The Red Feather
Had family visiting for my graduation and we wanted to go out for a nice dinner. We took them to Red Feather because the food is always delicious. I now feel awful that I took my family there. The whole restaurant reeked of smoke, so much so that we immediately had to shower and wash our clothes when we got home. The food took entirely too long. Our reservation was at 6:45 and we finished eating entrees at 9:00pm. Would have loved dessert but we were so tired of being in the smoke filled room and tired of waiting, that we decided it would be better to just leave. It will be a while before I ever go back to Red Feather.
The food was outstanding. We highly recommend the asparagus soup and beets as appetizers. The steak Frites and the pork chop were excellent choices recommended by the server. The drinks were well made and the desserts were an end to a perfect meal.
Our only negative was an extremely smoky burnt like odor when we arrived. It lasted for a long time and was noticeably annoying. In fact when we got home we immediately put our clothes in the wash to get the smell out of them. We don’t know if that was a one time unforeseeable event but if it wasn’t a change should be made and additional venting installed.
first off, the lamb chop was top notch... and that was about it.. lamb arrived room temperature ( it was cooked correctly though ) Chicken skin app was about a 3.. place was about 1/2 full and they still sat us right next to another table. Server was pleasant, very strong smell of cooking in the place.. didn't mind it when we were there but when we left there was a very strong smell of it on our clothes.. not a huge deal but better venting would help. The prices are high.
We had reservations for 2:15 on Mother's Day. Upon arriving, we were told there were no more biscuits available (which is kind of why we came to Red Feather in the first place). We were told 150 biscuits were made...which seems like a small number for a holiday.
Lovely space for brunch or dinner ; upstairs area great for a group!
Had a party of five for Mother’s Day breakfast- really great food and service.
This was our second time at the red feather, and our first experience for brunch. We had heard raving reviews for their brunch so decided we should give it a try. Unfortunately, we weren't impressed. We had a reservation for 11:15am and arrived at 11:05. We were told we would have to wait 15 minutes to be seated even though they had just opened their doors. Easier said than done when you have a three year old and three month old in tow. The biscuits served were burnt, and the poutine was so overly cheesy it was essentially a giant bowl of cheese. Overpriced for the quality of food that was served. The restaurant is lovely and has a great atmosphere, but again, the food was less than desirable. I don't think we will be returning.
our go to for Mothers Day. Great brunch options and a great atmosphere.
I have loved this place for years but signs of the back office being stretched too thin is obvious by a totally out-dated wine list that the vintage noted was always incorrect. The service was also slow and only being allowed to put in our order for appetizers until we were ready for every dish for he night didn’t work as our server wasn’t too available and delays food. Food was good to great when we got it, but chicken was a bit over cooked, though local spring veggies made it good. Very inventive menu with local ingredients and fun lively buzz will have us trying again but might try for a week night when service is better.
Delicious as usual.
While the food was good the restaurant thinks too much of itself and is over-priced, tables crowded together, and server seemed uninterested in actually serving us . We won’t go back. Cincinnati has too many excellent restaurants to be bothered with this one.
And to top it off the air conditioner nag was running full blast even though it was a chilly, gray 58 degrees outside.
I do not write negative restaurant reviews because I feel the business is very difficult and any restaurant can have a bad night. The reason I am writing this one is because this experience has happened to me the last 3 times I have dined here- and there will not be a 4th. The service was absolutely inexcusable- horrible! We sat over an hour and a half AFTER ORDERING OUR DINNER awaiting our meal. 3 of the 4 of us ordered the same fish- which takes 3 minutes per side to cook. The other dinner was also a fish so it took about the same amount of time. We complained- were brought a mini cup of soup - and continued to wait and wait! By the time we were served- we were in a bad mood and the dinner was ruined. They provided dessert gratis- but it was too little too late. We just wanted a nice dinner together without such a frustrating experience. Never again.
Molly was excellent. Will come back for her alone. Food was excellent as always.
I have yet to have a bad or even a mediocre experience at this restaurant. They are highly professional from the moment you arrive until you leave - the servers, the food all top notch. I would highly recommend - especially for any special occasions. Do not expect "fast food", though - this is the real deal!
For a relaxing Sunday brunch there is no better place than Red Feather. The food is cooked to order and so is always fresh, the staff are very pleasant and it is also very good value. Do book early not to be disappointed.
Loved the Bloody Mary bar! Complimentary beignets were delicious. My only complaint is that my English muffin for my eggs Benedict was too done for me and the table we were sitting was ver close to another table. And that woman wanted to have a conversation with a woman at a table behind us. That wasn’t the restaurants fault, just a goofy lady. But, overall I really enjoyed it and will definitely be back.
