My wife and I were seated right away when we arrived. The service was outstanding and the food was fantastic. It was Friday night and there was a band in the next room playing a little loud which made it somewhat difficult to converse. However, overall it was a great evening. We will definitely return and we would highly recommend them.
The atmosphere, location, food, and service were all wonderful.
Nice buffet but not well maintained. Ie ran out of cocktail sauce for seafood presentation
Sliced beef not immediately available at 1:30 at Sunday Brunch. Wait staff was good. Nice view with outdoor dining
Not quite as good as previous visits. Brunch nice but not exceptional. Service OK but we were not advised thar eggs/omelettes were available on request. The decor now sparse and missing the carvings.
The food and service were excellent! The only problem was we couldn’t see the beach at night. It was very dark. We wanted to enjoy dinner on the beach where we could see and/or hear the beach waves. It would have been more romantic.
Great food. Enjoyed the ocean view. They were very busy but didn’t seem to affect the quality of the food.
Wonderful food and the view is to die for! The service was great also.
Thanks to the suggestions of our knowledgeable and helpful server Chloe, and taking advantage of the Reef's Happy Hour prices, we focused on the small plates offered by the chef and chose quite a wide variety to share with our cocktail/wine while enjoying the surf side view. Chloe also enticed us to share the Chef's special dessert, a chocolate banana cake...a yummy finish to our evening. Delightful on all counts!
We had great fresh food, awesome service, and wonderful handcrafted cocktails. We went during happy hour and it was quiet, peaceful, and a beautiful view.
Service and view were great
Good service and very good food. A go to place when you want a fine quality meal.
Our family frequents the Reef a number of times a year. This is my daughter -in - laws favorite restaurant to go to. We took her for dinner for her birthday and as usual the food and the service were excellent!
Service was good, but a little slow. We' had a party of six and all enjoyed their lunch. We all especially liked the great atmosphere and the beautiful ocean views.
had the salmon.....perhaps best i have ever had! Service was excellent.
It was very easy reserving a table and we didn’t have to wait. We had a beautiful view and a great table. I don’t think there is a bad table in the restaurant. We had a wonderful server, Matt. The food came quickly and was hot. We enjoyed our dinner!
Fabulous view. Food was good but the view of the ocean and sunset was awesome.
Lovely evening celebrating our 50 wedding anniversary. Sadly, a large group of ladies came in and were quite loud! This, however, didn't ruin our meal. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgable of the menu. Even though she warned me that the shrimp and grits were very hot due to the Datil peppers, I still ordered them! Oh wow, was she correct. Although delicious, I won't be ordering this next time! If you like hot, go for it. We will be back!
Nice change from the gastro pub heavy old town area. And they are generally good too.
We went there for my wife’s birthday. We were looking for a nice seafood restaurant. The food was delicious and the views of the waves crashing were spectacular. We could not have planned a better place.
For such a beautiful location, I had high expectations. I was told they only had medium and up for their prime rib so I ordered medium. It came out medium/well. My partner ordered filet mignon, rare. It came out nearly medium. This tells me that whoever they jad cooking, in this beautiful establishment, didn’t know what they were doing.
This is a consistently very good restaurant. Our favorite server was there for us (Laura) and the fresh seafood never disappoints.
Food was good but for the money, the portions were small. Waiter was fine.
The Reef is about 10-15 minutes from downtown St. Augustine, amidst beach houses along A1A. The parking lot was full, so clearly a popular hangout. We were seated at a window overlooking the beach...the shore is very close in so it was a great view once the moon came out. Service was friendly and prompt. My husband and I shared the oyster appetizer, which was very good. Spicy. I had the mahi-mahi with clams (so small they were not identifiable, I had to check the menu) and chopped scallops in a light cream sauce. The mahi-mahi was a small portion, and over cooked. The veggie and potato sides were good. My husband ordered the caprese grouper with roasted tomatoes, basil and mozzarella. It was well executed. The grits side was good...good texture.
Bottom line was that the food was nothing special, and kind of pricey under the circumstances. That said, we found that a lot of the restaurants in town lacked the wow factor.
Food was really good, especially the appetizers with wine. The atmosphere and the service
was great. We had an excellent evening.
Buffet was overpriced; place was so loud you couldn't have a conversation.
We were seated right at reservation time. Waitress brought sweet instead of regular tea and wrong wine though corrected that. Didn’t bring bread though every other table had it, and once we asked didn’t actually offer to go bring bread till appetizers were gone and entrees were about to come. Different staff brought entrees and we did not see her till entrees were essentially done. Food was quite good so I guess we got unlucky on wait staff assigned to us
Great, food, waiter, drinks, view
The location and view of the sunset were great. The food and service made for an excellent enjoyable meal. Highly recommend.
Thanks, enjoyed celebrating my moms birthday.
The food was outstanding, and our server was very nice, buy she was working both ends of the restaurant and we had a bit of a wait for desert and the bill. I would definitely go again though. Right on the beach with lovely big windows!
Award winning food, indoor and outdoor seating Oceanside and excellent wine prices!! Waiter was attentive and managed dropped by to check on our meal.
Service was not as good as usual. We waited a while before anyone came over. We got our salads before our first drinks arrived. Drink order was wrong for one person.
Waitress was busy but not good. She tried to make excuses for her business instead of just apologize and ask for help.
2nd time for brunch. Both times had great selections. Waffles could have been a little more crisp/flakey on outside and true Mini Belgian style to be ‘perfect’. Always love the hibiscus that comes with brunch, grits are fabulous, Alaskan crab legs made wonderfully. Not enough time or stomach to eat as much as I would have liked. Great view as always. Definitely will continue to go and a great spot to brunch with the girlfriends or significant other.
The food was awesome! The sunflower molasses bread is TO DIE FOR! And the service was great. We will be back very soon!
Loved the reef food was outstanding and outdoor seating on the beach was amazing. Will be back soon for the great happy hour and will bring my dog as dogs are allowed on the "dog deck". The reef I highly recommend it.
Hostess with an attitude, poor quality food, lackluster presentation, expensive. Our server, Christine ,I think, was the only bright spot. It was dark so maybe the view would make up for the poor quality. Maybe get a drink here if it is light and eat somewhere else.
Wife and I had valentines dinner at 5:45pm and had gotten there early(30 mins) was seated immediately!
Service was started when we were seated and our server,Jeffey was observant of my special needs on my order and our food came out as ordered.
He was very timely with our drinks and appetizer before our entree.
All and all and being valentines day as well, our short scenic drive down A1A from Jacksonville and away from just trying to find a parking and then waiting to be seated made our “Date” very special!
Thanks to The Reef and it’s staff!
Went to The Reef for Valentine’s Day. Won’t be going back anytime soon. Both of our entrees arrived cold - including all the sides. While they offered to offer some compensation on one of our meals, I would have preferred them getting our food right the first time and both of our meals arriving at the same time. Too bad, because it could have been a great evening.
Absolutely wonderful Valentine's dinner !
Everything was marvelous...the meal, the service, & the ambiance. I had the Lobster Risoto which was so delicious & my husband had the Grouper special..both fantastic! Dessert was yummy too!! I highly recommended the Reef for fine dining!
