The Quarter Bistro
The Quarter Bistro and Tavern, or the “Q” as the staff affectionately terms it, is pleased to welcome you to their restaurant. A first of its kind in Ann Arbor, the Q aims to deliver a unique and exciting dining experience by marrying European Bistro dining with a Cajun/Creole twist. The cooking style features only the best ingredients. To highlight its unique style of cooking, the Q looked to Cajun/Creole methods for inspiration. A class of cuisine unto itself, Cajun/Creole cooking reflects a proud and strong heritage that
features an abundance of fresh, native ingredients.
This restaurant was a great surprise. We picked it as it was close to our hotel and the food was delicious. Great specials and prices were very reasonable.
We had a group of 10 for dinner on Saturday night. Darcy was fantastic and we enjoyed our dining experience. We came early for happy hour and then moved on for dinner. Highly recommend it!
We enjoyed our dinner and evening. The service was very attentive.
A quick acknowledgement that the crab cakes here are really good-not too much spice or an over abundance of bread crumbs. Surprised me. I’ll have them again.
Our dinner was exceptional. The food was well prepared & presented & very tasty!
Our server, Cathy, was especially attentive, very knowledgeable about the menu & the wine list. She made our evening very special!
Actually tried to give them a second chance because they have somewhat a unique menu. Service is good, atmosphere is fine but the food on each occasion was EXTREMELY bland like it was not seasoned at all. It was cooked correctly, looked great but had no taste at all and though not expensive when you pay more than $20 an entree you would expect something decent tasting. Each time we salted and peppered our whole meal just to get some taste. Chain restaurant food is better and I have plenty more options in Ann Arbor and surrounding area at same price point or less, All with much better food. We WILL NOT eat here again.
I can't believe I'm actually about to post this review but here it goes. This restaurant used to be my families go to spot for birthdays and mothers day but the food quality and taste have diminished substantially.
I don't know if there is a new kitchen staff, new recipes, new management or all of the above but it was an sub-par experience at best.
The Catfish nuggets had bones in them and the "lateral/grass line" (the thick slimy grey stuff on the bottom of the fillet/fish) dominated the nuggets - there was barely any meat to eat and they were dark in texture and were not light, fluffy and airy. We also ordered the Chicken Marsala which was not very tasteful and had a poignant taste to the sauce. The one thing we thought we knew would enjoy was the broccoli cheese soup (soup of the day), but was told that they had run out (although there were only three parties (10 people max) in the entire restaurant.
Hopefully if you go, your experience will be much better. My course has ended with this restaurant.
Great service, was not overly impressed with the food. Pretty pricy for the taste
We were graciously served by Kira. Kira was an excellent server, attentive and engaged. She made great suggestions as to food and drink, several of which we heeded and appreciated! We've been to the Quarter Bistro many times over many years, but honestly, Kira was the best server we've ever had. Thank you, Kira, for making our fun evening even more enjoyable.
92 year-old birthday celebration!
Food was fantastic. They were very busy and a bit understaffed. Fun place, I’d go back.
Pretty disgusting dinner. The crab cake was dry . I got NY steak with mashed potatoes cold and veggie pretty wet!! The wine (#251) was supposed to be a French wine but end up to be a Merlot from California and not a good one.........The key lime pie was obviously frozen and defrost overnight with the chantilly still solid, the cream did not stick to the crust !!! The service was OK except the fact that the appetizer arrive so fast no time to enjoy one cold beer.....and then wait and wait for the main course. The best part of the meal was the Grand Marnier that you guys did not cook.
A couple of Lyonnais , from the gastronomic capital of the world
Avg service, good food, good atmosphere, nothing extraordinary.
Great food and a great experience!
The food was absolutely delicious. Every single plate that was order was way above expectations.
Sunday brunch once again does not disappoint. It was amazing. The shrimp and oysters were fabulous.
Nice vibe waiter very cool food was great, I enjoyed myself
The shrimp etouffee was Not worth $25. No salad, no side dish.
The crab cake dinner was Not worth $34. Same as above.
Overall, we will not be dining at QB anytime soon.
Food and service were excellent!!
Food was undercooked. Waitress was not friendly.
Valentine's day early dinner was fantastic. Our waitress, Kira, was a beautiful, sunny soul that lit up the restaurant.
Good food! Friendly Attentive wait staff! The Manager was very accommodating and on top of things as well! They served warm bread and fresh hummus to start. I do not like hummus, but their hummus was delicious. You could tell it was freshly made. We will definitely go back!
We celebrated a family birthday with a party of 6. We were given a table off the the back and it was wonderful. There was room for presents, we were able to talk and could hear each other. The food was wonderful as it always is and birthday boy was treated with a free dessert that was decorated with Happy Birthday. We were celebrating a day early. Thank you all so much for the relaxing dinner, wonderful service and delicious food!
