out of 3 dishes) were undercooked and cold, not even seared on both sides. At a place like this you expect so much more.
The food was great. Our waitress was great. The sommelier was borderline rude. He seemed knowledgeable but really did not present as you would expect from a place that claims to be all about great wine. He simply gave minimal answers to questions with no enthusiasm at all... Yes, they do have a nice wine selection but the prices are over inflated. The bottle of wine we had would normally be about $80 at other nice restaurants. It was $100 at the Refectory. We noticed several other familiar wines on their list with similarly inflated prices. One more thing... the bench seats were uncomfortable. I understand the 'old church' theme, but something needs to be done about those seats. By the end of the meal we both had lower back pain. I will repeat... Yes, the food was very good.
There is a reason that The Refectory has been one of the top restaurants in Columbus for years. For a special meal in a special environment, there is no better place. The food and service are excellent.
