Great food and great service. We will definitely come back.
The food was priced for a high-end restaurant, but the experience was more casual than I was expecting. Most people wore jeans and sweatshirts, and our server seemed to have too many tables to provide a high level of service. The wine corking fee was $30 (most places it is $15-20). A fine place to go if you are staying in the area and don't want to drive. But in nearby Ketchum there are many other quality places to visit.
Despite the fact that our some of party of 6 was late, and we I had 2 no-shows (yes, very inconsiderate) , the staff showed tremendous understanding and patience. They saved the night. Really appreciated their good humor. Food was excellent, as was the atmosphere.
My husband and I enjoy dining at the RAM as the food is always excellent. I am vegan (husband is not) and the chef has always accommodated my food preference with delicious, creativity. Wine selection is excellent as well. The live piano music is a wonderful addition to the atmosphere.
Don't miss this opportunity to experience the first restaurant in Sun Valley & all its charm & history. The service & food are great.
We had a lovely evening at The Ram and highly recommend to anyone visiting Sun Valley. Deborah and the staff took great care of us and really made the night feel extra special. Highly recommend the fondue to start (there were 4 of us and ordered the fondue for 2 and it was a perfect app to share). The romaine salad, scallops, lamb shank, and pork chop were all delish - depending on what you’re hungry for, you can’t go wrong with any of those! We were so full we didn’t opt for dessert... next time! We’ll be back!
Loved the meal, did not care for the dessert, choose the wrong one, but we’ll be back
We had a delicious and delightful dinner at the Ram. The decor reflects the history of Sun Valley, cozy with an Austrian flare. A piano player provides background music, and our waiter, Jan, was knowledgable and friendly. Service was timely with steaks cooked exactly as ordered, and substitutions requested were honored with a smile. The food is both a bit retro (cheese fondue, which was great), and modern (miso black cod and tuna tartare).
We visited in the winter, but in the summer their outdoor dining offers a terrific view and the same wonderful pianist.
Fresh, deliciously and perfectly prepared dinner, presented beautifully by an attentive and friendly waiter named Jan. We have recommended to other friends in Sun Valley and will definitely return. Compliments to the very talented chef and team .
It was a nice overall experience. Food was executed well and service was excellent.
We have been dining at The Ram for 42 years. The new remodeled version is the best. The nighty specials from many years ago are perfect.
We really enjoyed our dinner there. We had the Fondue and it was very good.
We loved our server, can't remember her first name but her last name was Fox. Our food was ok. We've been there a ton over the years and this was our least favorite experience. We ordered the Poke to start, steak, scallops, shrimp, gnocchi and none of it impressed us. We unfortunately left unsatisfied wishing that we would have ordered fondue because at least we know that's always good! Not sure I would recommend it but I'm willing to try it again in the future.
We had a party of 8 and everyone was extremely satisfied with the dinners and Larry playing the piano. Michael, Manager and Adam, Executive Chef really contributed to our wonderful evening.
The new remodel and menu are a good addition. Same excellent wait staff.
nice interior, friendly staff. menu choices limited, wine list overpriced. good location in the village.
The evening started with a very attentive waiter who spent time explaining the menu and wine list. I had the pork chop. It was prepare perfect. The pecan pie was delightful!
Attentive and very nice waitress and good Maitre’d. All 4 of us had different dinners and we all liked what we got. Piano music so nice! We look forward to going back - next week actually!
Freshly remodeled interior and updated menu, including daily specials that harken back to the early days of Sun Valley. I had the liver and onions, a special from 1939, and it was delicious. Served with a bacon and caramelized onion relish and cooked perfectly, medium rare.
Can't wait to return and try the other specials and off the menu items.
Very nice selection of wines by the glass.
Staff took great care of us!!
Absolutely THE best food and service imaginable!!! Far exceeded our expectations, and we had begun the evening meal there with HIGH ones to start with!! Nothing could have been better—if it had, we would have been spoiled forever!! And the cheese fondue was the most romantic and yummy appetizer we’ve ever had! THANK YOU!
