The Red Fox Inn & Tavern
All fine food deserves to be accompanied by a perfectly suited refreshment. We showcase a vast selection of local beverages that pay homage to our extraordinary location afoot the rolling hills of Virginia’s wine country.
From intimate dinners in The Tavern to casual gatherings in The Night Fox Pub, each culinary experience is paired with a unique atmosphere and polished attendance prevails from beginning to end.

Unbelievable experience! Put the Duck Wontons at the top of your list! The fantastic experience with the food was only exceeded by the outstanding service and the live music on the patio was excellent too!
Excellent service, waiter and dinner....oh delicious dessert too! The lamb chops were cooked as ordered and very tender and juicy. Also the peach & blueberry cobbler was great! Will definitely be back.
We arrived for our 7:30 dinner reservation and were shown to a table on the back terrace. After waiting more than 15minutes, we were finally greeted by a server. He returned after another 10 minutes and took our drink order. My friend has dietary restrictions and inquired about gluten- and egg-free options- the server didn’t have a clue, and had to go to the kitchen to ask. Still, no drinks at this point. He returned with partial answers and responses like “uhh, I think that’s egg free?”...which did not inspire confidence. We ordered an appetizer (decent shrimp cocktail), finished our drinks and left. I expected a lot more from such a pricey and typically highly-rated place. I enjoyed a lovely dinner here several years ago with my husband and raved about it to my friends- and was terribly embarrassed by the poor service we experienced at this visit.
Great food across the board!
Food was mediocre. We ate there for the convenience of it being connected to the inn. Probably won’t eat there again.
4th time hare for dinner and never disappointed! Food is consistently good and worth it! Yum! Great atmosphere, great service and great food! Highly recommend!
Wonderful service and food!!
The Red Fox Inn is a must go to place when visiting Middleburg because of the history behind the facility. It's the only upscale restaurant in Middleburg and has a classy atmosphere. Food is delicious and the service is 5 star. We enjoyed the duck wontons and the scallops special. Price was very reasonable for the quality of food and service.
Excellent brunch - the fried chicken is fabulous and the crab cake excellent!
Lauren, our server, was fabulous! The food was hot and fresh.
Great as always and friends who have stayed there said food excellent!
Amazing service. Great wine selection. Food is outstanding!!!
We had not dined at Red Fox for many years. We were pleasantly surprised by the food, drink and good service. The date salad was delicious and the scallops were seared perfectly. The only negative comment, which is small, is that I had made the reservation as a b-day. The hostess recognized that as I had asked for a candle to be served with dessert. No candle decorated the dessert. It was a delightful evening and we had a very nice time. We will be back. Thank you!
The entire dining experience was fantastic! The food was delicious with large portions, our server, Sarah, was so sweet and attentive, and the entire staff was professional and courteous. This was our first time at Red Fox Inn and certainly will NOT be our last.
Father’s Day. Very good and excellent food
Food was delicious, service was good. My only complaint was how the restaurant was so dark inside. I have been numerous times and have never see it so dark.
The service and food were incredible as usual!
Delightful experience! Wonderful ambience and great food!
The food was amazing as always. Our server was super attentive and very helpful. We had a great time!
Hi it was great
Doesn't get much better than this for Ambience , food , and service. U pay a little more but it's well worth it. I hope to go back many times!
As always, a spectacular dinner in a small horse and wine country town we just love. Food was great tasting and well presented. Staff was attentive but not hovering. Very professional and as conversational as we desired. Red Fox is always a hit.
Excellent meal in a quaint and historic setting. My husband loved the duck, and my halibut special was superb. Will be back!
I have gone there for 9 years. Usual with my wife who has passed away. A very special place
The food and service were excellent, and there was a lot of food given. The only concerns are its location in Middleburg (can be a drive depending on where you are) and it is somewhat pricey. It is worth it however for special occasions.
Another great outing. We were there for my daughters graduation. Staff was awesome and food as usual was great
Great Old Fashions with rye. Beef tip were tender and a lot of flavor
First time there. Food was wonderful. Prices were okay. Services very good.
We loved it! The history and atmosphere were both amazing. If you love special and unique, and you want a one-of-a-kind experience, this is the right spot.
A friend and I were in town for a girl's weekend. We stumbled across the option of a 3 course bunch, and I could not have been more impressed. The service was great considering we snagged the last time spot before they closed before dinner. The prices were amazing for the quality of food we received. Oh and the food! I started with the goat cheese salad which was fresh and refreshing. My favorite thing above all was the shrimp and grits. Rich with perfectly cooked shrimp. Desserts were decadent; we'd recommend the salted caramel cake, which kept us going back for more despite being stuffed!
I would totally travel back for another bite at this place. A+
Great food, great service....we also stayed at the Inn. All around great customer service. Plan to stay and dine again. Would recommend to all.
Baked Brie was delicious. Our entrees salmon and duck were perfectly cooked and flavorful. Dessert, carrot cake was very good.
Lovely experience overall. I loved my beet salad and duck. One food star deducted because both dining companions disliked their side dishes (Brussels sprouts with the cordon bleu, zucchini with the crab cakes).
The food was amazing as always. My husband loves the shortribs, and the crab cakes are consistently delicious. The prices seems to go up every time we go (especially on the beef dishes), but the food is consistent and the setting is historical and quaint.
I first did Mother’s Day brunch here with my family. I was pleasantly surprised that my husband picked out such a great restaurant for mother’s Day. We do a lot of tasting menus/fancy restaurants and for the price this one fits in nicely with our routine when we want to be more laid back. The food is really great and the atmosphere feels more like a little get away. I loved it so much I brought my girlfriends out here a couple weeks later and they enjoyed it as well.
Country Inn restaurant serving outstanding food for the area.
Cream of asparagus soup and roasted beet salad and pear salad were terrific starters.
The chicken cordon bleu was too much presented with the brussel sprout leaves and pancetta and mashed potatoes. The bourbon glazed salmon over grits was exceptional.
Special desserts complimented the wonderful dinner. We will return.
I honestly don’t know why people make such a big deal
over this over-worked - over-designed - over-fussy “food” - makes zero sense to me.
I have yet to be disappointed when visiting Red Fox Inn. The food and service are always good.
