The Rattlesnake Club Ratings and Reviews
I was really expecting more. The interior of the restaurant is nothing special, at all. Had you not seen the prices, you'd assume the average entree' cost is $14. The food was way over priced and way under portioned. The food wasn't bad at all, but definitely not worth the price. It was pretty loud, with no intimate settings at all, all the chairs and tables and booths face each other. The waiter was nice but thats about it. This was an alright place to try but I don't expect to be returning.
I was very disappointed that a restaurant would run out of rib eye steaks at 8:00 pm on a Saturday on Sweetest day and to top it off our waiter was rude because we expressed our displeasure. Service was very slow. The manager did offer us appetizers and desserts it was my birthday and I was really bummed about the whole experience. The rattlesnake ain’t what it used to be . Our server is in the wrong job he does not have temperament or professionalism for customer service work. Needs more training .
We used to love the Rattlesnake. We got engaged there 13 years ago. It is not the same. Jimmy Schmitt sold it and you can tell. Servers no longer wear tuxes. The elegance is gone and so is the quality of the food. Our meal was good but not great. Our calamari appetizer was fishy tasting and we told the waiter. He took them away but not off the bill. People around us were dressed in sweats with their underwear hanging out. It was disappointing, especially when you're spending the same Rattlesnake prices. We probably won't be back.
The Rattlesnake Club has a wonderful heritage of top-shelf dining. We got in early on a quiet Saturday night. The wine selection was reasonable as were the cocktails. There is a local emphasis on the menu and we enjoyed the appetizer cheese selection. My wife and I both had steaks - properly prepared medium rare - and I added shrimp. Nicely spiced without taking away from the character of the shrimp.
We passed on dessert. Coffee was great. Rebecca, our server, was very attentive and her support team brought out dishes which were hot and flavorful.
It was a nice dinner. When you are going to spend $250+, you should have high expectations. The Rattlesnake club met those expectations for us.
The "Snake" is old school good. It is great for conversation and great for special occasions. They have a fantabulous patio with a view of the Detroit River. The food is consistently outstanding. The staff works very hard to make their guests happy. If you're looking for trendy, don't go. If you're looking for a wonderful dining experience, this is it!
We've been dining at the Rattlesnake off and on for years and unfortunately this was one of the most disappointing experiences I've had in a restaurant known for fine dining. The quality of service and food has just deteriorated over time. With all the new restaurants opening in Detroit the Rattlesnake needs to step up their game or they will be left in the wake of the competition. We won't be back; just too many other options for good food, service and ambiance.
My friend and I were greeted and seated respectfully. The service was fair. The Salmon was great. It appeared to us that the waitress stereotyped us as we searched for wine and champagne. She kept steering us to the cheaper selections. Granted it was just the two of us but we knew where we were and expected to pay for quality. My friend and I kept our composure, ordered what we wanted and tipped to let her know "we"are better than her prejudices. It's possible the waitress didn't know she was discriminatory.
A perfect evening. The food was excellent - we had the filet and the ahi tuna special, along with the charcuterie platter for an app....mmmm the froi gras was so good and the whitefish pate was to die for! The patio was delightful with a wedding taking place in the courtyard just as we were seated. The staff were so warm and friendly from the valet and hostess to the server and help - they celebrated Roger's milestone birthday with a complimentary piece of their flourless chocolate cake (so good!) and Happy Birthday written on the plate in chocolate! We didn't stop there - we loved the rock n rye creme brûlée with the crunchy caramel pyramid! Topped off with French press coffee brewed at the table! A night we won't soon forget! Thank you!
Service was slow, as there were only about 2 wait staff on the floor. Our waiter was more occupied with the two tables of 6 and 7 guest respectively (as the restaurant puts on a 21% gratuity for parties of 6 or more). Waiter could not get my wife's drink order correct due to his preoccupation with other tables.
Food was not the best at all, as I have eaten at restaurants which are more favorable to taste pallet.
The price was reasonable, but I would not recommend to anyone I know this restaurant, as it was a less than sublime experience. These factors above are why they received the rating which they did.
Food was a disappointment for a place of this Calibre. There was nothing wrong but nothing to delight either. The fish was cooked just right but the accompanying sides and dressing we're quite haphazard. Seating could have been more comfortable too, the table was a bit too low for my taste making the dining experience a bit uncomfortable for me. Service was however the best part of the experience - service staff is good.
Chose the Rattlesnake club to celebrate a special occasion and satisfied with our choice. Ordered the lamb and steak entrees. We enjoyed both, only suggestion would be to add a topping for the lamb as it needed a little something more. View was spectacular out on the patio
As expected, the Rattlesnake continues a stellar history of fine dining. Chef Frantz's creative spins on commonly seen menu items like burrata (his features grilled figs and pignoli) and gazpacho (lump crab & an herbed crema) keeps the seasonally changing bill of fare vibrant & the service is attentive & gracious. You could not do better on a nice summer's evening than the patio @ the 'Snake.
The restaurant is lovely - we had a perfect table- everything was great! Our server was great but as it got more busy it was clear he had more tables to attend to and had to farm out the rest of our service (dessert menus/bill) but still the staff was all very professional and kind.
