Host was fine. Lots of banquet seating (which I hate). He found us a nice booth (connected to hot kitchen though). Our waitress (older lady...? Maybe more than a waitress...?) but she was SLOW! She talked to a couple forever, not once looking at my table. LOTS OF WAITING!
Food was pretty good. Because of the service I wouldn’t go back :(

I would probably recommend another place before recommending here, but it is descent food, limited menu especially for those with a limited diet.

Great birthday dinner. Our server Angelina was professional, knew the menu well with great recommendations. Prime rib was excellent and the poke was great. Great dinner experience!

It was disappointing that they were out of the pork chops which two people in our group wanted to order. Other than that, it was good; everyone enjoyed their meals. It was great to be able to make a reservation for our large group, and they handled us very well.

We were 10 people and it took them literally 2:45 hours to serve us (she said there was a 25 people group of people so that’s why they couldn’t serve us but there’s no way because there’s no space and we didn’t see a group of 25), the waitress forgot the appetizers and she said we didn’t reminded her that’s why she didn’t bring them. Then they overcooked the meet so we send it back, then she tried to told one of my friends they made the pappardelle on a different way which was breast duck in one plate and then pasta in a different plate but then she brought it right a d it was a way different dish. It was all horrible for $400 dlls, not worth it at all. She asked for drinks just once, it was just horrible experience!

Our table was ready when we came in. We waited over 20 minutes for anyone to come to our table and the restaurant was NOT busy! We went up to the bar ourselves after 15 minutes to get a drink. A nice waitress ,Angie finally came over and asked if we had been helped and took our order. She made up for the grumpy slow man who was supposedly supposed to wait on us. We won’t go back to the restaurant maybe to the bar. Thanks Angie for taking care of us!

I didn't want to write this review of The Rafters because it will probably be harder to get a reservation now but you deserve to know the truth...This is our favorite restaurant in Mammoth Lakes! Great food, great ambiance, great staff!

This is not my first visit. I have dined at Rafters many times over the last 20 years. I was very sad to see the lack of effort with food. We were sitting next to a table where they sent their filet back because it tasted ‘strange’. They mentioned the duck plate had a piece of chicken on it... Wierd! I asked about the pot pie, the Server said do not order because the others Diners are complaining about it.
At this point we just ordered flat bread and some poke. The poke was horrible. Our flatbread was great.
A great venue for Friday and Saturday nights to enjoy the bands. A new Chef is needed!
The Bartenders make a great drink. Beer is cool!

After years of annual trips to Mammoth, we tried this place and are so happy we did. Although it was a busy Friday night, from the door to our table the service was fantastic. Kevin took special care to accommodate our small children. The food was tasty and large portions. Our water glasses were never empty, which is uncommon these days. We will definitely return on our next trip to Mammoth.

I went with a group of friends for my birthday dinner and we had a wonderful overall experience. Not only was the food great, the service was exceptional from Angie. After dinner there was music and dancing followed by a live band. Highly recommend!

Very poor service. Brought a clients there on Friday 1/4/19 and the waiter forgot about our table. We had a party of 9! Took forever to get our food out and when it arrived it was cold and of poor quality. Totally disappointed in the dinner

Sadly, the Rafters was experiencing some type of staff problem. Dinner was INEDIBLE. The nice part was the manager and the waiter both apologized and acknowledged that the staff situation had impacted the night and took 2 of the 3 entrees off our bill. They were obviously in a difficult situation, but they should have had a limited menu or something if they couldn't accommodate dinner.

The service at this place is terrible. Food is okay for last resort. Don't go here unless it is a last option. Even then, see if there are any premade sandwiches at CVS first.

In spite of Rafters having notoriously horrible service, I continue to visit. Why? I don't know, but maybe because it is close to where I have to charge my car. The food is actually pretty decent. The service has ALWAYS been abysmal. Such a great place with pretty good food. I just don't understand why the service is always so poor. It seems to me that the waiting staff has never been taught how to focus on a customer. Our waitress turned to talk to another bus-person several times in the middle of our order. I was talking to her, when, several times, she turned her head and looked somewhere else, forgetting that she was in the middle of supposedly listening to me. I honestly did not mind, because I expected nothing more. The rest of the time, the wait staff is busy doing something with their backs to their customers. How would they ever know if they were needed. NOT ONCE, did our waitress check to see if we needed something. They missed out on us ordering more drinks! When I FINALLY got her to give us the check, I watched her move all around the restaurant in an efficient manner, taking care of one thing, then another, without ever getting much done, and eventually getting me my change. No sense of efficiency at all!

I was here in the summer. There were altogether 12 people in the entire restaurant. We could not get the wait staff to take our drink order. I left the table, and ordered directly from the bartender.

