Really appreciate the accommodation of our group 30 minutes before closing for lunch. Management and staff very sensitive and responsive to customer preferences. They also allowed us to bring our own birthday cake in for dessert! Food is always great here too!
Overall disappointed! The meal was way overpriced for the quality. Smoked chicken linguini dish was dark meat and slimy and definitely needed lemon or some sort of seasoning, shrimp scallop meal had very large but tasteless shrimp (the scallops were good but there were only a few), crab cake ok but too much sauce. Four dishes, one margarita and two sodas (no appetizers or sides) was $192 before tip and no one finished their meals because the food wasn’t great.
An exceptional Sunday brunch locale for locals and visitors alike that won’t break your budget. Superb food consistently and deliciously prepared with great service by a friendly local staff. Eclectic decor and seating.
Love the Rail Stop, great food and service and always consistent!
We were disappointed...this place had such great reviews but our experience did not match what we read. It’s a cute little place and it was busy....my dish the pork loin was definitely undercooked as it was still cold and slightly bloody in the middle. I did enjoy the sweet potatoes but the greens were not washed at all....the special pasta was under seasoned and quite bland....glass of wine was left with the residue of the bottle....bread was cold....unfortunately just not what I expected at all.
Always great food and service!
The BEST crab cakes ever!!!
Love this cozy place! Food is always good, daily specials are imaginative and fresh. Customer service is alive and well at the Rail Stop. Diane greeted us at the door, was efficient and friendly, made great suggestions when we asked, and made us feel like we were her top priority while she simultaneously took care of other tables.
Can’t wait to go again!
My wife an I come here for most special occasion meals. The chef and staff are excellent. I've never had anything from the menu that wasn't amazing. It's our personal favorite restaurant.
Delicious and perfect Everytime we go.
It was my birthday and Diane was a gem of a waitress. She made sure, throughout our meal, we were happy with our experience. Food was incredible, the ambiance for the occasion lovely. The only thing I would have liked to have changed was the temperature in the room. It was chilly! Perhaps a floor heater would do the trick. All in all we had a wonderful evening.
Very good as usual,,,good food, service, and ambience,,,just wish they did a saturday brunch
Our group of five friends met for lunch and were treated very warmly. We all enjoyed our meal and found The Rail Stop to be both convenient and comfortable for a gathering.
My husband and I ordered off the dinner specials menu. My seafood dinner was very good. My husband’s seafood pasta was just okay. Both meals were pricey ($36 each) and that combined with a couple glasses of wine made the final bill way overpriced for a very casual place. Most entrees were $25+.
My lunch hamburger was delicious--juicy and flavorable--and a good size. They use organic beef.
Rail Stop never disappoints. Food quality, service and ambiance are professional and confident.
Four friends out to celebrate the Birthday Girl. Cocktails, dinner and dessert. Everyone enjoyed their selections. Most delicious veal I've ever had...and my husband and I have dined in a lot of restaurants on 3 continents and 2 islands! Really great food at The Rail Stop.
Fabulous food and welcoming. Super cute place. Awesome service. It's why we return each year for our family Christmas Eve Gathering!
This was our first time to the Rail Stop but we will definitely return. The food was outstanding as was the service. We ordered the crab cake appetizer and it was the best crab cake I have ever eaten - lots of crab and excellent seasoning. Three of us had the grilled Angus strip which was excellent and was offered in two sizes which was a welcome option. One person ordered the pork chop which was good but not seasoned as well as the strip steak. The ambience is upscale casual in the dining room while the bar side appeared more casual for dinner or drinks at the bar.
A very good local restaurant with creative and delicious choices. Uses local produce and meat. Great service, friendly and welcoming.
Excellent quality. Always know you will be well taken care of at The Rail Stop.
The Rail Stop is our favorite local restaurant and has been for many years. We tend to go early in the evening (at opening) and are usually on our way out by the time it's getting busier. Always good food and prompt, friendly service.
It was our grandson’s 21st birthday and we met him for lunch on Sunday after church. Food was wonderful, service excellent and we all enjoyed ourselves.
Wonderful service, healthy menu, and delicious food, as usual!!
Nice dining experience until the end. Asked for a little sauce for two remaining raviolis and was told there would be an extra charge. Disappointing!
This is one of our favorite restaurants. Great service. Excellent food made from locally sourced ingredients. Never disappoints. Small menu that frequently changes. Love it!
Always a warm, friendly atmosphere. Easy to become a regular here. Staff are all friendly and attentive.
My favorite place for brunch on Sunday, love the drive to get there, but love the food more. The Doughnut basket is too die for.
The food here just keeps getting better and better! The crab cakes are superb, and I love the duck spring roles. The bourbon chocolate pecan pie was a real treat.
The dining area is divided into two rooms, one seemed more formal with tablecloths, the other was casual and has a hanging lionel train track, open kitchen and small bar.
Although the food and service was very good, I thought the value was lacking. I got sauteed spinach (salad), which had bacon and shrimp. It tasted good, but a small plate of sauteed spinach with 4 shrimp in my book is overpriced at $14! It was good ... but not a good value. We enjoyed our time there, and the folks were very kind and accommodating.
We have been here several times. The food is good. I am a picky eater but I still found a good choice despite the fancier choices which everyone else likes so much. The lady who seated us and waited on us (the owner?) is delightful. She's very friendly and helpful, answering my questions so I could make an appropriate choice. I don't drink so I can't help with that. The place is cute and not loud so we could easily talk. We'll definitely return.
Good service, great cooks, and a great place, where you will always meet with good friends!
Appetizers: calamari salad and warm spinach salad. Entrees:: crab cakes and veal saltimbocca. All were excellent. The waiter recommended the wine, which was a good pairing (I forget which one). Great place for a date. We will be back.
For my wife's birthday, she decided we should try The Rail Stop. We have eaten there on several occasions and very much like the ambiance and the chefs specials. The service is always outstanding.
Best food around!
You can never go wrong at The Rail Stop!
Excellent food and service, consistently wonderful! Our favorite restaurant in the area bar none.
We decided to try the Rail Stop now that we live closer to The Plains. You can tell it's a "neighborhood gem;" everyone seemed to know everyone else. The rockfish special was delicious, with a butter caper sauce that could have used just another squeeze of lemon. The asparagus were nicely done. The wine list is small but interesting, with such finds as a pinto gris and pinot blanc. You need reservations on the weekend. The noise level increased as the tables filled. All in all, an enjoyable if somewhat noisy experience.
Celebrating a friend’s birthday. Superb in every way!
A favorite of ours in VA horse country.. creative cuisine especially with meat and duck...attentive service. Nice wine list..conducive to quiet conversation - at least on weeknights. Pasta special not as impressive as duck specials in past bu husband loved the pork.
