Sun Valley’s original restaurant, The Ram has been warming and welcoming diners since 1937. This rustic-yet-elegant dinner house has been recently modernized, while still preserving its historic charm. Pianist Larry Harshbarger brings a classic ambiance to the room with gentle melodies played on our resident baby grand piano. Travel back in time with the nightly “Heritage Menu”—a series of historic dishes such as pork tenderloin schnitzel, Hungarian goulash, and the famous Ram fondue—resurrected from the restaurant’s long and storied culinary tradition.

A credit card is required to hold your reservation. Should your plans change, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance. Last minute cancellations and no shows may be charged $25 per person.

Holiday reservations are not available online, but can be made by calling our guest center at 208.622.2800.

Absolutely an awesome restaurant. Not easy to find. Google Maps does not take you to the right location. You have to park and walk. Beautiful walk and property. Great service and food!

Our guests loved their dinner. Pork Chop was selected by three of the five guest and salmon by the other two. All were excellent. Salads and procuitto with melon to start were very fresh and well plated. Dessert was a selection and all were perfect. Service was impecable. My reference point for all of this is the simple fact that my wife and I first dined at The Ram 47 years ago and we are still dining there one or more times every time we visit Sun Valley. It's just the best!

Our server, Sarah Fox was superb and kept us informed and happy. The meal was ok but the trout, although fresh and tasty, was a bit over salted and the potatoes were way undercooked. The cappuccinos were more like lattes and the sticky toffee pudding was forgettable. Michelle the manager was super friendly and professional and the ambiance and piano playing were fun and old world feeling. For the price the food needs to be better, especially since it’s part of a world class resort.

Visited with friends from England for my wife’s birthday. Tenderloin and goulash were delicious and report was the chicken was delicious, too. Lisa did a great job for us! The piano music added to the lovely patio atmosphere.

The scallops were excellent as was the beautiful potato. I was surprised that it came as a small plate and didn’t seem like a dinner entree. Lovely ambiance with the iconic Inn and grounds. The service was excellent!

It has been years since we had dinner at the Ram restaurant. It is obvious there is a nee manager and a nee chef. The dinner was delicious, our waitress Paula from Romania was top notch! The outdoor dining area is second to none. I had the beet/apple tart for a starter and the idaho trout for an entree. Delicious! My friend and husband both had the pork chop which they raved about. Definitely worth the trip and highly recommended!! Susie P

The outdoor seating is lovely and the service was wonderful. We ordered the Fondue, which is a wonderful starter. The bread came out hot which was lovely. We ordered pork chop, salmon, and trout. The pork chop was way overcooked and was tough to chew. It sat on a bed of lukewarm mashed potatoes. I would give this dish a "C". The salmon and trout were better options as both were cooked nicely and the vegetables were hot. I would say the salmon piece was just a tad bit small for the price but all in all, it was good. So would I recommend coming here, probably yes for the experience but do not expect a top-notch meal.

What a poorly run restaurant! We were on time, our table was 30 minutes late. The Friday dinner special was sold out. Our meals were OK. Our dessert consisted of a very small itty-bitty scoop of lemon sorbet garnished with blueberries cut in half (?) and a couple shards of other fruit. Totally disappointing! And we had such high hopes! The best part of our experience was running into friends and the bustle of guests.

The service was prompt and very courteous. Our cocktails were made perfectly. We did have to send a salad back to be remade, but it was remade perfectly and quickly. We had a wonderful evening overall. Highly recommended!

Appetizers were all amazing. I had the pork chop and that seemed to be the favorite around the table. Desserts were also superb. Try to get a seat on the patio so you can look at the pond. The piano player really added to the ambiance.

Diners beware of banquet tables that block the view, the path of the wait staff, and possible noise levels before you except a table. Recommend that you check your order for accuracy when it arrives. And by the way if you want bread before the meal is over, make the request known, So sad that diners must look out for themselves.
