The Rail Stop
The food was delicious. The room was a little loud for morning brunch, the waitress was very attentive. My child needs a straw because she's 3 and doesn't drink well from a cup. Well, they don't have any straws.. not even the eco friendly kind if that's their reasoning. So, that's my only complaint.
Great food and good service. Only bummer is that we sat near the front door.
Sitting outside on the porch, was a nice treat since the weather cooperated. The server was so amenable --we were at restaurant before 11 but he seated us- brought us water and drinks before the restaurant opened. Delicious crabcakes and gazpacho aoup--chili and salad. Very relaxed and enjoyable morning.
The food & service was wonderful, as usual.
The food was outstanding!
Loved it. If it wasn't a little out of my price range for everyday dining, I'd eat there everyday. Atmosphere was inviting, service was attentive but not overbearing, food was excellently prepared. Can't wait to return.
This was a nice cozy restaurant that is perfect for date night, and the food was absolutely delicious!
Beautiful restaurant with a wide selection of items on the menu. The food was all fresh and delicious and the staff was very attentive and professional.
The food was excellent! I had a grilled ham and cheese sandwich and my sister had the halibut with couscous. Both were wonderful - great flavor! The Gazpacho was very fresh - you could taste all the garden veggies.
Wonderful dinner fabulous service can’t wait to go back
The Rail Stop is reliably excellent. I live in the area and the agreement among friends is that no matter how fancy the rest of the restaurant scene gets, the Rail Stop still holds its own. Food is great, ambiance is simple, service is super. I always recommend it.
The restaurant is lovely, with white tablecloths and classic setting. All the staff is pleasant and polite. Dessert was not served simultaneously: my end of the table (8 people) had dug into our desserts before we realized that the other end hadn’t received theirs. Just a minor thing, overall another wonderful meal at the Rail!
Food and service were excellent... even to the point where I had noted that I was warm and the waiter actually turned up the air conditioning.
Been there many times for lunch and dinner. Lunch is best value and lunch services are outstanding . Only complaint is that the drinks were VERY weak. My bloody Mary was bland and practically devoid of alcohol even though I asked three times that it be made "spicy". My husband's vodka tonic had practically no vodka. Wine prices are high but good has always been plentiful and very well prepared
Our Open Table reservation was ready for us and they could not have been more accommodating to our special requests. Our server was excellent. Sort of a limited lunch menu, but each of us enjoyed what we ordered, and they have daily specials which make the choices more interesting. Would have loved a baguette or crostini with the mussels, because the sauce with them was delicious. Recommend going early as it filled up quickly and got a bit noisy. Look forward to returning soon.
Outstanding. We ordered four different appetizers and four different entrees and all were wonderful. Highly recommend.
Wonderful food & service as usual!
2nd visit and just as good as the first. Highly recommend them for good food in a relaxed setting!
Great country atmosphere . Food is very good, the Rock Fish special was “spot on good.” Been here before and will return.
Only one suggestion to management — tell servers that after you open the wine to offer a taste to the person who orders the wine. Do not just automatically pour each glass..
Excellent service, excellent cuisine in an idyllic setting!
I was underwhelmed with this restaurant and I will not be recommending it or returning for another visit. I think $30.00 for “hand-made” pasta, topped with what tasted like frozen lobster and flavorless Marinara was a little much. The restaurant was small and lacked ambiance not to mention the bathroom could use an update and the chairs were quite uncomfortable. I do not understand why this restaurant is rated so well. The Service was good and the wait staff was friendly. The food was editable but I was expecting more pizzazz and flavor for this price point. Be aware that many of the items featured on the online menu may not actually available in the restaurant. The parking was on the street only with no available handicap parking available in front of the restaurant. There was a sign which said there was some parking around back but we could not find it and there were no signs leading us to it.
After staying away too long and not on purpose, we experienced a kitchen operating at its highest level of excellence. From the soft shell crabs in season, delicately prepared, to the homemade ravioli, to the always great crab cakes, The Rail Stop is the destination for the hungry, the tired and the stressed. Please try the organic Pinot Gris from the fabulous Willamette Valley of Oregon. It will blow you away in its subtly. If you are lucky enough to have Diane Hilton as your server, count your blessings. She is gracious, professional and gorgeous. Do not miss The Rail Stop.
Great time for a Mother’s Day celebration - great food and wonderful service! The place was packed with happy customers for the event.
We come here very often and every time we have such a good experience. I love the atmosphere, the food, and the service is always delightful. Always happy to come back here.
Outstanding food and service! My friend and I had a delightful time!!
The food and service were outstanding which is been our experience as we have eaten at the rail stop many times.
Found this gem while searching for a new place to go to dinner with SWMBO. Great experience! Arrived early, got seated immediately, ordered the pan seared sea scallops and was very pleased that I did. Wife had the veal and it too was excellent. Staff was friendly and efficient - brought the meal quickly (sooner than expected) and let us eat in peace. Would highly recommend them and plan on going back!!
Has the potential to be excellent. Service was spotty; it appeared a new person was being trained and the other person had too much going on, but when service was provided it was attentive. Food with a little more attention would also be very good. The soba salad was very good, but it had been cooked with too much oil (I wanted to sop up the oil with a paper napkin). The cheese on the cheeseburger looked it it had come out of a plastic sleeve and was not melted. Less oil and melted cheese would have made difference in both meals. Desserts were good, but pricey. Recommend that prices be posted. If I was local or in the area I'd give it another try, but it's not worth the hour drive for me - sadly.
The Rail stop has the smallish menu so that everything they serve is well prepared. One of us had the chicken and mashed potatoes and substituted asparagus, all very well cooked, I had a perfectly cooked steak, and the Asian duck rolls with hoisin are terrific.
Never disappoints!! When of our absolute favorite spots!
Very good food. Pricey, but delicious. I recommend you get there earlier to enjoy the town.
Nice people, attentive service, very expensive, pasta special was bland, salmon good but piece very small, we've had many better meals for similar prices elsewhere. Don't plan to return.
Excellent luncheon. 2 specials particularly good.
Love the Rail Stop! The food is always good and the people are friendly! One of my favorite places!
We love the Rail Stop. Jenny and Diana are fantastic. The food is outstanding. Only recommendation is that they change the menu once or twice a year. It never changes.
Promptly greeted upon arrival. Just a great evening - delicious food and great service!
We always enjoy this place
A wonderful experience, as always, great service and delicious food.
I have recommended the Rail Stop to several of my friends and will continue to do so! I had salmon over a rice medley last Sunday and it was delicious!! The chicken burrito wasn't bad either!! Try it, you will like it!!
Incredible staple of The Plains. We went here for the first time in 10 years and the food and service was as excellent as I remember.