I would recommend to a friend for the main dining room or happy hour.
This is our "go-to" place when we want to enjoy a wonderful dining experience. We first tried The Quarter Bistro for Easter brunch last year and found the buffet selections diverse and delicious. Every dish was flavorful and fresh. We have since enjoyed dinner there numerous times and have never been disappointed. The servers are pleasant and helpful: they know how to assist patrons with making menu selections by being well versed in the seasonings and flavors of each dish. Finally, there are a variety of dining rooms, all of which are warm and beautiful.
The food, as always, was delicious. We were highly disappointed in the speed of service, though. For only being 4:05 when we arrived for our reservation (for 5 people) and ordered fairly quickly, we didn’t leave until after 5:35. The restaurant only had a handful of tables, so this was a bit frustrating. Will definitely be back, but hope for quicker service in the future!
Hung with family had a great time going back the next time I need to get grounded
The chicken parmesan was ok at best. The spaghetti that cam with the chicken was in a lump and when I mixed it with the sauce. The sauce was basically a butter sauce no alfredo. I done like butter, so the spaghetti was for me, inedible. The waiter focused on the Male companion I was with and I had to ask if I could order a beverage. I had been there prior for a retirement party and enjoyed myself. This time. Not so much.
Have been here many times in the past, but this time was a disappointment. Food was good, as always, but service was very subpar--e.g., waited over 20 minutes for menus and water, another 10 to make the order, and waitress was easily confused by simple requests. We had reservations (made on line), but the wait-staff was slammed with two very large groups (20 plus each) that came at our same time. Our time slot should not have been availalble, given that those groups obviously made pre-arrangements. Also, we were seated exactly next to one of the groups which was very loud (not inappropriate, just loud and having a good time.) We had to work at hearing each other at our table of 4. I will go to The Quarter again, as this was likely a one-off, but it was disappointing, none-the-less.
Also--it is a pet peeve of mine, maybe not of others--unless I am at a diner getting the blue-plate special, I find it inappropriate to be asked, "So, how's everything tastin'." Checking with me to see if I have any further requests, if there is a service need (e.g., fresh sugar packets, or a napkin to replace one that is dropped, etc.,) is customary and expected, but the "tastin'" question is tasteless (pun intended), and I hear it a lot. It is a new feature of dining out---I wish and hope restaurant managers will train their waitstaff in more appropriate interactions.
Our waiter was superb!!!!!! 25 stars!! Do not remember his name. He was from Kosovo. Keep him!
We invited friends to join us for the special NYE menu. Unfortunately, both of them ordered the prime rib and the restaurant had run out of that item. They were satisfied with substitute items offered them, but had really looked forward to the prime rib. Other than that, we totally enjoyed our meal and evening together.
We went to dinner with our extended family of eight on New Year's Eve. They had a limited special menu for that occasion, but everything on it looked very good. My wife had prime rib and I had jambalaya. Both were well prepared and generous. Appetizers for the table were ordered - spinach/cheese dip and calamari. Both were generous enough to give everyone a good taste. One minor disappointment was that they were out of Squash Ravioli already by 7:30PM - a little surprising, but with other good choices not the end of the world. As for the special desserts - we had cranberry cheese cake (super) and Key Lime pie (the best we had ever had anywhere). We have eaten here off their regular menu and also their Sunday brunch buffet - both excellent. Finally, they have a decent wine list at reasonable prices. We had a Malbec from Argentina and it was superb.
Waited at our table for almost 15 minutes without anyone asking if our waiter had been to the table. We had to ask one of the waitresses that was passing by if there was a waiter assigned to our area. The hostess had not communicated with the waitress assigned to our area that she had seated guests. Waitress was apologetic and attentive after that.
Food wasn’t bad but not thrilled with selections on the menu. We only go here once in a while and have been largely underwhelmed after the first visit a couple tears ago. Probably will only go back when we’re out of options.
Consistently excellent food and service. I especially love the fried oysters.
I had planned to meet a couple for lunch but ended up dining alone... being a single woman is always a concern when dining out. I am pleased to report I received excellent service & my Bourbon Louis Salad was delicious. I will return!
This is one of our go to spots when I don't want to cook. Love the Happy Hour. This time we met friends for their brunch and were pleased with the food -- especially the oysters! Good selection on the buffet -- a bit light on fresh fruit choices, and getting a cup of coffee took over 5 minutes. We'll be back!
Santa even came to visit one of the tables....guess it was a holiday Christmas Party:-)
I took three friends out for a holiday dinner. I loved the eggplant parmigiana.
