The Rail Stop is our favorite “go to” restaurants for a casual weekend lunch or brunch. We have been going here for years and it has been wonderfully consistent. The restaurant is comfortable and friendly. The food is great, with a couple of favorites being the delicious cornmeal blueberry pancakes and the shrimp or fish club. The iced tea is the best I’ve ever had and the coffee is fantastic.
You can’t go wrong at the Rail Stop. Take a drive to this special spot and enjoy!
I've probably eaten at the Rail Stop at least 50 times and it's always been exquisite. Met up with friends on Sunday. Service was ridiculously slow - OK. But the "special" was a riff on my favorite item on the menu. Without realizing the difference, my order arrived as the special. Not only couldn't I eat it, it was poorly prepared. Scrambled eggs were cooked too hot so very arrived at the table very dry with little seasoning and very small compared to size of the other items on the plate. So, I take at least 50% of the blame for this - will be much more careful next time - and we will go back - just make sure you understand exactly how the dish will be prepared and that it's to your liking. It was also terribly noisy, something I've never really noticed before. So go, it's a great place to eat!
Nice meal, great service.
Awesome brunches, friendly staff, delicious local food! I love this place because its casual but you can come for Valentine's, Birthdays, or just for brunch on Sundays and a date night. It isn't loud so you can actually have a nice relaxing conversation! The food is delicious and local. Bon appetite!
Railstop is a rustic local spot with fabulous food and service.
Another great experience, the Rail Stop does not disappoint.
Jenny and Diane always provide the best service and remember us each time. We enjoy the Rail Stop at least once per month even though the basis menu is the same; the quality is always there! Sometimes noisy with groups enjoying themselves but never too disruprive to enjoy our food and conversation.
Great place, quiet atmosphere, great food, located in the Plains VA.
Aside from being very loud, our dinner experience was very nice. This was our first time at the Rail Stop so we would definitely give it another shot.
Ron was our server and was most pleasant and attentive . The food was delicious!
See you soon!
Quiant small town reminds us of a simplier time. Glad there are still places like Rail Stop in existenance. Food very good. It was mothers day. Got seated ahead of time for a 7 pm reservation. Recommend going if u dont want a chain or fancy place. Just “plain” good in The Plains”
Had brunch here, eggs were room temp-cool, home fries were very bland, no amount of salt could save them, and the sausage was not cooked through, though the flavor of the sausage was the best part of the plate. The pastry basket was good. Won't be going back.
Rail Stop is one of my favorite restaurants. I have been going to RS for years and enjoy my experiences there.
Food was excellent great variety of choices, bar area for eating as well as dining room, service was efficient never obtrusive, prices reasonable for upscale dining
A favorite repeat dining spot for spouse and me. We visit the Middleburg area 3-5 times per year and NEVER miss the opportunity to dine at The Rail Stop. The service, quality of ingredients and innovation make this dining experience a must.
Have eaten here many times over the last 15 years. Great every time
Nice quaint place with good food and service. Nothing fancy- just good mix. will come back.
Very good food , excellent service
We hadn't been there in a long time. We're so glad wereturnd
Great Easter Brunch with the family. As always the food and drinks were awesome!
The Rail Stop is simply a hunt country treasure. Excellent food at reasonable prices, and excellent, experienced servers. There is a reason why it keeps going and doing well - The customers keep coming back.
Great place great food great people great!
Awesome crab cakes, awesome! Only negative is the portion sizes of all entrees for the price.
Crab cake, mussels, crispy french fries, scallops and shrimps - all perfectly prepared. Who could ask for more.....
We go there for brunch and I absolutely love it
Great food great service great value
This was a great place for dinner after visiting wineries in western Fauquier and beyond. We will definitely return; especially when the weather is warmer and we can eat outdoors.
Really appreciate the accommodation of our group 30 minutes before closing for lunch. Management and staff very sensitive and responsive to customer preferences. They also allowed us to bring our own birthday cake in for dessert! Food is always great here too!
Overall disappointed! The meal was way overpriced for the quality. Smoked chicken linguini dish was dark meat and slimy and definitely needed lemon or some sort of seasoning, shrimp scallop meal had very large but tasteless shrimp (the scallops were good but there were only a few), crab cake ok but too much sauce. Four dishes, one margarita and two sodas (no appetizers or sides) was $192 before tip and no one finished their meals because the food wasn’t great.
An exceptional Sunday brunch locale for locals and visitors alike that won’t break your budget. Superb food consistently and deliciously prepared with great service by a friendly local staff. Eclectic decor and seating.
Love the Rail Stop, great food and service and always consistent!
We were disappointed...this place had such great reviews but our experience did not match what we read. It’s a cute little place and it was busy....my dish the pork loin was definitely undercooked as it was still cold and slightly bloody in the middle. I did enjoy the sweet potatoes but the greens were not washed at all....the special pasta was under seasoned and quite bland....glass of wine was left with the residue of the bottle....bread was cold....unfortunately just not what I expected at all.
Always great food and service!
The BEST crab cakes ever!!!
Love this cozy place! Food is always good, daily specials are imaginative and fresh. Customer service is alive and well at the Rail Stop. Diane greeted us at the door, was efficient and friendly, made great suggestions when we asked, and made us feel like we were her top priority while she simultaneously took care of other tables.
Can’t wait to go again!
My wife an I come here for most special occasion meals. The chef and staff are excellent. I've never had anything from the menu that wasn't amazing. It's our personal favorite restaurant.
Delicious and perfect Everytime we go.
It was my birthday and Diane was a gem of a waitress. She made sure, throughout our meal, we were happy with our experience. Food was incredible, the ambiance for the occasion lovely. The only thing I would have liked to have changed was the temperature in the room. It was chilly! Perhaps a floor heater would do the trick. All in all we had a wonderful evening.
Very good as usual,,,good food, service, and ambience,,,just wish they did a saturday brunch
Our group of five friends met for lunch and were treated very warmly. We all enjoyed our meal and found The Rail Stop to be both convenient and comfortable for a gathering.
My husband and I ordered off the dinner specials menu. My seafood dinner was very good. My husband’s seafood pasta was just okay. Both meals were pricey ($36 each) and that combined with a couple glasses of wine made the final bill way overpriced for a very casual place. Most entrees were $25+.