Though I really like the ambiance of the Sun Valley Inn and of the outdoor setting of the Sun Valley Village, I was very disappointed in the Ram Restaurant. I had heard that there were some improvements. What we found was a very noisy restaurant, very slow service, and overpriced very tough wiener schnitzel that was so thin, hard and dry that it took an effort to even cut it with a knife. Unlike most restaurants in town, there was a charge for splitting any and all dishes. There are much better restaurants in town with better service and better food. Wish the Konditeri in the Village were open for dinner!
I had the “historic”pepper steak must be the best deal for a great N.Y. steak in town for $25!
My wife had the salmond and it’s hard to get this fish perfectly cooked, this was and it was perfect
Lovely evening that started with drinks in the bar. Friendly and approachable team. The food was wonderful and was impressed that both the chef, Adam and Manager, Michael made a point to seek us out to make sure we enjoyed our evening. Classic Alpine decor made the whole meal perfect.
Our table was near the side of the kitchen and the cooking odor was overwhelming. They need to consider enclosing the kitchen area with glass and do a better job of venting the smell.
Awesome. Food outstanding. Deborah is a great server. Made our night special.
It was a pleasant experience. The food was good, l Our server was attentive and quite delightful. It mad for a great evening
Lovely old restaurant
recent renovation and new menu - both well done.
Same Larry on the piano.
Scallops and pork rank amongst the best ever! Ribeye was also very good. Fondu starter was good but the cheese hardens quick so eat fast!
Fabulous food, decor, ambiance, service and historical landmark. It has so much charm and character. Wonderful!
As Disney's Thumper once said, "If you can't say something nice...."
I'll cut my review short and merely suggest that the Sun Valley Resort take full advantage of their shut-down for remodeling to also train (perhaps retrain) their guest-facing staff to a standard of greater excellence in service. While the food was terrific, and the atmosphere is being restored (shut-down between Labor Day and mid-December 2017, we're told), the time to improve the human side of the guest experience is abound. Our satisfaction with recent dining experience in the food category as well as our curiosity and confidence in leadership will propel us past the poor service received. In December, we'll give them one more try. Let's get it right this time!
We couldn't ask for a better spot to celebrate 55 years together. Thanks

Always love the Ram. Great food and fun gathering place with friends.
Wonderful experience for my wife's birthday. Service and food perfect. Michael, the maitre'd, was especially helpful! Wonderful dining on the patio in summer cannot be beat. One of our must go to restaurants when in Sun Valley.
Outside seating - beautiful views
Our reservation was for 11:00a.m. and when we arrived there was a sign that said they would not open until 4:30.
Our only issue was that we needed to designate an outdoor table when we made Open Table reservations. This wasn't clear on the website. The manager gave us a table by the window but only after we had to express our displeasure after being made to feel we were at fault and being told they wouldn't accommodate us with a table by the window. We're used to getting nice tables when we use Open Table and these reservations were made 3 weeks in advance. Overall, our evening was very nice. Our server was fabulous and very friendly.
The best ambiance EVER!! Live piano music, great food, amazing service...simply THE BEST!!!
The Ram was very busy Saturday night and I understand how things can get a little crazy. But they were very accommodating and gracious. The host was very outgoing and informative, very lively. We always love it there.
We are hoping for future dining that they will add a fondue option for the entree portion of the menu. This is why we always go for their delicious fondue. Currently, it is only offered as an appetizer and the portion you receive is too small if you are ordering as your main course. So it's really like fondue for one.
But that is all that I could be constructive about. Otherwise it's amazing. The atmosphere is so wonderful and nostalgic.
We hear that a major remodel is coming this Fall to the Sun Valley Inn and we hope they don't change it too much. Hopefully they keep the same feel and atmosphere while updating.
Picture perfect evening! Delicious food. George was the best waiter. Accommodating, patient and attentive.