The food wasn’t up to par in one of our diners case. Poached eggs were way overdone (hard yolk) and fish over cooked and dry. The manager apologized and removed from our bill, which was the right thing to do and appreciated. Sadly it was our honorees meal and it put a bit of a pox on the celebration. Service was good and it’s a gem of an atmosphere.
Food and service are adequate. Location is great. I want to be wowed but every time I go to Red Feather I am surprised at how it is only adequate and I am paying a fortune for only ok.
Of the four of us I was the only one who had a not so good experience with one item of food. The ARANCINI, a small plate was advertised as a small plate with chorizo and lobster. What came out was what looked like a hush puppy and tasted like a hush puppy somewhat darkened on the outside and filled with rice on the inside. It was a very starchy dish, somewhat burnt and little to no taste of chorizo or lobster. Having said this everyone else at my table thought their dinner was wonderful and would love to come back. Our waitress was wonderful and extremely attentive to our every need. I have been to the red feather a number of times and I’ve always had great meals before.
First timers and was very pleased! We had a 7:30pm reservation and did not leave until close to 10pm (this is not normal). The kitchen was very backed up, but the chef/server communicated thoroughly and served us complimentary Asparagus Soup (which was amazing!). To me, this was super important and is what makes me want to come back (besides the awesome food). Quality service from entire staff. It was also nice to sit, relax, have some wine/beer, and great discussion with a loved one during the wait..allowed time to slow down for a bit. Food: oysters, beet salad, lamb, crispy salmon, fresh bread, and creme brûlée....oh my tastebuds are thankful! We left full, happy, and eager to bring our friends/family along next time. Thank you.
Red Feather was one of the BEST meals we have ever experienced! The food and service were spectacular!
We had a great date at Red Feather. All the food was prepared perfectly. They really worked with us through some allergy concerns as well and since everything to cooked to order they were able to make some changes for us. I loved the restaurant as well. It was not a cookie cutter interior. I will definitely return to Red Feather.
The menu appears to be relatively straightforward but they have a nice seasonal twist too many of the items. Very disappointed that it's difficult to eat vegetarian or vegan there. The food was good, beautifully plated but not great or memorable.
Waiter made it clear we were taking too long to order entree. Felt a little pressured.
Girls night at this amazing farm to table restaurant in Oakley, OH. Amazing food and fun environment! We will be back. Pork Chop was amazing and Halibut was awesome!!!!
Lovely ambience. Great appetizers. $44. Halibut dish, dried out. Husbands pork chop, delicious. Service poor. Dessert fair.
Those biscuits are perfect! Every dish was delicious. Highly recommended.
Simply amazing -- from the food to the service to the ambiance! Can't pick a favorite dish because they were all delicious in their own unique way. Thank you Chef Brad and everyone at Red Feather.
We’ve enjoyed quite a few excellent meals here. Last Saturday, however, the kitchen moved at a glacially slow pace taking at least 30 minutes for the entrees to arrive AFTER the starters were cleared. Very puzzling and disappointing with no explanation
Great service! Food was excellent, just a bit pricey for portion size.
We really enjoyed the food at Red Feather and feel that a very high quality product is being served. However, we were like to see more mid-range entrees. It seems as though prices for entrees are either below $20 or above $30.
You have to figure out the smoke issue. We feel and smell like we were smoking meat or at a bonfire when we came home. Our clothes and hair smelled awful. We won’t be back until that is resolved
We come here for all of our date night special occasions-it’s absolutely amazing. Great staff, delicious food, romantic ambiance
Red Feather never disappoints!! Great service and delicious food!! Love this restaurant!
food and service was great. All the home cooked food and drinks were some of the best around.
We had great time. The service was excellent, food delicious, comfortable atmosphere. I’d definitely come back!
Great dinner with children and adult grandchildren.
Most from out of town. They all loved Red Feather!
We do too.
We were greeted and seated promptly. Our waiter, John was friendly and professional and not at all over-bearing.....great combo for a server.
The whipped ricotta was amazing. We all had fish. The scallops and salmon were both well prepared.
This was our 3rd visit to Red Feather and probably the last time we’ll go. Our first visit was 3 years ago and we only make it back to Cincinnati once a year but the experience previously at Red Feather made it a must visit place for us. The food this time was not very good, horribly salty falafel, a charred steak, and over cooked, burnt jambalaya were anything but what we expected. To top it all off, the service was awful. The waiter spilled water on me and the table and did not immediately apologize or make any move to clean it up...I ended up mopping up myself and the table with my napkin, which was not replaced at any point. My drink was left empty and I was not asked if I wanted anything else. I really am sad that this place has changed so much.
Outstanding customer service! The food was exceptional. I will definitely be back for brunch!