The bus staff were, on the other hand, very helpful, always keeping our water glasses full.

The manager seemed pretty receptive to the multitude of complaining patrons. I don't blame her, though I still believe in the expression "S**t flows downhill. Ultimately, this seems to be a problem with the ownership. They just do not understand how to be attentive to their customers, teaching them the very basics of customer service.

In summary, good food, lousy service. They need a consultant to re-train them.

Took 2 hours to have our meal, fillet was burnt on the outside. Mac and cheese was boring and under cooked. Service was slow, though the waiter was kind. There was no silverware on the table, manager had to turn on the lamp behind us so we had enough light to see.

We came for my birthday celebration. My husband had to send back his T-bone for a replacement rib eye/ The T-bone was too tough to cut. Angie was great about suggesting another cut. He said the mashed potatoes were tasteless and he had to add a lot of salt and pepper. Neither one of us cared for the oregano vinegarette dressing on the house salad, so I never ate mine with that dressing and my husband asked Angie to bring ranch on the side so he ate some salad. My mushroom ravioli was very delicious. Angie brought us the yummy cheesecake for my birthday dessert and did not charge us for it. She ended up charging us for two pasta dishes and not one steak and one pasta dish, which was very acceptable. She seemed to be the only server on that weeknight so service was a bit slow. Otherwise, she was pleasant and professional.

It took a long time to get seated and when we did, we were brought the bar menu. We asked for dinner menus but she indicated that none were available even though we'd seen one at our hotel and I always have dinner here when I am in town. We ended up leaving and nobody acknowledged us.

Our first disappointing dinner with Open Table. We should have been warned by lackluster reviews, but we thought we would try it ourselves. First the place looks very “tired” inside. It is old and feels dirty. The hostess wasn’t that friendly (unusual for Open Table reservations in our experience.) But the main problem was the food; it was terrible. The salmon tasted so fishy (didn’t taste like any salmon I’ve ever had), honestly I probably should have sent it back as later I wondered if it had gone bad. The couscous and shredded vegetables that came with it were almost ok but only in comparison to the lousy fish. Mind you the salmon is listed as their specialty. Yikes. Hubby ordered baby back ribs. The meat was very dry and almost as tasteless as the bread we were served before the meal. He usually finishes his meal but we both left ours half eaten. No one checked on us after we got our meals, we even had to ask for more water. No questions were asked as to why we didn’t finish our meals or if we wanted to-go boxes. They must have guessed no one wants to take this crap home. Anyway, I would definitely avoid this place for dinner (heard breakfast is much better, at least on Sunday’s)

our waitress was new and not very knowledgeable. But she was nice ...the other waiter on duty looked like it would have been a better experience (man with beard). hostess didnt try very hard at anything. I told her to make sure she recorded that we had a used a reservation ...but she didnt. Restaurant needs some TLC. The menu is small. The bar tender did a great job when we had a cocktail outside on deck after our meal.

My husband ordered French dip and when arrived it was without au jus dip, only catsup. When my husband was asked about lack of au jus, server said there was none in kitchen. This was upsetting as the French dip needs the au jus. There was no offer to reorder something else, just a shrug. When we we almost finished eating the server offered another beer on the house. This does not make up for the lack of information flow from kitchen to server. As we left a woman in the next booth ordered a French dip and still was not informed of the lack of au jus dip. So my husband informed her about it rather than the server (different server than ours). The communication was the issue, and the Rafters have lost our future patronage.

Very disappointed in our meals. Pasta dish very dry, shrimp flavorless. Prime rib tasted like an overcooked steak. Baby back ribs chewy, far from fall off the bone. Mashed potatoes good. Salads good, but we didn't know they were family style. Server was very nice.

Went here on Easter not realizing it was a special buffet menu. Being vegetarian, we weren’t sure there would be a lot of selection but we were pleasantly surprised. Also, when we discovered that the vegetarian pasta dish on the menu had been changed to a pasta dish with meat, the waiter asked the chef to make us the original dish listed on the menu. Good deal for the price.

Our experience was exceptional. Seated quickly and although busy, we did not have any waitstaff issues. The food is stellar here. I had the Bison short-ribs...what are they marinated with??? Absolutely divine. Have you seen the TWENTY ONE page wine-list? Our 7 person party had oysters, salads and most of the entrees...everything was truly delicious. Go ahead, make a rezi and enjoy!

It was a Wednesday night and we had a reservation and they told us before we were sat their computers went down they were catching up and food was taking 40 minutes. We understood and were ok with that but they were completely understaffed and after 20 minutes with no water or a waiter to greet us we left. They should have stopped seating if they couldn’t handle it.

I left a lousy review a couple of years ago when our waiter disappeared for 90 minutes. Literally. Service has been good since, and food is good.
