About

Sun Valley’s original restaurant, The Ram has been warming and welcoming diners since 1937. This rustic-yet-elegant dinner house has been recently modernized, while still preserving its historic charm. Pianist Larry Harshbarger brings a classic ambiance to the room with gentle melodies played on our resident baby grand piano. Travel back in time with the nightly “Heritage Menu”—a series of historic dishes such as pork tenderloin schnitzel, Hungarian goulash, and the famous Ram fondue—resurrected from the restaurant’s long and storied culinary tradition. Nearby, the updated Ram Bar offers an upscale lounge to enjoy specialty cocktails and light fare, with plush couches and a brick patio overlooking the Sun Valley pond.

A credit card is required to hold your reservation. Should your plans change, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance. Last minute cancellations and no shows may be charged $25 per person.

Great menu with some original twists. Lovely, timeless ambiance. A satisfying experience at a legendary American restaurant with tons of history.

I had the trout and my husband had the beef tenderloin and both were outstanding. The food at the Ram is very flavorful and well prepared.

Visitors to Sun Valley simply must go to the Ram. The restaurant is rich in history, has excellent food, and impeccable service.

Worst service. We left after appetizers because the wait staff disappeared for over 30 minutes. Steak tartare was very marginal. Disappointing night.

Highly rewarding experience to dine at The Ram. The daily specials from the early days of the restaurant are fun & worth checking out. The restaurant noise level was refreshingly moderate - and the excellent Pianist added to the warm and friendly vibe. Kudos to Sun Valley Co for making The Ram a special place with a wonderful history. And the food was great too - the Lamb mixed grill & Salmon were excellent.

We enjoyed a great meal at the Ram. Chef Adam Fisher prepared a delicious meal! The shrimp appetizer was out of this world! We also enjoyed their famous fondue and loved every bite! Our waiter was Frank. He took great care of us and was very funny! Thank you, Ram Restaurant, for a wonderful evening!

I live that they have the classic menu, plus spectacular other, creative dishes. And the pianist was an extra treat.

Enjoyed a scrumptious steak dinner. Everything was delicious. The only thing lacking was the service. Our server was nice but not refined for what you would typically expect in a fine dining restaurant. I had to refill our wine throughout our meal, which isn’t typical. She also didn’t advise on flavor profiles / as an example, our son ordered a chocolate dessert that had liquor in it. We will be back as overall it was a great experience!

The Ram offered a casual environment and nice, but not spectacular food. While the renovations make the dining experience pleasant, it also means that there is not as much charm from an 'old original' perspective. Service was attentive and prompt. Closer to Dollar Mountain than Baldy Mountain, it is a bit more of a hike for which you will want/need a car or be fortunate with Uber/Lyft, which are not always plentiful at SV.

This is our second time eating at the Ram. The best way to describe this place is old charm. The maitre d is in a suit and checks your coat. Service is with patience and respect and a feeling that the staff is truly happy you are there. Food and drinks are all superb. Another highlight is an incredible pianist who seems to be able to play anything you want, while playing quietly enough that you can converse and enjoy the music at the same time. He also engages young children (and other guests) who come up to talk to him, all the while continuing to play without missing a beat.
It is a bit overheated and I would love to see a few less expensive bottles of wine available...

Busy night at the Ram but the kitchen was great once again. Trout, stuffed sole, scallops and chicken and everything was perfect.

My wife had the trout which was well prepared and presented, the wine by the glass was stingy and overpriced, I had the onion soup which was devoid of onions and the pear salad which was almost devoid of pear. Overall if you enjoy the prestige of dining in the Sun Valley Inn it is OK but better dining can be had elsewhere in the Valley

Poor service, small salads and overcooked filet mignon for $40. Nit a good experience for slot of money. The salads were tiny so small you ate them in 2 bites. They overcooked my steak to the point of rubber it was a terrible dinner.

Loved our waitress Deborah. So attentive. We had one of the best salmon preparations ever. I ordered the pork chop and it was so moist and delicious. So glad we disregarded people telling us not to go there. The ambiance has been updated. The carolers were an added bonus. Wow what a way to start the Christmas holiday. Thanks

For a large table of 6 or so, i found it difficult to converse across the table due to ambient news. Everything else was great. Sirloin strip was huge and juicy.

We were there for my husband’s birthday. This was our 3rd time dining at The Ram. The crab cakes were the best we have had anywhere! All crab and the pepper sauce was perfect. All 4 of our meals were wonderful; the two of us ordered the pork tenderloin schnitzel which was tender and delicious. We could have shared an order it was so big. Thanks, we had it for dinner again tonight at home! Can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed the evening, Thank you Michael!
