The Quarter Bistro
The Quarter Bistro and Tavern, or the “Q” as the staff affectionately terms it, is pleased to welcome you to their restaurant. A first of its kind in Ann Arbor, the Q aims to deliver a unique and exciting dining experience by marrying European Bistro dining with a Cajun/Creole twist. The cooking style features only the best ingredients. To highlight its unique style of cooking, the Q looked to Cajun/Creole methods for inspiration. A class of cuisine unto itself, Cajun/Creole cooking reflects a proud and strong heritage that features an abundance of fresh, native ingredients.
But I wish the online menu had indicated that brunch was a buffet with a set price. I proposed to meet friends there and then felt guilty that I had roped them into a expensive buffet.
The food at the Quarter Bistro is always outstanding. However, the service we received was dismal. Through open table we said it was our anniversary. Nothing was ever mentioned, and the server, whom we rarely saw, never asked us if we were there for a special occasion. We asked for a booth vs the table near the door/hostess stand and were told that they were reserved. When one person asked for another glass of wine (to the person bringing us our food), instead of the waiter coming back and asking, he came up and said the wine was coming. When he was told that we wanted a different type, he all but rolled his eyes at having to change the order to the bar. The hostess was the one to ask us if we needed to go boxes, and she was the one who brought them to us. This was the first time we ever had bad and hope it was a one time glitch.
We celebrated a birthday party and because of our party size we were seated in a room so sound was perfect. Nicole, our waitress, gave us great recommendations and her attentiveness and service were superb. Our dinners were all delicious and proportions were all so large that we all had to box them up to go.
I had reservations for 7. I use a walker. We were shoved in a back table so tight I was unable to even get to the brunch room. I felt like I was embarrassing your staff and they made it impossible for me to get out and enjoy the buffet. My daughter brought me a plate but I was near tears and didn’t eat much.
I have eaten at The Quarter Bistro four times now. I have enjoyed every meal.
We were looking for a quiet dinner with great food. The Quarter Bistro delivered! The food was delicious and the service was great!
All three of us totally enjoyed. I was so glad I remembered having had a positive experience here before. We'll be back soon!
Five in our party and we all ordered different dinners. Everyone was very pleased with their selection. Service was great and they were very accommodating when we asked to be seated in a different area twice before settling down for dinner. Prices are a bit high but portions are ample. We actually stayed for almost three hours as the atmosphere was conducive to the engaging conversation we were having over dinner.
Anniversary. Waiter smelled like an ashtray, it wasn’t very pleasant.
Service was very prompt and attentive despite the large groups present. The bread and salads were delicious. Our desserts were excellent and plated beautifully. Sadly, my Steak Diane was a disappointment and given that it is among the most pricey items on the menu, it seems fair to have high expectations. The portions were ample, but needed salt. My first bite of steak was so gristly, I could hardly chew it. Also, my husband wondered if it needs to be plated differently so that the liquid from the greens doesn't water down the sauce. The dining room has a warm, intimate atmosphere, but the noise level and 70s music (why?) did not enhance the experience. We were asked if we were celebrating a special occasion and we indicated it was our anniversary. Nothing was done or said after that to wish us a happy anniversary (either in words or cake or whatever), so that seemed odd. Why ask and then not respond in some way? So, overall, it was a good experience, but not consistent enough to be outstanding.

Cheese was with molds. And I'm not talking about some kind of mold cheese - I'm talking about squares of cheddar etc with mold on it.
Other than that our brunch was great!
Service is always great. Lunch special beef stroganoff was delicious and large portion.

We enjoy dining at Quarter for special occasions. Great food and atmosphere. Can be a bit noisy on weekends but during the week it is quiet. Never had a bad meal.
Excellent! Buffet had great variety and was fully stocked even though we got there about 1/2 hour before it closed
The food was very good, as expected. However, I knocked over and broke my wine glass, and no one came to help clean it up. I pointed this out to the cashier and to another waitress, and nothing. There was some glass on the floor, and nobody came to clean it up.
Not very professional
I've been hearing about this place for years, and since it is nearly impossible to get a reservation on a weekend, we decided Monday might be a good day to go.
The bread arrived with something that none of us could identify. Spread of some sort, strangely flavorless and a bit old tasting. Butter? Not sure.*
The fried appetizer was so greasy the batter was falling off before it could be eaten.
My mom ordered the Steak Diane. The steak was tough, and the mashed potatoes contained big chunks of uncooked potato.
I had the po boy. Usually the contents of one of these sandwiches is crispy but it was cooked to mush and swimming in oil, making it impossible to eat. When the manager came over to see us after we complained to the waiter, I pinched one of the grease nuggets to show him all the oil that came out and he looked as horrified as I had been. The day after and I still feel like I could shave my tongue to get all the oil off of it.
My husband had the seafood portofino, and said it was pretty tasteless. It strikes me as odd that a place calling itself a taste of New Orleans had bland, almost non-existent spices.
The only thing I'd recommend is the garlic greens. They were very good; the rest is a hard pass.
*in reading other reviews, apparently it was supposed to be hummus. As a person of Middle Eastern descent I can say it's as far from hummus in taste as you can get. Again, not a whiff of spices to be found.
The food and wine was awesome!! Service was also very timely.
Easily the best service I have ever experienced. Food was great, and was tailored to our dietary requirements. Price was a bit high, however we had drinks and dessert, and it was worth it for the ambience.
We went with out of town friends for a pleasant dinner. The service was very good and food just fine.

Perfect Friday night dinner location and ambiance. Just a little loud. Excellent menu choices including salad options. Reasonable beer prices. Delicious desserts!
This restaurant was a great surprise. We picked it as it was close to our hotel and the food was delicious. Great specials and prices were very reasonable.
We had a group of 10 for dinner on Saturday night. Darcy was fantastic and we enjoyed our dining experience. We came early for happy hour and then moved on for dinner. Highly recommend it!

A quick acknowledgement that the crab cakes here are really good-not too much spice or an over abundance of bread crumbs. Surprised me. I’ll have them again.

Actually tried to give them a second chance because they have somewhat a unique menu. Service is good, atmosphere is fine but the food on each occasion was EXTREMELY bland like it was not seasoned at all. It was cooked correctly, looked great but had no taste at all and though not expensive when you pay more than $20 an entree you would expect something decent tasting. Each time we salted and peppered our whole meal just to get some taste. Chain restaurant food is better and I have plenty more options in Ann Arbor and surrounding area at same price point or less, All with much better food. We WILL NOT eat here again.
I can't believe I'm actually about to post this review but here it goes. This restaurant used to be my families go to spot for birthdays and mothers day but the food quality and taste have diminished substantially.
I don't know if there is a new kitchen staff, new recipes, new management or all of the above but it was an sub-par experience at best.
The Catfish nuggets had bones in them and the "lateral/grass line" (the thick slimy grey stuff on the bottom of the fillet/fish) dominated the nuggets - there was barely any meat to eat and they were dark in texture and were not light, fluffy and airy. We also ordered the Chicken Marsala which was not very tasteful and had a poignant taste to the sauce. The one thing we thought we knew would enjoy was the broccoli cheese soup (soup of the day), but was told that they had run out (although there were only three parties (10 people max) in the entire restaurant.
Hopefully if you go, your experience will be much better. My course has ended with this restaurant.

We were graciously served by Kira. Kira was an excellent server, attentive and engaged. She made great suggestions as to food and drink, several of which we heeded and appreciated! We've been to the Quarter Bistro many times over many years, but honestly, Kira was the best server we've ever had. Thank you, Kira, for making our fun evening even more enjoyable.

Food was fantastic. They were very busy and a bit understaffed. Fun place, I’d go back.
Pretty disgusting dinner. The crab cake was dry . I got NY steak with mashed potatoes cold and veggie pretty wet!! The wine (#251) was supposed to be a French wine but end up to be a Merlot from California and not a good one.........The key lime pie was obviously frozen and defrost overnight with the chantilly still solid, the cream did not stick to the crust !!! The service was OK except the fact that the appetizer arrive so fast no time to enjoy one cold beer.....and then wait and wait for the main course. The best part of the meal was the Grand Marnier that you guys did not cook.
